With the Olympics fast approaching, it is no wonder why everything is Olympic themed – movies are no exception. Last night saw the UK premiere of Fast Girls which centres around a street smart runner who develops an intense rivalry with an equally ambitious wealthy young athlete. It’s a classic two sides of the rack film, which is quite fitting for the 2012 Games as they are held in Hackney. We saw the movie last night, and it was full of drama, tension and at times heartwarming – we recommend you book your ticket now.

Yesterday evening saw Leicester Square turn into a running track for the films stars. Leading ladies Lenora Crichlow and Lily James were joined by co-stars Phil Davis and Noel Clarke – who co-wrote the film and Olympic legend Dame Kelly Holmes.
The girls admitted that the training schedule was similar to one a real Olympic athlete would have to endure and star of the film Lily revealed she broke down in tears a number of times. “It was just such a change physically and mentally at first. It was really, really hard,” she admitted. “When filming wrapped it was Christmas, so I ate and I ate and I ate. My stomach was bursting at the seams.” Lily, who will be joining the Downtown Abbey cast in the next series said she is super excited about being part of Downtown mania. And she revealed there are lots of surprises from unlikely characters in the new series – we cannot wait!

Being Human star Lenora said even though it is a million miles away from her roles as a ghost in Being Human she had to be in the film as she couldn’t put the script down and she thinks it’s a positive way of showing women in sport. “I think it’s a really fresh, unique way of telling an age-old underdog story. It’s got fantastic female British leads, they’re the heroes of the piece. It’s a really positive way of depicting women.” Hear, hear Lenora!

One of the stars of the film Dominique Tipper, who looked amazing in the plunging, peach frock said that now she’s worked her backside off to get an athletes body she is showing it off any time she can. We don’t blame her, if we stopped eating macaroons and did a bit more running we might want to show ours off too. The Adulthood actress said that even though she won’t be training as much as she has been, she will be hopping back on the spin bike to keep that body looking lean. Off to spin we go then!

Sugababe, Jade Ewen cut a lonely figure without the other girls at last nights premiere. The singer, who has not commented on the reformation of the original Sugababes didn’t look too happy at all. We did like what she was wearing though – especially the quilted Chanel bag. Jade said she mixed designer with high street and confessed that ASOS is her new shopping haven, and most of her threads were from the site. Next stop for us has to be ASOS.

So You Think You Can Dance judge Kimberly Wyatt looked gorgeous in a black and white, smoke print maxi dress. Kimberly’s enviable figure rivalled the athletes of the film, which she says is due to her new dance act in Revolution at London’s Haymarket Theatre. The dancer worked the rock chick look, which she says is helped by lashings of MAC eyeliner.
Fast Girls is out now!
