It's probably a bit intimidating to pose for a photographer who thinks of his camera as a 'weapon' but celebrity picture-taker Marc Hom certainly gets results.

Jennifer Lopez, Rachel McAdams, Sienna Miller, David Beckham, and Johnny Depp all posed for the famous photographer, turning up in pictures in his new portrait book, Profiles.

'The camera is such an incredible weapon. It's like a gun pointed right at your face,' Hom told CNN.

The Danish-born photographer said he doesn't like 'celebrity' but included many in his book, including David Beckham

There are also images of Rachel McAdams (pictured), Johnny Depp, and Anne Hathaway

Published late last year, the book includes portraits from both editorial assignments Hom went on and his own personal sittings.

'[They] are a reflection on my fascination with the person and their innate beauty and character,' he explained.

But though A-list stars fill the pages, Hom isn't a fan of the world 'celebrity'. He told CNN: 'I hate "celebrity" The word is so negative and loaded. I prefer "personalities of the world."'

Those 'personalities of the world' who appear in his book include Johnny Depp, who poses with frequent collaborator Tim Burton, and Mickey Rourke, who sits in his underwear beside his topless girlfriend, who gazes into a mirror.

Also topless — completely nude, in fact — is actress Nicole Galicia, who hangs on director Quentin Tarantino, who is fully clothed.

Hom credits his subjects' willingness to strip down and otherwise bare their souls to the trust they place in him.

'You can't take a great photograph if people don't trust you. If you don't have the common respect for each other, it's like knocking your head on a wall,' he said.

One of his favorites from the book is a whole of actress Sienna Miller, who is seen sitting in a car. He said the image has a 'cinematic feeling', and Sienna herself was a great subject.

He also photographed Mickey Rourke (pictured), Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Redford, Angelina Jolie, Christopher Walken, Brie Larson, Kate Winslet, and Michelle Obama.

'She's one of those people who just gave it all she had really. I don't know if I should repeat this, but as she was sitting in the car, she said "Hold on, one second!" She lifted up the shirt and touched her nipples to get them erect, and was like "Okay, I'm ready now!" I thought that was quite funny. It's definitely stuck in my mind!'

In another image, Jennifer Lopez wraps herself in a blanket on the floor. Rachel McAdams looks sexy and undone in a slip dress and leather jacket, while Nicole Kidman hangs out barefoot on the steps of her trailer.

Alicia Vikander, Louise Bourgeois, David Beckham, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Redford, Angelina Jolie, Christopher Walken, Brie Larson, Kate Winslet, Julian Schnabel, Wiz Khalifa, Iggy Pop, Matthew McConaughey, Ben Affleck, and Michelle Obama.

Hom, who is originally from Denmark, has also photographed the Danish royal family.

A wildlife enthusiast captured the hilarious moment two red squirrels stuffed themselves into a tiny feeding box in a wrestling match for food.

Stephen Smallwood, 46, took the photographs of the squabbling siblings in Cockermouth, Cumbria, from his photography hide close to the River Derwent.

The father-of-two feeds the squirrels, which are just over five months old, on a daily basis but has never seen more than one manage to fit into the plastic feeder at any one time.

Stephen, from Little Broughton, Cumbria, said: 'There was just one at first.

'It was taking nuts and then hiding them but then another appeared and they started chasing each other.

'Before I knew it they were both trying to get in the box - they were in a right tangle but they got in.

'They are this year's kits and they usually start fighting with each other with them being brothers and sisters.

'You don't usually see them as friendly as that but they both got in and started munching away together.'

Offshore wind farm worker Stephen first became interested in photographing animals while fishing and it has now become a regular hobby.

He uses an old shed as a stealthy hideout to take the snaps on his Canon 7D camera and often gets up close and personal with the rodents.

Stephen said: 'They've come right up to my camera and almost touched the lens when I've been in the hide.

'They're very healthy - I photographed one that had some red marks on the white of its belly but when I got close and got a look it was just fighting marks where they've been having a bit of a scuffle.

'We're very proud that we have red squirrels here in Cumbria - I could sit for hours watching them.

'They're English Squirrels, not like these greys that seem to be causing a bit of trouble.

'Personally I've never seen a grey squirrel in Cumbria, I know there are some but I've not seen any.'

Cumbria is a stronghold for red squirrels while the rest of the UK has been taken over by their grey American counterpart.

There are roughly 2.5 million grey squirrels in the UK and only around 140,000 British reds compared to their one-time high of 3.5 million.

A treasure trove of photographs showing Hollywood greats at work and play has emerged for sale after being lost in a company's cabinets for 40 years.

