Beyonce slays the Super Bowl! Leather-clad Queen Bey brings new song Formation to the Super Bowl in super slick performance with Coldplay and Bruno Mars
Coldplay may have been the headliners, but the Super Bowl halftime spot turned into the Beyonce show on Sunday.
The 34-year-old singer joined the British rock band and fellow guest Bruno Mars as they hit the stage at the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show on Sunday night.
The two talented singers and British band captivated the audience in attendance at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California with their energetic performance as they ended it with fans in the audience holding signs that read 'Believe in love' when put together.

While the overall performance was rather light and fun, Beyonce made a strong political statement with her backing dancers' costumes inspired by members of armed rights group the Black Panthers.
Only Beyonce could get away with using such a high profile moment to promote a new track - which she did with a triumphant performance of Formation, which has widely been touted as a rallying cry for the Black Lives Matter movement.
At one point during the song, the supporting performers formed an 'X' on the field - thought to reference black rights campaigner Malcolm X.
Sending a message: The 34-year-old singer also managed to use her slot during the performance to make a highly political point by performing with backing dancers dressed in the distinctive black berets of the Black Panthers

They wore black berets and leather much like members of the militant group, who were formed in 1966 as a revolutionary black nationalist and socialist organisation during the Civil Rights Movement.
Beyonce began her highly-anticipated performance with old hit Run The World (Girls) as her dancers moved to reveal the talented star wearing an outfit inspired by Michael Jackson.
Her outfit was reminiscent of the legendary singer's iconic Super Bowl XXVII performance back in 1993 as she also wore a black military style jacket with gold metallic detailings including two gold straps over her shoulders which resembled bandoliers.

She also wore a pair of black hot pants along with fishnet stockings and black leather boots with gold detailing. Her dyed blonde locks were worn down with plenty of volume as she sported natural, complimentary make-up on her face.
Beyonce even further proved her star status is entirely justified, when she stopped herself from falling with an amazing freestyle dance move.
The high-energy performance could have been easily thrown off track at one point when eagle-eyed viewers spotted her nearly stumble.

As she was performing a move which involved a jumping into squat position and then up and out of it, she appeared to stumble for a fraction of a second before correcting herself with a jump backwards.
She then made her way to the stage as she faced off with 30-year-old Bruno before they danced side-by-side along with their crews of background dancers to the tune of he and Mark Ronson's hit Uptown Funk.
Not to be outdone by their special guests Coldplay - led by 38-year-old singer Chris Martin - stringed together an impressive medley of their biggest songs.

They began the set with the a bit of Yellow before kicking it into gear with Viva La Vida after a crowd of youngsters rushed to the stage.
At one point during the hit song, frontman Chris Martin said: 'No matter where you are, we're in this together.'
After Beyonce and Bruno's group dance, Coldplay took command of the stage once again as they performed Clocks.
Then the two talented stars come back to join the band as they all put their on own twist on Coldplay's hit Fix You to close out the fun performance.

The actual game did not match the halftime show in entertainment value as the Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers, 24-10.
The performance was met with generally positive reviews on Twitter as user @Taetachip declared Beyonce the actual winner of the game as he wrote: 'Congratulations to #SuperBowl50 winner, @Beyonce.'
Others were not quite as positive as @EliBraden wrote: 'The losing team has to watch the Halftime Show again.'
Chris Martin and Coldplay got lukewarm reviews, however, as @TheNardvark wrote: 'Being on stage with Beyoncé and Bruno Mars makes Chris Martin look like he won a contest from Bud Light. #SB50.'

One big fan of the show was Beyonce's mother Tina who shared a few photos from the event and even posted a cute video of her daughter's last-minute preperations with the caption: 'Slayonce.''
As Coldplay wanted the 12-minute performance to represent the past, present and future, the band had Beyonce to represent the past as they adore her 2013 performance at Super Bowl XLVII.
It was there where the 34-year-old singer not only performed her hits including Run The World (Girls) and Single Ladies but also brought out fellow Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for a bit of a surprise reunion.

No doubt Coldplay are big fans of the wife of rapper and media mogul Jay Z as lead singer Chris Martin gushed about her at a press conference held on Thursday as he said: 'We love Beyonce's music.
'She's one of our all-time favorites and she's one of the greatest performers I've ever witnessed.'
The band and the Halo hitmaker are quite familiar with each other as they collaborated together for the track Hymn For The Weekend off of Coldplay's seventh studio album A Head Full Of Dreams. The artists decided to not perform the track together during the halftime show.

Along with Martin, the highly-popular band consists of lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion.
All the star power wasn't saved exclusively for the halftime show, however, as Lady Gaga gave a powerful and emotional performance of the US National Anthem shortly before kick-off.
It was quite the star-studded affair as many celebs were in attendance including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Olivia Munn, Kate Hudson, Usher, Julianne Hough, Katherine McPhee and Rob Lowe.
