The 68th Cannes Film Festival has kicked off in spectacular style, with the likes of Julianne Moore and Naomi Watts leading the fashion on the red carpet on the first night.
The two Hollywood beauties looked sensational in their deep plunging gowns as they showed up for the premiere of La Tete Haute (Standing Tall) and the opening ceremony held at the Grand Theatre Lumiere, Palais des Festivals on Wednesday evening.
Oscar winner Julianne, 54, cut a particularly glamorous figure in her racy but classy black gown, complete with over-the-top embellishments on the shoulders in a netted sequin-type wrapover.

The skirt of the gorgeous garment clung to her slender figure with ease, further lavishness being added with the glitzy droplets of crystals falling down the length to the red carpet.
The Still Alice star, who is at the film festival in her role as a L'Oreal Paris ambassador, wore her famous red locks up in a side parting and opted for dramatic smokey eye make-up for the occasion, adding a touch of colour with dangling emerald earrings.
The star is a regular at the world renowned film festival, promoting two major movies last year including the penultimate Hunger Games installment Mockingjay Part 1.
However, also giving some serious sartorial showing on the debut night of Cannes was Naomi, who looked flawless in a ballgown to rival any other.
All-out glamour: The 54-year-old Oscar winner cut a flawless figure in her racy yet classy black gown with a wrapover front, with a unique meshand sequin texture

Hollywood comes to France: Every year, the biggest stars on the globe descend on this small but lavish town in the French Riviera - for a week and a half every May, Cannes is the centre of the showbiz universe
The bodice of the youthful 46-year-old's silver-grey dress was, like Julianne's, incredibly low-cut, revealing a subtle and tasteful amount of her cleavage.
And also like Julianne's ensemble, it was glistening with a smattering of gorgeous embellishments, glittering in the nightfall on the French Riviera town.
However, it was the full feather-covered skirt - with added pockets for nonchalance - that really added to the drama of the Australian actress' incredible red carpet look.
As she turned to all angles to face the hundreds of photographers on the prestigious red carpet, the star revealed her dress to be backless.
Jaw-dropping: Naomi made for a stylish display in her long feathered dress in a dove grey, complete with a long, sweeping train
Extra skin on show: The beautiful 46-year-old actress worked the hundreds of flashbulbs from all angles, revealing the back of her eye-catching gown to be backless
Feathered fantasy: Naomi - who is at the film festival to promote her movie Sea Of Trees, which is competing for the coveted Palme d’Or top prize - didn't let her oversized textured gown wear her, showing it off to full effect
The most revered red carpet in the world? Naomi was followed down the movie star runway by actress Leila Bekhti
Taking it all in: Although they were barely visible under her frou-frou skirt with a train, Naomi donned Nicolas Kirkwood Maeva sandals in silver to complete her glitzy look
Her blonde locks were slicked back off her face in a flattering quiff, and her beauty look was as fresh-faced and natural as could be while accentuating her delicate features.
And, although they were barely visible, she added height to her frame with a pair of Nicolas Kirkwood Maeva sandals in silver.
Elsewhere, keeping it more low-key but no less stunning was Natalie Portman, who wore a column-shaped strapless red gown.
The bust of the classic garment was cut in a sweetheart style, the body of the dress clinging to her slight curves before falling straight down.
Date night: Natalie Portman was joined by husband Benjamin Millepied on the red carpet at the La Tete Haute, wowing in a chic, classy and simple - but effective - red column gown with a sweetheart neckline
Slender beauty: The 33-year-old wasn't at all fazed by the lenses pointing at her, as she proudly showed off her trim figure encased in the stunning scarlet red dress
Effortless beauty: Natalie may have been in the industry for over 20 years, but she looked more youthful than ever with a smokey eye and little else on her face while she posed with her husband on the red carpet
Movie star twosome: Natalie and Ben met on the set of her 2010 movie The Black Swan - which saw her win the Best Actress Oscar - as he worked on the movie as the lead choreographer
One for the photo album? Natalie and Ben showed they have their couple posing style nailed as they soaked up the atmosphere while working the cameras
The 33-year-old - who walked the red carpet with her husband, choreographer Benjamin Millepied -wore her mid-length brunette tresses in the sleekest of styles, slicked back in a glossy 'do, lightly curling up at the ends.
And Sienna Miller followed suit in a primary colour dress: the member of the Cannes jury rocked the perfect black tie attire in a midnight blue one-shouldered gown.
With a style similar to Naomi's, the 33-year-old British actress wore her blonde mane in a pushed-back style with a lift at the roots, but added a dash of colour with a scarlet red lipstick.
Blue-tiful: Member of the jury for 2015 Sienna Miller graced the red carpet in a midnight blue gown, which sat close to her svelte curves and was finished with an asymmetric shoulder
