Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley on the gold carpet at the world premiere of Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie

It's fashion, dahling! Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley are surrounded by drag queens and sequins on the gold carpet at the world premiere of Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie

The long-awaited movie adaptation of hit comedy series Absolutely Fabulous certainly lived up to its name on Wednesday.
Leading ladies Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley were joined by a host of stars at the World Premiere of Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie in London's Leicester Square.
The two funnywomen were joined by friends from the world of fashion, TV and movies - and a fabulous troupe of drag queens - on the gold carpet of the uber glam screening.

Comedienne Jennifer, who wrote the script, amped up the glamour in a black and blue skirt, slogan T-shirt reading 'gluten free, dairy free, fur free', black coat and towering black and gold Nicolas Kirkwood platform heels.
Meanwhile, her partner-in-crime Joanna looked amazing in her clashing ensemble of a pair of gold trousers, black blazer, leopard-print scarf and sequinned high-heels.
Of course, Joanna couldn't resist having her hair styled in Patsy's signature blonde beehive.

As expected there were a host of familiar faces from the TV show, who had reprised their roles as friends and family of Eddy and Patsy for the big-screen outing.
Julia Sawalha, who plays Eddy's long-suffering daughter Saffy, looked a world away from her character in a low-cut metallic mini dress and strappy heels.
Actress Jane Horrocks appeared to take inspiration from her fashionably-challenged character Bubble in a pink and green co-ordinated trouser and jacket ensemble and a pair of towering pink heels.

Veteran star June Whitfield, 90, best known as playing Eddy's 'Mother', arrived with her actress daughter Suzy Aitchison, while co-star Celia Imrie (aka Eddy's arch rival Claudia Bing) went for full Hollywood glamour in a floor-length aquamarine dress and feathered jacket.
One of the biggest stars in attendance was supermodel Kate Moss, who left boyfriend Count Nikolai von Bismarck at home as she brought BFF, fashion designer Stella McCartney as her date.
Both women are among the celebrity cameos in the film, with Kate being 'killed off' in the movie.

Showing her support for Jennifer was the star's long-time comedy partner Dawn French, who went for a colourful ensemble of pink floral jacket and flowers in her hair.
The new movie features a host of cameos from celebrities playing themselves, so it was no surprise to see plenty of them at the glitzy screening.
Supermodel Jourdan Dunn, who plays herself, showcased her svelte figure in a gold mini dress with a slight train, which she teamed with a pair of red strappy heels.

Model and former Strictly champion Abbey Clancy certainly stood out in an unusual leather mini dress with a painted-on zip and oversized belt design reading 'girl on a motorcycle.
The WAG, who is married to Peter Crouch, brought along her glamorous mother Karen Sullivan. She plays herself in the movie.
The first big screen adaptation of the hit TV comedy features Eddy and Patsy fleeing to the French Riviera after being caught in a media storm.

Also starring in the movie are Rebel Wilson, Lulu, Jean Paul Gaultier, Cara Delevingne and Emma Bunton, among others.
In scenes filmed on location by London's River Thames last November, it looks like supermodel Kate - playing herself - will be killed off.
Wearing a floor-length sequinned number, a chain-smoking and champagne swilling Kate was seen filming scenes wading through the murky waters of the Thames.
Fashionable extras were also spotted creating a shrine to the model by Tower Bridge, suggesting Kate has died.

Jennifer revealed that a movie version of the sitcom - which originally ran on the BBC from 1992 - 2012 - was on the cards early last year.
She said the decision was spurred on by co-star Joanna, who told her they had to 'do it before we die'.
Joanna has said of getting back together to shoot the film: 'All the old cast are in it, there are plenty of surprises. It's a fantastic story. It's very funny. It's divine, glamorous, ridiculous and fabulous.'
Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie is due for release in UK cinemas on 1 July and US cinemas on 22 July.

French and Saunders bring the laughs in comedy dresses as bridesmaids at real-life nuptials for Comic Relief

You’re not supposed to upstage the bride!  French and Saunders bring the laughs in comedy dresses as bridesmaids at real-life nuptials for Comic Relief

It’s a well-known fact that bridesmaids are not supposed to upstage the bride on her wedding day.
But it seems Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders didn’t get the memo or in the name of comedy and indeed charity they decided to ignore it.
Attending a real-life wedding organised by Miranda Hart in aid of Comic Relief,  the comedy duo got more than a few laughs in their massive dresses and Red Nose themed tiaras.

Standing on the steps of Westminster Registry office the women looked like butter wouldn’t melt as they prepared to help Claire Gilchrist walk up the aisle.
Dressed in what one would describe as typically horrible bridesmaids dresses, their pale peach colour gowns were more than unflattering.
With frills around the collar and puff sleeves, when they turned around it was revealed the red sash at the front turned into a huge bow.
Fancy: The comedy duo wore gowns which were anything but simple with huge bows

In keeping with the event in hand they wore tiaras with red balls on them.
The duo seemed delighted to help Miranda with her impressive challenge and in the studio later that evening they couldn’t contain their excitement, as they kissed each other and Miranda on the lips.
And it seems that their turn as bridesmaids went down particularly well with the public who took to Twitter in their droves to praise the stars.
That's better: The bride fortunately had two of her own bridesmaids with her for her big day

One user wrote: ‘Just watching comic relief and I would happily let them organise my wedding if it meant I got French and Saunders as my bridesmaids.’
While another wrote: ‘I want French and Saunders at MY WEDDING. #comicrelief’

Miranda, with the help of a host of celebrity friends, successfully pulled off the wedding of all weddings as newlyweds, Ben and Claire Springett, officially tied the knot at 6.07pm in Marylebone Town Hall among a throng of friends, family and famous faces.
Double trouble: French and Saunders were also joined by Tom Fletcher and Harry Judd from McFly

The challenge was sponsored by BT, a long term supporter of Comic Relief.

It marked the end of the Call The Midwife actress’ BT Red Nose Challenge: Miranda’s Mad March, in which she raised an extraordinary £1,140,615 for Red Nose Day.

He can be seen smiling as he goes for a smart casual look in jeans, a blue T-shirt and tailored jacket.
Lloyd Webber also scrubs up, looking rather patriotic in red trousers, a white shirt and a navy coat.
And French went for a youthful look as she dressed in a brown leather jacket over a black dress and tights.

The trio will be fronting the new talent show as they judge wannabes who are in the running to land a part as Jesus Christ Superstar on the West End stage.
When she signed up to the programme, Vicar of Dibley star Dawn said: 'I’m gagging to find Jesus with the help of the Good Lord.  I have actually been searching for him my whole life, and I can’t believe that inside a few weeks we are going to find him.
'The fact that he is going to be a Rock God is a massive bonus.'
