But Selena Gomez has revealed her teen idol boyfriend Justin Bieber is really a 'hopeless romantic' at heart.
His softer side came into focus when he hired out gigantic Los Angeles stadium The Staples Centre in September so they could enjoy a private screening of Titanic together, but the Wizards of Waverly Place favourite said that is just the tip of the iceberg.

The giggling cover girl told Elle Magazine: 'If I’ll share anything with you, it’s that he really is a hopeless romantic.
'I had just mentioned it in the car – all I said is that I really want to see Titanic again, and then…'
The 19-year-old has been dating the Baby favourite since early 2011, and their relationship appears to be going strong.
And no doubt Justin will be even happier to be dating the young star when he sees the racy ensembles Selena donned for her photo shoot for the popular fashion magazine.

Her most daring outfit saw her showing off her womanly curves in a tight strapless red bra, blue and white trousers and a pair of high heels.
Quite why she had decided to wear such an outfit to lie on a sandy floor is anyone's guess, but it certainly highlight just what her 18-year-old beau sees in her.
Of course being photographed for fashion magazines is a million miles away from her upbringing in a one parent family in Texas.
But she said her dedicated mother
She said: 'I can remember about seven times when our car got stuck on the highway because we’d run out of gas money.
'(Still her mother) saved up to take me to concerts. She took me to museums, aquariums, to teach me about the world, about what’s real.'
But her interest in drama saw her world turned upside down, as she attracted the attention of Disney scouts, who then groomed her for stardom.
However she said they did not force her to change herself to fit any sort of mould.
She said: 'Disney is a machine, so people automatically assume that you can’t work for the channel unless you act and sing and dance and sign up for all that.
'That’s absolutely not true. I always did everything the way I wanted to do it.'

And while she is now having well-earned career success, and is getting ready to star in more adult fare alongside the likes of Vanessa Hudgens in Spring Breakers, the actress said she is content to focus on work she likes.
She said: 'I get offered the teenybopper movies, and I’ve done that. I haven’t done a mega-hundred-billion-dollar Transformers movie, but that’s not what I want to do either.'
The Latina lovely could also not help herself from talking about the effect seeing her childhood idol Jennifer Lopez in Selena had on her.
She said: 'I made a bustier out of a bathing suit that I dyed black. I put glue and glitter all over it and I wouldn’t take it off.'
