By the time Hugh Jackman dons Wolverine's famous adamantium claws for his next solo movie the actor will be nearly 50 - but that's not stopping the Hollywood heavyweight.

Jackman, currently 45, has signed on to play the famous X-Men in two more spin-off superhero movies as well as a third hinted film X-Men: Apocalypse.

Although having previously voiced doubts that he would be able to play the character much longer, he teased that filming two blockbusters back-to-back may be the secret solution.

'It’s much easier because it’s tough to get there, physically, but once you’re there, it’s easier to maintain it,' he told Collider. 

The father of two said shooting the projects directly after each other had 'crossed my mind'.

He was also quick to back peddle on his previous complaints about the grueling Wolverine work-out regime because he only found out about X-Men: Days Of Future Past a month before finishing work on The Wolverine.

Superhero star: The 45-year-old actor first played Wolverine back in 2000, and plays him in the latest X-Men film out May 22

'I was already planning on my cheat meals,' he said.

While his latest X-Men project is out in cinemas on May 22, Jackman is busy in the pre-production stages on an as-yet untitled Wolverine movie with filmmaker James Mangold. 

The movie will hit theatres in 2017 - when Jackman is 49 - while another sequel is in the works, with a release date unannounced.

X-Men: Apocalypse - believed to be the final movie in the mutant superhero series - is also set to star Jackson and has a 2016 release date.

They spent countless hours working together on set of X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

And Ellen Page and Hugh Jackman looked especially happy to see each other again, as they embraced on the red carpet at the New York City premiere of their latest action flick.

The 27-year-old actress and her 45-year-old Australian co-star were both smart and sleek in black suits for the occasion, which was held at the Jacob Javits Centre.

Hello, old friend! Co-stars Ellen Page and Hugh Jackman enjoyed a hug as they caught up on the red carpet at the New York City premiere of their movie X-Men: Days Of Future Past on Saturday 

Ellen's slick suit jacket looked chic and stunning on her, with an un-tucked white shirt beneath it hanging stylishly over the top of black leather trousers.

She wore her long brunette tresses out and styled naturally, and opted for smoky-eye makeup for the star-studded event.

The Canadian born Juno star looked cool, calm and collected as she made her way down the carpet, until her ruggedly handsome co-star accosted her with a smile.

Hugh - who was suave in a well-fitted black suit looked in excellent spirits despite the fact he was still wearing a band-aid on his nose from a cancer he recently had removed.

The actor learned the results of a recent biopsy earlier on Thursday, and had it removed right after.

He was photographed throwing a happy thumbs up, and later recreating his clawed character's signature cross-armed pose.

Basal-cell carcinoma is a slow-growing form of skin cancer. Jackman was treated for same disease last year but said the prognosis was good: 'It's all out now.'

But he urges others to 'get checkups and wear sunscreen.'

X-Men: Days Of Future Past, which hits US theatres on May 23, takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to the past in a bid to alter history and save humans and mutants from a disastrous event.

Ellen stars as Kitty Pryde, a mutant who has the special ability of being able to 'phase' through solid objects.

When it comes to looking suave and sophisticated, Michael Fassbender, 37, Hugh Jackman, 45 and James McAvoy, 35, are some of Hollywood's coolest characters. 

But they showed a slightly more playful side during an appearance on BBC's Graham Norton Show on Friday. 

The men, who were on the programme to promote their new movie X-Men: Days Of Future Past had the audience in hysterics when they showed off their moves and grooves.

Party time: The men proved they were up for a laugh as they bopped in time to the music

Hugh Jackman told Graham Norton that Robin Thicke's mega-hit was the only song that could lure fellow actor, Michael Fassbender on set.

He said: 'Michael is one of those actors you have to coax out of the trailer. He'll wait in there for hours and hours. 

