Billboard is a chart that tracks music popularity and is also a publication that covers the music business. Billboard has been hosting an annual awards ceremony since 1989 before going dormant in 2007. The event returned in 2011.

Performing during the ceremony were Iggy and Britney Spears, with their single Pretty Girls, while Mariah Carey made her return to the event after a 17 year break.
