Jessica Alba takes a break from her billion dollar Honest Company to serve as a model AND designer for a denim brand

Can't stop, won't stop earning! Jessica Alba takes a break from her billion dollar Honest Company to serve as a model AND designer for a denim brand

  • The 34-year-old actress and Honest Company CEO's business has been valued at $1 billion
  • She just revealed that she is collaborating with denim company DL1961 on her own collection of jeans, set to come out in August
  • In the meantime, she stars in the brand's spring campaign and says she likes that it is a 'thoughtful company'
  • She added that her designs will be inspired by ’90s supermodels like Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Claudia Schiffer
Jessica Alba's home goods, baby, and beauty brand The Honest Company may have earned her an estimated worth of one billion dollars, but the celebrity entrepreneur isn't about to just sit back and start counting her money.
The 34-year-old announced yesterday that she is branching out in the business world yet again, this time lending her face - and style skills - to jean brand DL1961 denim.
According to Vogue, the mother-of-two is first starring in the brand's grunge-inspired Spring 2016 campaign, and will go on to design her own pieces for next season.

In the current campaign, Jessica models an array of the eco-conscious brand's products, including a chambray shirt, high-waisted skinnies, and distressed white cut-off jeans.
But come August, fans will also be able to buy items that the star dreamed up herself, as she is set to design eight to ten pieces for the fall collection.
Jessica already sells baby gear, household products, and make-up under her label, but this is the fashionista's first foray into clothing.
She explained that choosing to team up with DL1961 for her debut had a lot to do with the fact that the company holds a lot of the same business values that she does.
The star described the brand as a 'thoughtful company' which uses less dye and water and requires half the energy usually needed to make denim.Values: The 34-year-old, whose Honest Company had made her a billionaire, teamed up with the brand because it is a 'thoughtful company'

Of course, Jessica also just really likes jeans, and has lusted after major denim trends for most of her life.
'I remember having to lay down to button up those tiny Daisy Duke shorts because I had a big booty. I had to squeeze into my friends’ jeans because my mom wouldn’t buy them for me,' she said.
Now, though, she has the privilege of buying plenty of herself - and she has certainly taken advantage of that.
'I probably have two full racks of denim and each hanger is doubled up. It’s excessive. It’s next-level,' she admitted. I wear so much of it. And there’s nothing like finding the perfect pair of jeans.'

Dressed up, dressed down: She explained that things are casual in California so she can get away with wearing them not just in a low-key way, like at the airport, but while out to dinner, too

For her first collection, the mother of Honor, seven, and Haven, four, plans to play tribute to some of the major names in fashion who've informed her own style
'My inspiration for most things in life is always the ’90s supermodels: Cindy, Naomi, Claudia. Those bodies!' she said. 'Lately I’ve been getting back into bell-bottoms, but high-waisted and not too flared. The jeans that I’m designing are going to celebrate women’s bodies and show off those curves.'
She also expects to be able to live in them, dressing them down for casual days and sprucing them up for nicer events.
'I live in Southern California and people aren’t too fussy out here, so wearing jeans out to dinner or an event isn’t out of the question,' she said. 'You can throw on a great blazer, a blouse, and a pump and that’s just as acceptable as a cocktail dress.'
