Behind the scenes: Cara Delevingne spends 11 HOURS with her favourite tattoo artist Bang Bang as she gets inked for Met Gala
It's not like Cara Delevingne to follow conventions on the red carpet.
So when faced with this year's Chinese Whispers: Through the Looking Glass theme for the 2015 Met Gala on Monday, the British supermodel and tattoo enthusiast went the extra-mile with elaborate Chinese birds and blossoms inkings.
New behind the scenes shots show Cara recruiting the help of tattooist to the stars Bang Bang, a squad of five artists and 11 hours in the make-up chair to decorate her whole upper body, especially for the occasion.

Cara didn't just impress with a Stella McCartney jumpsuit for this year's costume gala, hosted by Vogue editor Anna Wintour, she decided to take the dress code into her own hands.
With her ever-expanding collection of bizarre inkings, Cara may have lead a few to believe her elaborate body art was real but it will in fact only last 10 days.
The behind the scenes shots show the supermodel receiving the tattoo treatment from Bang Bang - real name Keith McCurdy - who is the artist behind Cara's infamous 'Bacon' tattoo on the bottom of her foot, as well as her first ever inking on her index finger.

Cara's temporary tattoos were designed using Photoshop and applied directly to her skin using markers and stencils on the morning of the event.
To prevent ink bleeding and keep the tattoos in place, a make-up artist then used a matte sealer to lock them in.
On the night, Cara wore her hair in a fuss-free bun to avoid any interference with the inkings and to give the blossom design enough impact alongside McCartney's cutaway jumpsuit.

The heavily-tattooed artist is credited with creating some the best-known permanent body art, with celeb clients including Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber.
He was first called upon by a celebrity when Rihanna was reaching the height of her fame as she turned 18 and he has tattooed the Umbrella singer ever since.
Rihanna was reportedly the first to see Cara's Met Gala tribute, which she called 'sick', and was also the one who introduced Cara to Bang Bang.
