'He is so poetic': Emma Stone gushes about on-off boyfriend Andrew Garfield in interview with her Woody Allen idol Diane Keaton
Emma Stone's romance with Andrew Garfield may or may not be on ice but it's clear she still carries a torch for the British actor.
The actress, 26, sat down for a chat with her Woody Allen idol Diane Keaton for Interview magazine and revealed how Garfield is a master of the written word.
'He is such a poet. But that's the way he writes in general,' she told Keaton. 'He's so poetic.'

Poised: The husky voiced star pulled out all her sultry stops for the magazine photo shoot
Multi-faceted: The Help actress recently completed a stint on Broadway starring as Sally Bowles in a production of the musical Cabaret
Stone's comments came after the Annie Hall star told her about the praise heaped on her by her beau.
Garfield told Keaton: 'Working with Emma was like diving into a thrilling, twisting river and never holding on to the sides. From the start. To the end. Spontaneous. In the moment. Present. Terrifying. Vital. The only way acting with someone should be.'
The Superbad actress acknowledged that his heartfelt words meant a great deal to her.
'So I hear it and of course my heart swells up,@ she said.
Then she added: 'And I also know that he writes things like that on a daily basis.'
Star quality: The actress, 26, opens up about her idea of beauty, about having fans and about longtime (former?) beau Andrew Garfield's way with words
Poet: Garfield, 31, and Stone fell for each other on the set of 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man. The actress says the British actor, seen here in Taiwan last week where he wrapped filming on Scorsese's Silence, is 'so poetic'
Stone gave a little insight into what it is about Garfield that attracts her.
Keaton talks about how 'unconventionally beautiful' the younger woman is, adding that complexity and personality are 'important components' to beauty.
Stone agreed.
'When you feel that a person is being true to how they want to look or what their face is, I think there's something about the acceptance of oneself that I can feel from people. That tends to be what I'm attracted to,' she said.
Split? The cute couple haven't been photographed together since January 7 when they were spotted strolling hand-in-hand through New York City's West Village
Reunion? Stone sparked rumors she and Garfield might be seen together soon after she was snapped April 29 leaving a Beverly Hills boutique carrying several bags including one with the Spider-Man star's name on it
Idol: Stone has made no secret of her adoration for Woody Allen's muse Diane Keaton. Keaton, seen her in New York on May 1, was chosen to interview the younger actress who has now also worked with Allen
Stone has publicly declared her adoration of Keaton citing her as a muse and role model for her work with Woody Allen.
Stone now has two Allen features to her name: Magic In The Moonlight with Colin Firth and Irrational man with Joaquin Phoenix that has its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this week.
Stone and Garfield have been dating for more than three years since meeting on the The Amazing Spider-Man set but the rumor mill started churning when the 31-year-old didn't accompany the Birdman star to the Oscars in February.
Media reports suggested the couple had decided to take a break from their relationship.
But there was also speculation that it was simply a temporary separation while Garfield focused on his role in the Martin Scorsese film Silence, being shot in Taiwan, while Stone concentrated on her Broadway debut in Cabaret.
With shooting for Silence now wrapped, a reunion could be on the cards - perhaps on the Cannes red carpet.
New muse: The 26-year-old Arizona native, pictured on set with Allen, has made two films with the director: Magic In The Moonlight with Colin Firth and Irrational Man that debuts this week at Cannes
As for her legions of fans, Stone says it's still a concept she's not fully comfortable with.
'I know what it is to be a fan. But I don't think I've ever really considered the idea of having fans' she said. 'So I've never really taken it all that personally, as if it has something to do with me.'
'But when someone comes up to you and says something truly heartfelt about work you've done, that means a lot.'
Unconventional beauty: The actress' flame red hair and green eyes were accentuated in the cover shoot
Passionate: Garfield told Keaton that working with Stone was 'like diving into a thrilling, twisting river and never holding on to the sides'
Meteoric: Since getting her first leading role in the 2010 teen comedy Easy A, Stone has enjoyed both box office success and critical praise. She was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in 2014's Birdman
Bold: Stone didn't shy away from provocative poses, lying on a bed and baring her lower tummy while stroking her chin with a feather
Arty: The photo session also aimed to capture the actress' natural look
Ethereal: Stone is almost invisible in this shot for the magazine
