EXCLUSIVE: 'I knew I could do it inside myself... but audiences have never seen me go there before': Chloe Moretz reveals just how she channelled her inner Carrie
PUBLISHED: 13:57, 29 November 2013 | UPDATED: 13:57, 29 November 2013
She's gone from the feisty Kick Ass heroine to taking on one of the most famous film roles of all time.
And while Chloe Moretz admits that playing Carrie in the remake of the 1976 film was a somewhat daunting prospect, she never had any doubt that she would be able to pull the role off.
She said: 'I knew I could do it inside myself but I know that audiences have never seen me go there before. They've only really only seen me as the fierce, warrior-type character.'

New challenge: Chloe Moretz said it was always going to be difficult playing such an iconic role as Carrie
But with a co-star such as Julianne Moore and director like Kimberly Pierce, Chloe managed to fully get into character as Stephen King's bloodied prom queen.
Chloe said of working with Kimberly: 'Having a brilliant director alongside you means that you are guided to places that are very interesting.'
And the respect between Chloe and Julianne, who plays her on-screen mother in the film, is most definitely mutual, with the 52-year-old actress admitting that she was blown away by her teenage co-star's talent.
One tough cookie: But the 15-year-old says she had no doubt that she could achieve the role in herself

Her latest movie Carrie had a disappointing opening weekend in the US, taking in just $17 million of a projected $22 million.
However, 16-year-old actress Chloe Moretz is valiantly plugging the horror remake abroad and stepped out at a photo call in Japan on Wednesday looking older than her years.
The blonde star sported a red and black spotted below the knee dress, which she paired with black sandals as she valiantly posed for photographs.

Despite the movie’s disappointing takings in the US, Chloe appeared to be in high spirits, smiling and waving as she completed her duties.
Chloe beat out Dakota Fanning, Emily Browning and Lily Collins to land the part in Carrie, which scored Sissy Spacek an Oscar nomination in 1977.
The horror flick was released in the Unites States last Thursday and holds an average score of 49 percent from film critics on Rotten Tomatoes with a 67 percent audience rating.
However, if Chloe’s popularity in Japan is anything to go by, the movie will do better internationally than it did in the States.
Putting on a brave face: The blonde beauty put Carrie's disappointing US box office behind her to promote the movie in Japan
On Monday, Moretz showed her international star status as she was mobbed by fans upon arrival in Japan for a press conference.
The blonde starlet was accompanied by her mother, Teri Duke Moretz, and brother Trevor Duke Moretz who often act as her chaperones given her young age.
As the trio attempted to leave the airport, fans and waiting snappers mobbed the actress and local police formed a protective ring around her and helped clear the way so the family could get into their waiting vehicle.
Star status: Chloe will be hoping her popularity in Japan will boost ticket sales of the horror remake
Next year the in-demand teen will star in the mystery thriller Dark Places with Charlize Theron, Christina Hendricks, and Nicholas Hoult.
Chloe will also appear in Antoine Fuqua's The Equalizer with Oscar winners Denzel Washington and Melissa Leo.
But despite the glitz and glamour, Moretz has said her parents keep her 'totally grounded.'
'My mom has always said that if I get a big head, she'll take me out of this business as quickly as I got into it,' the sought-after actress told MTV News in 2010.
'I have to go to bed at 9:30, and if I'm up late on the computer, I lose it for two months.'
In character: Chloe in a scene from the remake of horror classic Carrie which has now been released worldwide
It's scary enough watching Carrie wreak havoc with her telekinetic powers on a movie screen. Imagine what it would be like to see it while you were ordering a latte.
For some unsuspecting patrons of a New York City coffee shop, a scary confrontation straight out of a Stephen King novel (and its two movie adaptations) happened right before their eyes. But creating supernatural occurrences in real life takes a lot of planning and effort. Watch the video of the prank inspired by the upcoming new version of "Carrie," then read on to find out how the creative team made it happen (without dumping pig blood on anybody).
The video was the creation of Thinkmodo, the New York-based viral video marketing company. The company previously grabbed headlines with their video that showed a man "hacking" the video screens in Times Square (actually a promotion for the Bradley Cooper movie "Limitless"). And they flew remote control airplanes that looked like flying people over the Hudson River for the superhero flick "Chronicle." But to create a stunt for "Carrie," it took an army of technicians, actors, stunt performers, and one very amenable coffee shop.
Radiant in white! Julianne Moore, 52, outshines her much younger co-star Chloe Moretz, 16, in a figure-hugging gown at premiere of their new movie Carrie

