Zoe Saldana on accepting her post-baby body following births of twins Cy and Bowie

'I don't want to get back to where I used to be': Zoe Saldana on accepting her post-baby body following births of twins Cy and Bowie

It has been six months since Zoe Saldana welcomed twin boys Bowie Ezio and Cy Aridio, and while the actress looks amazing, she's in no rush to return to her post-baby shape.
The 36-year-old shows off her stunning figure on the cover of InStyle's July 2015 issue, wherein she opened up about how motherhood has changed her life.
'I don’t want to get back to where I used to be,' the mother-of-two shared, regarding her figure. 'I want to feel healthy, and not just fit into the old jeans I used to wear.'

Zoe, who looks radiant on the cover in a patterned blue and white Dolce & Gabbana dress, continued: 'I’m a woman now. My body has changed forever. It’s softer… and stronger.'
The actress has documented her struggle to get back in shape on her Facebook account, sharing a picture of herself working out on a treadmill in April, along with a detailed message describing her journey to regain her stamina and svelte shape.
'Your body changes dramatically, inside and out. You grow in places you never knew you could, and you are tired beyond belief. In some cases more than others, your body experiences a kind of trauma through childbirth that is difficult to explain unless you've had that experience,' the Avatar actress wrote.
'My case was like that, everything from my thyroid to my platelets crashed. Thank God, we are all doing great now, but my body was really bent out of shape after the boys were born.'
The mother-of-two added that it 'feels impossible' for her to bounce back, but she refuses to give up.

Zoe is 'determined' to regain her energy and 'find balance' before her tiny tots take their first steps and before she resumes her acting career.
The new mom - who is training with Steve Moyer - said she wanted to share her post-pregnancy process to help the mothers out there who are in similar situations.
'I know many of you have gone through this or are going through it as we speak. Let's do it together. Let's talk about it, hear each other out, and seek advice when we need it,' she wrote.
Zoe elaborated, 'I started in January with Moyer. I was 160lbs (at the peak of my pregnancy I reached 185lbs). I had no flexibility, weak joints, and exercising was painful. We started with just walking, I think I only walked that first month. I did however change the way I eat.'
'I want to prove to myself that if I have the right determination I can do anything,' she continued.

The determined new mom graced the July issue's cover wearing her long, brunette locks styled straight, and sporting a bright pink lipstick.
Her gorgeous look was accessorized with a gold bracelet and an assortment of colorful rings, along with a manicure that matches the actress's eye-catching lip color.
The Guardians of the Galaxy star also touched upon how the birth of her two sons affected her relationship with her husband, Marco Perego.
Growing closer: Zoe said her twins made her and husband Marco Perego even stronger, gushing: 'When we had our boys, I looked at my husband and I realized: I was meant for you, and you were meant for me'

She said she and the artist - who tied the knot in 2013 - have become closer because of their two boys.
'Finally, when we had our boys, I looked at my husband and I realized: I was meant for you, and you were meant for me,' she gushed.
'I've always felt comfortable around men as long as they were my friends. Now I finally feel comfortable with my lover.'
Meant for each other: In her interview with InStyle, Zoe gushes about the father of her boys, Marco, but also the boys themselves, and how becoming a mom has changed her in so many ways

The couple share such a strong bond, in fact, that Marco decided to take Zoe's name after the pair got married.
Zoe noted the controversy of her husband's decision, admitting: 'I tried to talk him out of it.'
'I told him, ‘If you use my name, you’re going to be emasculated by your community of artists, by your Latin community of men, by the world,'' she said. 'But Marco looks up at me and says, ‘Ah, Zoe, I don’t give a s***.''
