Ted Baker is 'mortified' at claims the fashion firm retouched pictures of Meghan Trainor to make her thinner
- All About That Bass singer wore Ted Baker pencil skirt and blazer to event
- Brand sent out media release showing the singer in the on-trend outfit
- It later emerged that images were accidentally changed to make her thinner
- Spokesman said images were reduced in size to fit into email but were not intentionally altered
Ted Baker says it is 'mortified' over claims that the fashion label retouched pictures of singer Meghan Trainor to make her look thinner while she was wearing one of its outfits.
The brand sent out photos yesterday which showed the singer, made famous by her All About That Bass song, at a recent event donning one of the company's on-trend outfits.
But it soon emerged that Trainor - whose lyrics celebrate curvaceous figures - had been slimmed down from the original images.
The company has now insisted it did not alter the images in any way and that the pictures had been changed accidentally after they were cropped to fit into an email.

The brand added: 'We are absolutely mortified by this story as we hold our relationship with Trainor in high regard and we are thrilled that she is a loyal fan of Ted Baker.'
Trainor, 21, was pictured wearing a blazer and a tropical pencil skirt, both from Ted Baker.
On the press release, the brand said: 'Meghan Trainor stepped out on to the pink carpet at this year’s Wango Tango wearing a bright and festive number. She wore the tropical toucan printed Racind skirt by Ted Baker London.'
But when the email was sent to Yahoo!, the staff spotted that the image had been stretched out, meaning the 21-year-old's face, hips and waist were significantly slimmer.
An initial response from the brand to the website apologised for what had happened, saying the error had occurred while trying to squeeze pictures into an email.
'I tried to put the images together and make them fit them into the email,' they said.
'I'm so mortified that that was how it was received. I apologize and I take responsibility for that. I am a huge advocate for women and that was not my intent.'

A later statement from Ted Baker reiterated that no editing had been used on the photos.
It said: 'Our LA based agency, BWR, did not Photoshop or intentionally alter images in anyway.
'Only this morning we tweeted out an image that Trainor posted of herself in our pencil skirt to our 70 thousand global followers. This is her fourth time wearing Ted Baker to a public event and we have published across our social channels each time.
'Ted Baker appreciates and respects women of all sizes and we think Meghan Trainor – a woman of remarkable talent – looks fantastic in Ted.

It added: 'Multiple low resolution images of the singer in a Ted Baker pencil skirt were embedded in an email pitch.
'The photos were cropped and reduced in size in order to fit into the email and were not intended to be published in this watermarked format.
'It is a customary practice for media to retrieve the original images, available through Getty Images, for inclusion in stories.'
The singer's upward trajectory has been an extremely sharp since she arrived on the scene with a best-selling single that was number one in the the U.S. for eight consecutive weeks.
She enjoyed similar success with her second single and quickly embarked on her That Bass tour.
The singer has had to endure the critique that comes along with global success and her most recent single Dear Future Husband sparked a feminism debate.