She is one of Hollywood's hottest young stars who is usually known for her edgy sense of style.
But Chloe Moretz dressed way beyond her years at the premiere of her new movie Carrie on Monday night in Hollywood, California.
With the 16-year-old playing the title role in the reboot of the legendary horror film, it gave her plenty of room to perhaps play up her wardrobe choice for the evening.

Playing it safe: Julianne Moore donned a dazzling white gown, while younger co-star Chloe Moretz played it safe in a green floral and lace dress for the premiere of their new movie Carrie on Monday night in Hollywood
However, instead, Chloe donned a safe green floral and lace satin dress, which while was pretty on the younger actress, appeared suited for a more mature star.
Outshining everyone on the red carpet, however, was Julianne Moore, who at 52, is 36 years older than her blonde teenage co-star.
The stunning redhead was radiant in a white flowing gown, which perfectly complimented her alabaster complexion and skimmed her fabulous physique with it's figure-hugging cut.

Following the current hot monochrome trend, the actress toted a black and white clutch that featured hints of gold and bronze.
Julianne coiffed her famous russet locks out in a straight style and had applied a dramatic smokey eye.
Carrie is directed by Kimberly Peirce, who was behind controversial but awarding winning films Boys Don't Cry and Stop-Loss, and is already receiving a lot of hype despite it being a remake.
Cuddling up: Chloe cuddled up for a happy snap with fellow co-star Judy Greer, who plays Miss Desjardin in the film
Having a laugh: The pair broke into fits of giggles as they posed on the red carpet
Beauty in black: Judy went for an edgy look in a little black dress which featured a leather skirt
The movie is a re-imagining Stephen King's first novel of the same title and follows the 1976 original, directed by Scarface's Brian De Palma.
The terrifying original starred a young Sissy Spacek.
Both follow the same story imagined by King where by Carrie is a shy girl outcast by her peers and overly sheltered by her deeply religious mother.
Casual chic: Model and actress Molly Sims looked great in a simple pair of black trousers and a colourful and sequined top for the event
However, she goes from shy to deadly when she unleashes telekinetic terror after her prom pushes her over the edge.
The new film will be released on October 18 - just in time for Halloween - in America and on October 29 in England.
The younger actress had to endure an especially gruesome climactic prom scene in which her character gets soaked by an overturned bucket of pig's blood.
More monochrome: Zoe Belkin, who portrays the role of Tina in the horror remake, and fellow Carrie co-star Portia Doubleday both donned monochromatic ensembles
Guest list: Tamara Braun and Jessica Parker mingled with the stars
The meanspirited prank played by her peers sets Carrie off on a bloody supernatural spree in which no one is spared.
Dark Shadows star Chloe promised that the new Carrie version will be a lot different from the earlier film that earned Sissy an Academy Award nomination for the Carrie role.
'I’m doing my own take on [the character],' Chloe told Vanity Fair magazine last year.
Dressed to the nines: The film's director Kimberly Peirce and her partner Evren Savci went all out for the big premiere
'The script is totally different from the [original]. It’s more like the book. It’s a more Black Swan version - it messes with your mind. You’ll see things, and you don’t know if you’ve seen them.'
Recently, Chloe admitted that she had never watched the original film as she wanted to bring her own version of Carrie to life.
'I deliberately haven't watched the original movie. I'm sure what Sissy Spacek and Brian De Palma did was phenomenal, but I didn't want to end up copying any performances,' she told Empire magazine.
Group shot: The cast of the movie posed with director Kimberly Peirce on the red carpet
'I wanted to make my Carrie come to life and not steal someone else's Carrie.'
She also added that being the same age as her character helped her connect with Carrie.
'That's why I really connected. What's happening to Carrie is really what's happening to me,' she said.
'I'm a 15-year-old girl who is basically living what Carrie is going through in the film. Trying to figure out your relationship with mum and with dad and figuring out what your voice is. And that's Carrie.'

