Thandie Newton shows her demure side in black floaty frock... but brightens it up with fuchsia lips for TV show Rogue

She plays a tough police detective in her new television series Rogue.

But Thandie Newton showed a more girly side at the show's Los Angeles premiere.

The 40-year-old looked elegant in a simple knee-length black dress and fuchsia pink lips as she posed at the event in Hollywood on Monday night.

The actress looked gorgeous in the floaty frock, which featured a lace skirt and a cotton upper that looked perfect on the slim star.

She paired the vintage dress, which is from Gathering Goddess, with sparkling cream heels and a dainty gold clutch.

But the outfit really came alive with the pop of bright pink colour on her lips, which perfectly complemented her caramel skin tone and dark hair.

In the DirecTV show, Thandie plays Grace Travis, an undercover police detective who is out for revenge after the mysterious death of her son.

Hell bent on finding the truth, Grace goes rogue in order to find the answers and exact vengeance on those involved.

But along the way the mourning mother gets caught up with a dangerously powerful family, after striking up a relationship with crime boss, Jimmy Laszlo (Marton Csokas) who may just be involved in her son's murder.

Also at the event were Thandie's costars and fellow Brits Joshua Sasse and Matthew Beard.

The actors both looked dapper in suits as they posed with their castmate Marton, who starred in the final installment of The Lord Of The Rings trilogy.

Producers of the show will no doubt be hoping for the same success with their latest offering as they did with previous hits Friday Night Lights and Damages.

Rogue premieres Stateside on April 3 at 9/8c on DirecTV's Audience Network.