One picture taken by renowned British photographer Terry O'Neill shows Sean Connery and Brigitte Bardot 'larking around' on the set of their 1968 film Shalako. 

Although some of the pictures would have been widely distributed to the press at the time, some may never have been used and many have been lost over the years, meaning these could be the only surviving copies.

The collection belonged to a South African film distribution company, Kinekor, and were rediscovered when the business was taken over.

The images are a mixture of film stills and PR shots as well as candid shots accumulated between 1965 and 1975.

One picture taken by renowned British photographer Terry O'Neill shows Sean Connery and Brigitte Bardot 'larking around' on the set of their 1968 film Shalako.

In it the Scottish Bond actor is holding the glamorous blonde bombshell in a headlock.

Peter Sellers is captured in fun spirits at home with his wife Britt Eckland and their children, while another shows Steve McQueen on a mini motorbike that is a far cry from the manly machines he was normally known for.

A picture of director Roman Polanski with his new bride Sharon Tate taken in London, 1968, is a rather poignant one. Just 18 months later, while eight-and-a-half months pregnant with their child, she and four friends were brutally murdered at her home by the Manson family - a gang led by notorious criminal Charles Manson.

The collection also includes photos of her father when he was trying to track down her killers.

The 4,500 prints and transparencies are now being sold by Special Auction Services in Newbury, Berkshire. They have been divided into 66 lots which are expected to fetch £7,000.

Hugo Marsh, from the auctioneers, said the British seller, who has not been identified, hadn't been looking for the collection but acquired it through a business deal when Kinekor was taken over.

Mr Marsh said: 'This is a huge collection of film stills and pictures capturing Hollywood personalities.

'It took a long time to go through them but it was an absolute joy - it was almost like archaeology.

'They're taken over a ten-year period and it's a real slice in time that gives an insight into the industry then.

'It's a real treasure trove of that period of film. A lot of people think of the 20s and 30s as the golden age of film but the 60s and 70s produced some great movies.

'You've got images from films that have come from the Hollywood studios directly - MGM, Paramount, United Artists.

'They are very interesting in themselves because there are some cult films and really good titles there, like Chinatown and Catch 22.

'Then you've got lots of shots of very famous actors and directors - both pictures taken for PR purposes with their involvement and paparazzi shots that they clearly didn't have a say in.

'For example, there's pictures of Greta Garbo, who was very reclusive, doing yoga on her balcony. But then there's close up pictures taken by Cecil Beaton where you can see a real twinkle and he's obviously been able to catch her off-guard.

'You've got great ones of people like Michael Caine and Robert Redford taken early on in their careers.

'There's one of Sean Connery and Brigitte Bardot which is wonderful. It catches them on set but not filming, just larking around. Who else could put Brigitte Bardot in a headlock and get away with it?

'And a great shot of Steve McQueen, one of the manliest film stars, on a set but he's on the least masculine bike you could possibly imagine.

'A lot of the images come from the Camera Press Agency, a respected British company who used jobbing photographers. The agency would hold on to the negative and send out the prints as required around the world.

'An awful lot have been destroyed but this cache of images has survived.

'Even images that were widely distributed at the time might not have been picked up and used.

'There's certainly pictures I have never seen before and some of them may be very rare and unusual.

'It's difficult to know how much they will make, they may go for far more than we've estimated.

'But there is a big difference between prints produced for exhibition and working prints. The vast majority of these that aren't for movies are all marked up on the back with printing instructions.'

The collection will be sold on February 25.

Photographer raises more than $40,000 to fund book featuring stunning nude images of plus-size women which pays tribute to the beauty of natural curves

A fashion photographer is hoping to change the way that society views curvaceous women after raising more than $40,000 in just one month to fund the publication of a book featuring a series of images which celebrate fuller-figured women. 

New Yorker Victoria Janashvili, the woman behind coffee table book Curves, has had her work featured by the likes of GQ, Maxim, Esquire and Cosmopolitan, but insists that her 'personal projects' have always aimed to highlight the beauty of women with more normal bodies, rather than the slim models often pictured in the pages of magazines.

At the start of 2015, the photographer raised a total of $40,072 dollars on Kickstarter in order to fund the publication of the 140-page book, noting on her page that her 'personal projects have always been aimed to portray a healthy and more relatable model'.

'When we reached our goal, I could not believe it. I had to triple-check,' Ms Janashvili told the New York Post. 

Instead of enjoying a planned trip to Bali that January, the photographer canceled her vacation and began working on the project. She spent three months shooting 70 women, including her crew and herself.

Ms Janashvili told the outlet that she photographed herself last and wasn't sure if the pictured would be included in the book until the end.

