Game Of Thrones Star Nathalie Emmanuel - AUDIO GO
Game of Thrones actress Nathalie Emmanuel will star in the audiobook version of the UK’s answer to the Twilight series, The Killing Woods.
The British actress, best-known as Daenerys Targaryen’s aide Missandei in the hit HBO series, will play Emily the daughter of a suspected murderer in the adaptation of Lucy Christopher novel.
I knew it wouldn’t be easy. Emily is a complex young woman whose life is thrown into turmoil, and giving her character a voice, away from the written word, was a wonderfully challenging learning curve. - Emmanuel
Her experience on Channel 4 shows such as soap Hollyoaks and gritty drama Misfits made her the “obvious choice” as Emily, the book’s central character, its producers said. The novel, aimed squarely at a young-adult market, has been tipped to become an overnight sensation when it hits the shelves next month.
Critics liken it to a ‘homegrown’ version of the Twilight saga, a phenomenally successful series of books by the American author, Stephenie Meyer.
Speaking for the first time about her audiobook debut Emmanuel, 24, said making the transition from ‘visual to voice’ was a “wonderfully challenging learning curve”.
“As a huge audiobook fan, I was over the moon about being asked to get involved in The Killing Woods,” she said, adding, “It is a fantastic book and one that lends itself perfectly to audio.”
Set in contemporary England, The Killing Woods is described as a dark, gripping novel that tells the story of a daughter whose father is accused of murdering a teenage girl. With the help of the victim’s boyfriend, Damon, she sets out to clear her father’s name by investigating what really took place that night.
The book is released simultaneously as a print edition and AudioGO audiobook on October 3rd, published by Chicken House.
Emmanuel, who has also just been cast in Hollywood action film Fast & Furious 7, will co-star in the audio version of The Killing Woods alongside rising star and TV heartthrob Kyle Winfield, whose credits include teen drama Freak, BBC2′s Scene Stealers and the 2011 British-Irish comedy film, Killing Bono.
Make no mistake that The Killing Woods is a dark novel. It has everything that a thriller should have – suspense, intrigue, and a fabulously original plot.
The prospect of working with AudioGO, and alongside Nathalie, was simply too good to miss. I jumped at the chance and grabbed it with both hands. – Winfield, who makes his audiobook debut as Damon
Christopher, author of The Killing Woods, is already known for her acclaimed novels Stolen, which won the prestigious Branford Boase award, and Flyaway — which was shortlisted for the Costa Book Awards.
The Killing Woods is released on October 3rd and is available now for pre-order fromwww.audiogo.com/uk as an audiobook download or CD, priced £7.99.