'To get him out, there was only really one song. We used to get the sound guy to play it very loud in the studio just so he could get his mojo up. It was Blurred Lines.' xxxxxxxx

Question time: Host Graham Norton was keen to know more about what went on behind the scenes

The trio, who were all looking smart in black suits, then jumped up and danced in unison, clicking their fingers from side to side before returning back to the famous red sofa. 

While on the show, Hugh Jackman also let slip on the show that he had a very intimate injury while on set of the iconic new movie. 

The star admitted that he was wearing the Wolverine blades and not much else when he tried to hide himself from female workers on set, leaving himself with a wound to the top of his thigh.

Making shapes: The men could barely contain their laughter as they strutted their stuff

He said: 'There was a very intense first scene and I insisted on a closed set. I ran round the corner and all the female members of the crew were gathered there.

'I tried to cover myself and cut my inner thigh - it was just the inner thigh thankfully. The metal claws had to go - you can't have bits and pieces flying off.'

In the latest iconic movie sequel, the X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and stop an event that results in disaster for both humans and mutants. 

X-Men: Days Of Future Past will be released in the UK on May 22

And Jennifer Lawrence is back with a vengeance in the new X-Men sequel Days Of Future Past.

The 23-year-old star reprises her role as the mutant Mystique in the upcoming movie, with a newly-released clip of the film showing her in action.

The clip starts with Peter Dinklage's character Bolivar Trask entering a conference room to discuss his company Trask Industries' newly-created weapon. 

Discussing the weapon, Trask tells his gathered guests: 'Good afternoon everyone, thank you for coming. With this weapon, there will be no human collateral damage.

'If I turn it on, the system couldn't even activate in here...'

Demonstration: The clip starts with Peter Dinklage's character Bolivar Trask entering a conference room to discuss his company Trask Industries' newly-created weapon

Gotcha! But the situation escalates when the weapon identifies that there's a mutant in the room

However, as he turns the weapon on, it begins to beep, alerting him to the fact that there is a mutant in the room.

Waving the weapon slowly around the room, Trask soon discovers that the signal is coming from the 'man' sitting at the end of the table. 

As security approaches to take the culprit into custody, Trask asks: 'What are you?' before the man answers the question by transforming back into Mystique.

Face off: The special effects in the movie are truly stunning

Without answering the question, Mystique then proceeds to demonstrate her identity with a series of impressive kung fu style moves. 

While the majority of the moves were no doubt completed by Jennifer's stunt double, the actress still had to train rigorously before reprising her role for the sequel. 

Speaking about the story for the upcoming movie, Jennifer said recently: 'She's kind of her own agent. She has one mission of trying to assassinate somebody and it will be her first kill, basically. 

'Because we've seen her in the future, and what she becomes, this is kind of a turning point for her.'

Anna Paquin's Rogue makes surprise return appearance in X-Men: Days of Future Past

Eagle-eyed fans spotted Anna Paquin's name listed in the credits of the X-Men: Days of Future Past trailer, which premiered online Tuesday.

20th Century Fox confirmed to BuzzFeed that the 31-year-old Oscar winner - who plays mutant Marie/Rogue - is officially in the 3D film due out May 23.

'Essentially, [it's] a cameo,' the studio revealed.

The True Blood actress was originally cut from a scene where she's held prisoner by mutant-hunting Sentinel robots at Xavier Mansion.

'Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous,' director Bryan Singer told Entertainment Weekly back in December.

'It's a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go.'

The four-time Emmy nominee continued: 'Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she's in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won't appear in it.

SPOILER ALERT

Vulture discovered that Rogue will be included in a scene where she must absorb the time-traveling powers of Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page) for the sake of Wolverine (Hugh Jackman).

However, the action scene involving Rogue's actual rescue from Xavier Mansion will not be in the theatrical version.

The 1970s-set Marvel flick will also feature Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage, and Michael Fassbender. 

Anna will also reprise her vampy character Sookie Stackhouse in the seventh and final season of True Blood, premiering June 22 on HBO.
