Sarah Harding and Rebecca Adlington lead the way as the full line-up for winter sports reality show The Jump is revealed

It's one of the most dangerous and challenging reality shows on television.

And the 12 celebrities who will take on Channel 4's The Jump have been revealed ahead of the series launch later this month.

Leading the way are Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding, 34, and Olympic medal-winning swimmer Rebecca Adlington, 26.

Both blondes have experience when it comes to reality television shows. Sarah reached the final of BBC's gymnastic-themed Tumble in 2014 and Rebecca finished sixth in the thirteenth series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

In her promo shot for the series, Sarah wore a pink and green ski suit. Her luscious blonde locks tumbled over her shoulders as she tilted her head to the side and flashed a bright white smile.

Meanwhile, Rebecca sported a pink and orange number while casually holding her skis over her shoulder.

The athlete's straight blonde fell from underneath a brightly coloured woolly bobble hat and she cut a relaxed figure with her hand rested on her hip.

The full line-up for the competition is: former Great Britain sprinter Linford Christie, ex-EastEnders actor Sid Owen, Made in Chelsea's Mark Francis, TOWIE's James 'Arg' Argent, former world champion gymnast Beth Tweddle, singer Brian McFadden, actor Dean Cain, socialite Tamara Beckwith, former EastEnders star Louisa Lytton and Holby City actress Tina Hobley.

The winter sports competition takes place in the Austrian Alps and will see a whole host of celebrities take part in various tasks, such as the skeleton, bobsleigh and giant slalom - with the worst-performing celebrity taking on the all-important and terrifying ski jump. 

Due to the physical nature of the show, there's an element of risk and the threat of serious injury.

Former Strictly come dancing star Ola Jordan, 33, injured her hip and knee in a 'freak accident' following her attempt to navigate a downward slope without poles during training for the last series.

The star, who was quickly replaced by Chloe Madeley, ended up being out of action for nine months and feared she might not be able to professionally dance again.

And Arg's girlfriend Lydia Bright has revealed she is apprehensive about her man's appearance on the show in an interview with OK! Online.

Multi-skilled: Tamara Beckwith is no stranger to reality TV. Could winter sports be another string to her bow?

She confessed: 'We're a little bit nervous, because a lot of the contestants going on there are super-fit and Arg is probably the underdog, so let's just hope he doesn't break any bones!

'He might just shock us all. He's never skied before. The other day, he was training and got a really bad cramp in his leg and had to finish early. 

'I hope James puts his heart and soul into it. He might even be a natural.' 

This year's celebrity contingent will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of previous winners Joe McElderry (series one) and Joey Essex (series two), and claim the Cowbell Trophy.

Presenter Davina McCall returns to host the show, which has moved to a new weekly format, instead of being shown daily as the previous series had been.

This year the celebrities will have to tackle an all-new bespoke ski jump, but they are in safe hands. The coaching team training them for the challenges ahead includes skeleton racing champion Lizzy Yarnold and Olympic skier Graham Bell.

It's hard to believe that London 2012 was three years ago, and that sporting professionals and fans are gearing up for Rio 2016.

And on Wednesday night, just one year ahead of the big event, Victoria Pendleton led the glamour at the lavish Team GB Olympic Ball.

At the ball - held at London's Royal Opera House - the former Olympic cyclist looked impeccable in a standout black gown, that wouldn't have looked out of place on the red carpet at the Oscars.

While her body was pretty much completely covered in the swathes of black fabric, Victoria gave more than a subtle glimpse of her incredible figure, fit and honed from her years of athetic activities.

The curve-clinging dress was cut high on the neck and long on the skirt, falling behind her in a long floor-sweeping train.

Complete with long-sleeves, the dress included a racy side panel of curved sheer lines over her chest and side, to inject a touch of difference to the frock.

Oscar-worthy style: She kept it wonderfully sleek and simple in the black dress, which was complete with a tight fit and a long train

Keeping it classy and understated, the 34-year-old teamed the fetching garment with a pair of gold peep-toe heels, a tiny black clutch and a glittering bangle.

Her shoulder-length ombre locks looked gorgeous, swept into glamorous old-Hollywood-era effect curls, looking impeccable against her ruby red lips.

Although fans are used to seeing her in her cycling gear following her incredibly successful sporting career - from which she retired three years ago after winning the gold medal in the keirin category at the London Olympics - she certainly proved she suits red carpet attire even more so. 

Injecting some more glamour into the event was TV presenter Georgie Thompson, who wowed in a halter-neck style super-tight blue dress.

The 37-year-old wife of competitive sailor Sir Ben Ainslie showed off her stunning figure in the revealing garment, while wearing her blonde locks up in a funky, high updo.

She happily posed on the red carpet alongside her handsome husband - clad in a classic black tux - as they put on a sweet display of affection.

Other attendees at the ball included everybody's favourite Olympic diver, Tom Daley.

The 21-year-old cut a suave figure as he posed alone on the evening, not joined by his long-term partner Dustin Lance Black.

Dapperly clad in a blue and black tuxedo jacket, white shirt and bow tie, the handsome athlete - who recently went on a romantic holiday to Florida with his man - smiled for the cameras as he joined others at the event.

Amy Williams, 32, a former skeleton racer and Olympic gold medallist, put on a beautiful display on the red carpet in a cleavage-baring blue and nude lace frock.

Gymnast and former Dancing On Ice star Beth Tweddle went all-out in the glamour stakes, teaming a long ruched and embellished navy dress with a sleek side-parted curly hairstyle.

She added a slight racy edge to her look with her fantastic legs just visible through the slit on the long skirt.

The 30-year-old retired athlete teamed her classy look with a powder pink clutch bag and shoes, and an extra pop of colour, her nails painted bright turquoise.

Victoria, who is now training to be a jockey, was one of the star guests at the evening, held by Team GB to celebrate the forthcoming Olympic Games.

Held to honour stars in the sporting industry who are hoping to make their mark in the Games in Rio next year, guests were treated to a champagne reception and a three-course dinner.

The great and the good of British sport are arriving at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow ahead of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards ceremony.

World No 1 golfer Rory McIlroy is the favourite for this year's award after picking up two majors at the Open and the US PGA Championship, as well as helping Europe to victory in the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.

The Northern Irishman dashed up to Glasgow from Old Trafford on Sunday after watching Manchester United beat Liverpool 3-0 in the Premier League.

McIlroy told the BBC: 'It's been a great year. It's been the best year to date in my career.

'It's great to be here. To be nominated is an accumulation of everything you've achieved. It's great to be in such company.'

McIlroy's main rival for the award is Lewis Hamilton, who last month won his second Formula One world title after a thrilling battle with Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg.

Hamilton, who arrived on the red carpet with dog Roscoe, said: 'It's great to be here. I've taken my dog with me on holiday.

'I haven't stopped since Abu Dhabi, it's been amazing. It's been so much better than the first world title. It's just been a whirlwind. I'm not bothered to have not had many days off.

'I don't think it has really sunk in yet. I just think 'wow we won the world championship.' I just have to pinch myself.

'Normally I'm away at this point of the year but I've had the most incredible support and this is one of the fans' most enjoyable events. I was asked to come, I grew up watching this show and wanted to come back.'

One of the first to arrive in Glasgow on Sunday was Sir Chris Hoy, the former track cyclist who will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award at the ceremony. 

Hoy said: 'I would have said my first gold medal at the Athens Olympics couldn't be topped, until London 2012. The last medal was so emotional. When I watch the video of it now, I still get goosebumps.

'Every time I watch a bike race, I want to be out there. I was at the World Cup in London, and I wanted to be out there. But it was great to watch the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.'
