But nearly 20 years later, Bella Thorne is introducing millennials to the horror franchise with the TV remake Scream, set to premiere on MTV on June 30.
At Sunday's MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles, the 17-year-old actress debuted a sneak peek from the upcoming show in all its ghastly glory.

Fresh from the Coachella Music Festival, Bella introduced the first look donning a Peter Pilotto Spring 2015 A-line mini-dress that featured vibrant shades of blue and purple with intricate embroidery detailing.
The clip opens with a shot of Bella slipping into a tiny black bikini and taking a dip in her backyard jacuzzi before she receives a haunting text message that read: 'Heads up.'
She portrays a teen beauty named Nina Patterson, inspired by Drew Barrymore’s character Casey Becker from the Nineties hit movie.
And Nina is not alone when it comes to finding gruesome and deathly discoveries.

Scream is yet another nineties remake following the trend of recent revamped franchises.
It will premiere on MTV on June 30 instead of the originally planned air date of Halloween.
