Deadly secrets from the past come to light in this psychological thriller...
In 1995, two teenage girls are put on trial for the murder of a teacher who was lover to them both. Seventeen years later, Poppy (Jodhi May) leaves prison vowing to clear her name, while Serena (Lorraine Burroughs), who was cleared, now has a lovely husband and daughter who know nothing about her past. On the face of it, it seems the wrong girl was convicted, but the clever interplay of past and present in this three-part thriller, based on the novel by Dorothy Koomson, suggests some intriguing twists to come. Martin Compston, who plays abusive teacher Marcus, exudes just the right combination of seductiveness and scary control freakery, and Holli Dempsey and Georgina Campbell are terrific as the younger Poppy and Serena. Suspenseful stuff – but be warned, it's very dark indeed.
