'Xavier reborn!': James McAvoy is barely recognisable as X-Men director Bryan Singer shares Instagram snap of his freshly-shaven head for new film

He is known for his foppish, floppy hair and good looks.
But James McAvoy was almost unrecognisable when director Bryan Singer shared an image of him on social media, this week - complete with a freshly-shaven head.
The Scottish actor, 36, was seen in the uploaded image, captioned 'Xavier reborn', on Friday - and shocked fans with his dramatic new look.

Sat in a barber's chair, the box office star can be seen side-on as a local hairdresser carefully shaves off his brown hair.
Keeping a straight face as he undertakes the new look, it's uncertain whether James is impressed with the results or not - especially as it's not a fashion choice.
The close shave comes as a casting requirement for his role as Professor Xavier in the new, eagerly-anticipated X-Men: Apocalypse film.

Naturally, fans of the performer were much more forthcoming about his hairless image.

Dressing down in casual T-shirts and skinny jeans, they enjoyed their day off-set by going Zip-lining at Tyrolienne Zipline in the old Montreal.
James went first, leaving his body straight as bar. As for Nicholas, fans could've guessed it wasn't his first time doing Zip-line - but they clearly enjoyed some down-time.
