Janet Jackson has once again packed a punch in the album cover for her long-awaited eleventh offering, Unbreakable.

On Thursday, the 49-year-old delighted her devoted fans when she released the artwork in all its glory on her Instagram account, as well as an update on her website revealing the project would drop on October 2.

In the haunting image, Janet displayed her endless collection of worldly jewellery and her famously youthful complexion.

The photogenic hit-maker gave the camera a haunting expression, while her wavy strands were styled out in a full and dramatic hairdo.

Proving she needs a subtle touch of makeup to compliment her signature youthful glow, Janet looked amazing with a flawless coat of foundation and full lashes.

Preferring to draw more attention to her complexion, the Rhythm Nation chart-topper wore an understated outfit that consisted of a black jacket and jean top.

On her website, Janet shared with fans the track listings for her upcoming offering, which included a song collaboration with Missy Elliott for Burnitup! 

Janet's titular single Unbreakable became available for streaming online that same day.

In August, the songbird shared an intimate behind-the-scenes look of her album cover photo shoot, which saw her team up with photographer Yu Tsai to achieve the final outcome.

Yu discussed his enduring chemistry with the star, telling the camera: 'Anytime that I get to work with Janet, it's an honour. It's like reuniting with an old friend. We're back on set together again, we're doing our tango together again, I love it,' he said.

Janet is in the midst of a musical comeback. 

She made her triumphant return to the stage when she kicked off her Unbreakable World Tour earlier this week in Vancouver.

The singer is releasing her material on her own label - the partnership between Rhythm Nation and BMG makes her arguably the first African/ American woman to do so.

Janet Jackson is plotting her return to music, and looking incredibly youthful in the process.

On Thursday, the 49-year-old released an image from her upcoming album cover photo shoot, which showcased her wrinkle-free complexion to full effect.

The photogenic songstress looked seductive as she sat on a wooden stool in ripped jeans and a white blouse.

Her hair blown out in loose and wavy curls, the Nasty singer crossed her legs and touched her cheek.

She wore an immense amount of bracelets, as well as a number of other eye-catching accessories to liven up her edgy look.

Further flushing out her creative vision, Janet also released a video providing a behind-the-scenes look at the photo shoot for the album cover.

In the video, Janet worked her magic for photographer Yu Tsai, who gushed about his enduring chemistry with the hitmaker.   

'Anytime that I get to work with Janet, it's an honour. It's like reuniting with an old friend. We're back on set together again, we're doing our tango together again, I love it,' he said.

The smiling photographer also discussed their working harmony.

'Gotta find each others step, you have to find each others rhythm, and when you hit that crescendo just right, that's when you get the most amazing, beautiful image.

Speaking of the vision for the wardrobe, stylist Kim Bowen explained that her outfits would consist of 'whole conglomeration of different kinds of looks.'

She is also about to embark on her first tour for in nearly a decade – Unbreakable.

The singer is releasing her material on her own label - the partnership between Rhythm Nation and BMG makes her arguably the first African/ American woman to do so.

Her eleventh album, also titled Unbreakable, will be released later this year.

She hasn’t released a single for seven years.

And for her comeback, Janet Jackson has paid tribute to her brother Michael, as well taking inspiration from one of her greatest hits to date.

The 49-year-old star's video, for her latest offering No Sleeep, has a very similar feel to her 1993 smash That’s The Way Love Goes, which won the singer a Grammy.

Made with the same producers and writers Jam and Lewis, Janet’s new song and the clip accompanying it are a more grown up, down-tempo, sensual version of the song which reigned at the top of the US charts for 100 weeks. 

And she has also managed to get a homage to her brother into the video, where she is seen doing some dance moves on the stairs and tipping her fedora hat.

The video starts with a slow panoramic shot of a gorgeous palatial style loft apartment.

The rain is falling outside and the high ceiling rooms are lit in shades of soft charcoal and deep blue hues, giving it a sultry, moody feel. 

Janet is seen leaning against a wall, in a very similar fashion to her That’s The Way Love Goes video.

Her hair, which is also reminiscent of the 1993 clip, cascading around her shoulders in ringlets as she sings.

The tune and rhythm have a moody sensual vibe.

The singer stops and does some slow hip sways as she moves to the rhythm.

In a homage to her brother, who dies in 2009, she takes to a stone staircase in the apartment wearing a wide brimmed fedora, flicking the hat up with a classic Jackson hand gesture and a quick nod of her head.

The move, though subtle, is comparable to Michael‘s 1982 smash Billie Jean.

The song continues as Janet moves through the apartment, which is softly lit, until she gets to the lounge area which features candles and warmer, more orange hues.

She is then joined by artist J. Cole who raps some verses with the star. There are numerous images of him superimposed around the room as he sings along with Janet in the clip.

Although they don’t tend to interact with each other in the clip, may be because they had to film at different times, the pairs vocals blend together with a perfect sound.

Janet tweeted the release of her video on Friday and said: ‘I hope u enjoy watching this as much as we enjoyed making it #NoSL333P @JColeNC.’

Janet Jackson probably caused scores of excited palpitations when she revealed she was recording in the studio again.

The 49-year-old hitmaker got hearts beating faster on Monday when she announced she will kick off a world tour this summer in support of Unbreakable, her first album in seven years.

Janet is set to perform 36 dates in 32 cities, beginning on August 31 in Vancouver, Canada with her first US show slated for September 11 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Unbreakable World Tour will continue on through November 12, it's final show in Honolulu, Hawaii, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Janet's fans shouldn't be disappointed - the Rhythm Nation singer can always be counted on to put on a sizzling and eye-catching act.

The performer is already staging auditions for her tour, and posted a video on her Twitter page attesting to that fact on June 15.

You heard it from her: Janet (pictured in 2009) confirmed that she's recording a new album on June 3, tweeting: 'You will always know it is true when you hear it from my lips...'

The clip shows a large group of leotard and sweat shirt-clad dancers putting in the practice at CenterStaging Studio 11 in Burbank, California.

'Auditioning for Janet feels like a dream fantasy,' one hopeful dancer says in voiceover.

Janet caused a stir when she announced plans to record a new album and go on tour late last month.

She whet appetites by posting a video teaser online, saying: 'I promised you'd hear it from my lips and now you will. This year: new music; new world tour; a new movement. I've been listening. Let's keep the conversation going.'

Janet last toured for her 2011 Number Ones greatest hits album. 

Janet's forthcoming album Unbreakable will be released this fall with the pop star reportedly assuming total creative control since the dismal sales of her last studio album Discipline in 2008.

Her roster of hits dates back to the mid-1980s, ranging from What Have You Done for Me Lately to That's The Way Love Goes to All For You.

Michael Jackson's little sister is considered one of the most innovative and provocative performers in music history.

In her personal life, Janet has been married to billionaire Wissam Al Mana for three years.

But it would appear there was an unofficial dress code of sorts as the stars turned out for the 2013 amfAR Cinema Against Aids gala at the Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes on Thursday night clad head-to-toe in pristine white ensembles. 

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley lead the way in the glamour stakes, looking effortlessly elegant in a white strapless gown with an unusual graduated hem.
