There’s nothing more embarrassing than having lipstick on your teeth for an entire evening without anyone saying.
But fortunately for Victoria Pendleton, she managed to avoid humiliation as Jessica Ennis-Hill kindly pointed out her fashion mishap as they attended the British Olympic Ball on Wednesday evening. 
Finding the funny side of the situation the Olympians giggled while Victoria wiped the offending item off her teeth before posing up a storm on the carpet at the Dorchester Hotel.

Aside from her slight faux pas on arrival the cyclist, 33, looked simply stunning in a fitted floor-length purple dress with keyhole detail.
Her dark locks were pulled off her face in stylish chignon showing off her beautiful drop earrings.
Jessica meanwhile looked equally as eye-catching wearing a navy dress with a plunging sheer section in the chest area.

Showing off her impressive physique she kept her legs bare while she accessorised with black heels and clutch bag.
Completing her red carpet look the athlete wore her hair in loose corkscrew curls which framed her perfectly made up face.
Taking to Twitter during the morning, Jessica shared with her followers: ‘Early start today woken up by the drug testers at 6am. Rehab, drills, weights& a bike session done. BOA ball this evening. Should be fun!’

The sportswomen looked delighted to see each other and spent time posing together on the red carpet. 
The British Olympic Ball, which is hosted by Denise Van Outen and Jake Humphrey, is celebrating 100 days to go to the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter games.
Jessica is  known for being a track and field athlete who specialises in multi-eventing disciplines and 100 metres hurdles.
The event was also attended by pregnant Zara Phillips who looked stunning in a black dress.

She is the current British national record holder for the heptathlon, the indoor pentathlon, the high jump and the 100 metres hurdles.
Victoria is a former track cyclist who recieved (MBE) in the 2009 New and a CBE for services to cycling.
As a gold medalist at European, World and Olympic level, Victoria  is also a member of the European Cycling Union Hall of Fame.

The agony of teenage heartache is something most people will have to endure at one point in their lives.But one talented youngster channelled her devastation into something positive as she sailed through to X Factor Boot Camp with an emotional self-penned track on Sunday night's show. 
And not only did supermarket worker Abi Alton, 18, progress to the next stage of the competition, but she also reduced judges Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne to tears, while receiving a standing ovation from the delighted Arena audience.

Speaking before her second audition, she said: 'It was really overwhelming, it was amazing to get the feedback I got off Gary.
'Since my first audition, quite a lot of things have happened in my life and that's what my song today is about. It's a really personal and emotional song about a boy who broke my heart.'
Performing a moving tribute about a person who is her 'missing jigsaw piece', the teenager soon had the entire audience up on their feet as they delivered a rapturous applause for her efforts.

Looking utterly amazed as the crowd rose to their feet in a standing ovation, Abi was left in floods of tears on stage as the panel delivered their verdicts. 
Gary enthused: 'Lovely, that. Very nice. There was a really magical moment just then, it was like your dreams coming true in front of your eyes. What an incredible audition.' 
Sharon added: 'It's answered the question as to whether you'd translate in a big arena and you got a standing ovation. I love you very much.'

Fighting back the tears herself, Nicole described the teenage hopedul as an 'angelic songbird'.
She said: 'I just think you're so courageous. Thank you for sharing it with all of us today. You, little angelic songbird, you.'
And despite being unsure about Abi the first time around, Louis commented: 'I wasn't sure about you the first time around, I was wrong.'

After scoring four yes votes from the judging panel, Abi thanked the crowd before dashing off stage and leaping into the arms of her doting father. 
Abi's mum commented: 'We're so proud of you.'
It was also a night of success for the likes of Melanie McCabe, Jade Richards and Shelley Smith, who all made it through to the Boot Camp stage of the competition. 
The X Factor returns for another round of auditions next weekend.