What the people want: Ms Janashvili said she was shocked when she learned that she had reached her financial goal and could begin working on her project

'I don’t really like the image, but the whole point of the book is self-acceptance. That being said, I’m still working on myself, just like most women on their journey of self-love,' she explained. 

Ms Janashvili enlisted the help of plus-size models Denise Bidot, who has featured in campaigns for Nordstrom, Levi's and Old Navy, and Marina Bulatkina, who recently modeled for discount fashion store Century 21, both of whom agreed to pose nude for the book. 

Curves also features albino model Diandra Forrest, non-models, including Josette Ulibarri, a woman without any limbs, and slender lingerie model Donna Feldman. 

Team effort: In addition to photos of models and non-models, the book also features pictures of Ms Janashvili and her crew

'To me, it was as important to show "perfect" girls like this, as well as girls like Josette and Diandra, because everybody’s journey is so different,' she noted. 'What I’m trying to say is that they’re equally interesting - whether they’re big or small or [traditionally beautiful] or not.'

In general, Ms Janashvili said she chose women 'who've found peace with how they look and who they are'. 

'I feel very happy that the fashion magazines and [the] media in general [have] started to embrace a healthier image of a "beautiful woman" and that is why I strongly believe that this art book can help make a change even more,' she explained on her Kickstarter page.

'Even though the average American woman is a size 14, our society continues to set stereotypes as standards when it relates to the real body image of women,' Ms Janashvili added. 

'This is why I spent years of my time taking pictures of different types of models and took part [in] numerous body image awareness campaigns that went viral, and caused lots of discussions. 

'Through my book, I would like to continue to spread the mission and break social stereotypes, so we can take a stand on women feeling confident within their own skin.'

'Your wife,  your daughter, your girlfriend, you': The photographer hopes that her book will appeal to women - and men - of all ages and body types

Feel the love: Ms Janashvili insists that the 'future of healthy booties' depends on the publication of her book

'Your wife, your daughter, your girlfriend, your mother and most importantly YOU, will look at yourself differently, more [healthily], and more importantly, less; by expanding, and then reclaiming, the discussion about appearance, we can remove some of the focus from it in women’s lives, old and young,' she writes.

'We love your booty. Get it behind this book. The future of healthy booties, big and small, may depend on it.'

Ms Janashvili has been praised by women from around the world as a result of the book, with many hailing her as an 'inspiration' to people of all ages and body types.  

'I feel better about my body now': The book has had support from women around the world, including a 62-year-old grandmother from Puerto Rico who praised Ms Janashvili the perfect role model

Breathtaking: Many people have commented how beautiful each of the images in the book are 

'As someone who is considered plus size, your work is simply breathtaking,' one woman wrote. 

'Seeing women feel as beautiful as they do in your photographs inspires me more than you could imagine.'

Another added: 'I am a 62-year-old grandmother, who lives in Puerto Rico.Today I was thinking I didn't want to die without having some sexy pictures taken.

'I never had the nerve to do it while I was young because I was always self conscious about my body, even when I was beautiful and skinny. 

'But looking at your photographs and how gorgeous the models look I feel better about my body.'

But this is Woody Allen, Ronnie Barker, Kate O'Mara and Alfred Hitchcock as you've never seen them before. 

A set of intimate behind-the-scenes photographs has been released, giving a rare glimpse into TV's golden age.

The black and white photographs were discovered in a listing magazine TV Times' archive nearly 50 years after they were taken.

One shot shows Allen clutching a microphone with a bemused look on his face as he waits backstage during filming of The Woody Allen Show.

Another sees renowned film director Hitchcock peeping through two doors on the set of Coronation Street in Granada Studios in Manchester in 1964.

Barker was also captured, sticking his head round a door and wearing trademark thick-rimmed spectacles. 

Other celebrities snapped include boxing rivals Muhammed Ali and Henry Cooper, pictured shaking hands moments before an interview, and actress and singer Liza Minnelli in a dressing room at rehearsals for Live at the Hippodrome in 1966.

Female stars Liza Minnelli and Zsa Zsa Gabor are also seen in the collection of images, with the former admiring herself as she holds up a dress in her changing room. 

The candid photographs have been released by TV Times ahead of their sale as fine art prints.  

A spokesman for the company said: 'As well as producing exclusive portraits of some of the day’s stars, readers could also catch a glimpse of their favourite celebrities "out of character". 

'One particularly nice set shows the singer and actress Liza Minnelli backstage, during rehearsals for a TV production, Live at the Hippodrome in 1966.' 

The £1.40 magazine has a circulation of just over 236,000. For more information about the prints, click here.
