The 26-year-old actress certainly stood out in the crowd while wearing a shimmery emerald-green sequinned dress that featured a daring, down-the-navel neckline.

Brandy Norwood is clearly over the moon about her new show coming soon to BET, aptly titled Zoe Moon.

The 36-year-old actress was all style and sophistication too as she joined a roster of other stars celebrating the new program line-up at the BET Upfronts in New York City on Thursday.

Brandy wore a black dress that featured sheer lace long sleeves and more lace detail around the hem and a centre panel that was pin striped in white.

Delicately strapped black heels gave her an extra lift as she posed on the arrivals line, sometimes with a hand on her hip and always with a flirty smile.

'In the series, these singing hopefuls will vie their way to stardom with recording mogul Rowland helping them to find their voice as entertainers.'

The 2014 awards season It girl Lupita Nyong'o has yet to put a foot wrong as she struts her stuff on the red carpet.

With the world's top designers clamouring to dress her, it's certainly little wonder why.

On Saturday night, the 12 Years A Slave star knocked it out of the park once more as she slipped into a stunning burnt orange Givenchy number with sexy plunging neckline for the 45th NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) Image Awards.

The Kenyan beauty completed her look with gold accessories in the form of a large cuff and dangling earrings, and played up her eyes with contrasting bronze-hued make-up, while she opted for a glossy orangey-red lipstick.

Her hair was worn in two fun and youthful bun-like mounds atop her head with a centre part.

But the newcomer wasn't the only one who chose the standout hue for the event, held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Veteran talk show host and actress Oprah Winfrey proved likeminded as she also donned the flattering colour, though unsurprisingly the 60-year-old flashed significantly less flesh than her counterpart.

The Lee Daniels' The Butler star displayed a more mature style in a three-quarter-sleeve button-up belted number with unusual organza patchwork-like detail and matching choppy layered skirt, while she stuck to her signature voluminous curly 'do and complementary natural make-up.

Remembering a true hero: During the night's proceedings, Oprah took to the stage to pay tribute to the late, great former President of South Africa and anti-apartheid revolutionary Nelson Mandela, who passed away on December 5 at the age of 95

Not only did the two women go head-to-head in the style stakes, but they also duked it out once more in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category.

Lupita continued her winning streak by taking the gong for her powerful performance in 12 Years A Slave.

All season long, the pair have gone up against each other in the Supporting Actress category.

While Lupita has pipped her adversary at the post at the majority of awards ceremonies, neither one took home the BAFTA on February 17, with the honour instead going to Jennifer Lawrence for American Hustle.

However, it's not all over for Oprah, with the fan favourite being presented with the Entertainer Of The Year award at tonight's event.

Another of the night's big winners both on the red carpet and awards-wise was Kerry Washington.

Certainly proving it was her night, the actress was awarded Outstanding Actress In A Drama Series for her role as Olivia Pope in the White House-based ABC drama, which also won for Outstanding Drama Series.

The big winner of the night in the Motion Picture category was 12 Years A Slave, which took out the top award and amassed yet another win for star Lupita Nyong'o.

The event also saw Oprah pay tribute to the late Nelson Mandela, while invited guests were also treated to a special musical performance by Oscar and Grammy-winner Stevie Wonder.

Kerry Washington stunned at the 45th NAACP Image Awards in Pasadena, California, showing off her sophisticated pregnancy style.

The 37-year-old mother-to-be wore a beautiful navy blue silk gown that fell to the floor.

The dress, which was custom made by Thakoon, was accented by peach-coloured trim around her bust and shoulders.

Kerry won the award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series during the show for her portrayal of Olivia Pope in ABC's Scandal. She took home the same award for the role in 2013.

The beauty paired her gown - and award - with a smoky eye and peach lipstick, and she plaited her hair into a fishtail style side braid.