During the formative teenage years, most teens are still experimenting with their look.
And it seems that actress Chloe Grace Moretz is no different from the average girl.
The busy star will appear on not one, but two magazine covers next month - W and Seventeen, and each shows the 16-year-old actress in a very different light.
Double take: Chloe Grace Moretz is set to appear on the front covers for W and 17 magazines in October that reveal the two very different sides of her character
In W, she is fashion forward, dark and moody, more in keeping with the film roles that have made her famous.
These include the violent vigilante hit-girl she played in 2010 action film Kick-Ass when she was just 13, and her role as the lost vampire in Let Me In the same year.
Meanwhile, in teenage magazineSeventeen, Chloe is portrayed as a high-spirited teen, bouncing around and dressed in a bright blue short skirt and white sparkly top.
A tiara wrapped in blue and green beads sits on top of her wild auburn tresses.
Moody views: The 16-year-old didn't crack a smile in W magazine's photo-shoot
Chiller thriller: The young actress is best known for darker roles in movies such as Kick Ass and Let Me In
As if that's not confusing enough, Chloe recently vamped it up as a Hollywood vixen forGlamourmagazine this month.
Chloe tells W her brother and manager Trevor, who is 10 years older than her, introduced her to 'tons of fashion' on a trip to Paris.
But she's still working out her own personal style.
'I got obsessed,' she says. 'I used to wear button-down shirts and little sweaters, and I looked like an adult, but now I want to have a Christopher Kane kind of style. I’m moody: I wear a lot of black — but I could reinvent myself tomorrow.'
In Seventeen, she offers advice on getting on with family and friends and tells readers to do something different when they turn 16.
It's siiiick: Chloe will next be seen in the remake of classic horror pic, Carrie, starring as the high school misfit with scary telekinetic powers
She says: 'I’ve had blond hair for 15 years, so I decided on my 16th year, why not go brown?! I like being a brunette better. It’s more sophisticated.'
Chloe's next film role will take her back to her dark side. She stars as the high school misfit with telekinetic powers in director Kimberly Peirce’s remake of Carrie.
The horror pic opens October 18 in the U.S. and November 29 in the U.K.

She has more style than most 16-year-olds.
But Chloe Moretz was certainly no trendsetter as she filmed The Equalizer in Chelsea, Massachusetts on Sunday.
Taking a break from filming her latest project - which also star Denzel Washington - the Kick Ass star was seen strolling around set in pair of fur-lined Ugg boots.
Not the best choice: Chloe Moretz wore Ugg boots as she filmed The Equalizer in Chelsea, Massachusetts on Sunday
Quenching her thirst, Chloe couldn't stop sipping her Starbucks iced tea, and it's no wonder why, as the boots weren't really summer appropriate, especially in Massachusetts' current humid state.
The star's outfit also consisted of a loose-fitted American flag tank top and distressed denim cut-offs, revealing her fair-skinned legs.
But the actess' reddish brown locks were camera ready, styled stick straight.
And her make-up remained in tact, sporting a dark pink pout and rosy cheeks.

The burgeoning Hollywood star recently revealed that she’s been representing herself in high powered meetings with movie executives since she was 15.

‘I talk to Donna [Langley, co-chair of Universal Pictures] or someone like that, and they’re like, “We’d love to do stuff with you. I’ll tell you our slate, tell us what you’re interested in.”’
But it’s clearly a different story when it comes to romance.
Chloe revealed that one of her closest confidantes is her Carrie co-star Julianne Moore, whom she has come to seek advice from since the two met on set of their upcoming horror movie.
The starlet expressed her fears when it comes to falling in love: ‘You can’t just like someone.
‘They might be using you. I talk to Julianne about it and she says, “Look, just be careful. Trust your judgement but don’t get in too deep sometimes. Because, you know, when you’re young, you fall in love and don’t know it’s happening.’
