Bright young thing: Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery goes for multi-colour at BAFTA Tea Party in Los Angeles

Her character in Downton Abbey is rarely seen wearing anything fun, so British actress Michelle Dockery can be forgiven for compensating with a spot of technicolour.
And that's exactly what she did last night when she attended the British Academy of Film and Television Awards Tea Party in California.
Held to co-incide with the Emmy Awards, this weekend, the bash was a showcase for British talent - and Dockery certainly didn't miss her cue.

The xx year-old looked stunning in a multi-coloured dress, which was perfectly tailored to her slender frame. She accessorised with neon yellow shoes and wore her brown hair in a loose side-bun.
Her make-up was kept simple with just a flash of pink lipstick to complete the English Rose look.

The Essex-born actress attended the event in Los Angeles alongside a host of screen stars including Kevin Spacey and Kerry Washington, who were also trading on the media focus around the Emmys.
Dockery is no stranger to style, though. Last year she attended the Emmys in a midnight blue Louis Vuitton dress that was custom-made by Marc Jacobs.
The designer, who is a major fan of Downton Abbey, said he agreed to design the gown because he admires Docker's work.
Clearly, Essex isn't the ONLY way: Genuine talent Dockery arrives at SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
He told Grazia: 'I always look forward to the Lady Mary moments on Downton Abbey - and for Michelle Dockery's appearance in this gorgeous gown. She looked flawless!'
Despite losing out to the critically-acclaimed Claire Danes, the star's dress was a hit. It featured a sheer top and full skirt with some kooky pockets.

Michelle teamed her outfit with deep red lipstick, and wore her auburn hair swept back in a chic up do.
She finished off her outfit with a Jimmy Choo gold box clutch bag and Fred Leighton jewellery for some added glamour.
