Taking to Twitter to deny a claim never guarantees the celebrity in question is telling the truth.
And despite claiming to have fallen victim to fake nude pictures circling online, it seems Carly Rae Jepsen has in fact been hacked - with a computer whizkid stealing the genuine product from her.
TMZ are reporting that the alleged thief is now trying to 'sell them to various media outlets', and the 26-year-old is 'desperate' to prevent the leak and, in turn, ruin her wholesome sugary sweet image.
On a positive note, the Vancouver Police Department said a potential suspect had already been located, following the investigation 'in regards to a theft of electronic property belonging to Jepsen'.

The US website report that the hacker in question could face some serious charges, including 'criminal harassment, unauthorised access of a computer, and could spend time behind bars'.
Yesterday, the Canadian singer denied being the subject of a sex tape after pictures leaked online.
Taking to Twitter, Carly said photos on celebrity blogger Perez Hilton's website were not her: 'Crazy morning. Discovered someone put up a sex tape claiming to be me. Ridiculous. Obviously not me.'

The snapshots published on Hilton's blog showed a woman in her underwear and claimed they showed a 'striking resemblance' to the singer.
It was also reported that Katy Perry's song E.T. was playing in the background.
Carly - who shot to fame with her No1 single Call Me Maybe - won the Breakout Artist gong at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday.
Yesterday, she was on location in Los Angeles, filming a musical cameo for teen drama 90210.
The cameo involves Jepsen performing a song from her album and will be the headline act for Adrianna Tate-Duncan's (Jessica Lowndes) premiere in Las Vegas.

However, the premiere will be interrupted when Adrianna gets devastating news about Dixon (Tristan Wilds), reports Just Jared.
Carly first tweeted about her appearance a few day ago: 'Shooting a quick scene on 90210 today. I have two lines. (I already forget one of them.) Looking forward to singing though. Hehe.'
She was spotted performing in front of the cameras by a swimming pool in the sunshine.
'That’s a wrap,' she tweeted after the scene. '90210 cameo and performance... !!!! How nuts?! Can’t wait to show you the new song.'
But fans will have to wait until October 8 to see Jepsen in action, when it airs on network The CW.
In the meantime, they can ogle at her in new video Good Time, in which she sings with Owl City.
