Kylie Minogue attends the 2012 Q Awards + Red Carpet attendees

It may have been one of the most star-studded events in the music industry calendar, but Kylie Minogue ensured she stole the spotlight at Monday afternoon's Q Awards.

Posing on the red carpet at London's Grosvenor House Hotel, the 44-year-old singer showed off her petite frame in a daring gingham dress.

The unusual monochrome one-shoulder number featured a stunning cutaway back, with only a piece of mesh material helping to preserve the star's modesty as she preened and posed for the cameras.

Daring: As she arrived at London's Grosvenor House Hotel, the 44-year-old singer showed off her outfit's daring backless design

Kylie - who releases new album The Abbey Road Sessions on October 29, which features 16 songs with a full orchestra - teamed the form-fitting dress with towering nude stilettos heels, which added height to her usually diminutive frame.

A slick of rosy pink lipstick and her light brunette locks curled and swept to the side completed the Spinning Around hitmaker's red carpet ensemble.

Kylie was joined at the annual music event by a whole host of stars, including the recently-reformed original Sugababes.

Siobhan Donaghy, Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan looked effortlessly cool as they posed together, with each of the girls opting for jeans, stilettos and leather jackets for their casual chic look.

Also walking the red carpet was woman of the moment Emeli Sande, who teamed a billowing white dress with a vintage-looking denim jacket and black shoe boots.

Girlband Stooshe added a touch of glamour to the proceedings in black minidresses, which they teamed with gold chain-detail belts and towering heels.

The Noisettes' Shingai Shoniwa looked her typically eccentric self in an eyecatching lime green halterneck gown, which showed off her enviably tiny waist in all its glory.

Meanwhile, Lianne La Havas showcased her curves in a high-necked form-fitting monochrome printed dress.

Doing it for the boys were rockers Blur and Muse, with frontman Matt Bellamy's partner Kate Hudson seemingly absent from the proceedings.

Elswhere, Radio 1 Breakfast Show presenter Nick Grimshaw and rapper Professor Green injected a touch of cool to the event, with the latter looking casual in jeans, a red and black striped jumper and burgundy trainers.

She had been hoping to impress with her ironic Graduate-inspired dance routine to the sounds of Mrs Robinson.

But, after leaving the Strictly Come Dancing judges underwhelmed with the performance, Jerry Hall was the latest casualty of the hit BBC show.

The former catwalk queen and partner Anton Du Beke were forced into a dance-off with retired cricketer Michael Vaughan and his partner Natalie Lowe, which Jerry then lost.

Both couples performed their routines once more for the judges, with Jerry and Anton reprising their quickstep, while Vaughan took on the cha cha.

With both Craig Revel Horwood and Darcey Bussell opting to save the sportsman and Bruno Tonioli choosing Hall, the deciding vote was left with head judge Len Goodman who said it was a 'difficult decision'.

He said: 'To be honest, neither couple impressed me. The pressure got to both of them.

'Jerry's routine was full of mistakes. Michael's routine went in and out of time.

'This is a really difficult, difficult decision for me. This is so close, but I'm going to save Michael and Natalie.'

Reflecting on her time on the BBC dance show, Jerry said: 'I've had a lot of fun, it's been great. I've loved hanging out with Anton, and dancing with Anton. It's been lovely.'

On Saturday night's show, Hall said if the public kept her in she would be dancing to Paint It Black next week, the track made famous by her ex-love Mick Jagger's band the Rolling Stones.

With only good things to say about his partner, Anton said: 'I love her, she is gorgeous and fabulous. She's a star and has been wonderful to teach and she's just brilliant.'

Upset to see Jerry leave the competition, Dani Harmer was seen crying as the contestant made their way down the stairs to say their goodbyes to the model.

On finding out that she was in the bottom two, Jerry pulled a face of upset and hugged Anton.

When asked by host Tess Daley why he thought Jerry was in this week's dance off, Goodman said it was to do with the fact she doesn't stretch enough.

He said: 'Well you know she's got wonderful presence probably from her years of modelling but she needed to stretch a little more but the thing with her is you never know what to expect'.

Before she took to the stage for what ended up doing her final dance, when asked what she'd do differently, Jerry simply said: 'I'm going to try my best.'

Whereas a slightly disheartened Micheal said: 'It's the nature of the show, I'm just going to give it my everything.'

Craig told Micheal that in order to wow during the dance-off, he needed to 'listen to the music'.

He said: 'Listen to the music that is most important thing, and remember everything she has told you.'

Continuing he added: 'And dance like you've never danced before darling.'

Lining up to learn they fate, Kimberley Walsh and Pasha high-fived as they become the first dance duo to make it through to next week's show.

'Happy days' were the words that Louis Smith uttered when himself and Flavia Cacace were saved.

Westlife's Nicky Byrne threw off his hat when he became the third star through alongside Karen Hauer, Sid Owen and Colin Salmon followed.

Dani Harmer exhaled as she survived to dance another day, James Jordon told Denise van Outen he was proud of her as they become the seventh couple saved.

Fern Britton and Artem Chigvintsev beamed when made it through and Lisa Riley and Robin Windsor jumped around with joy.

'I just don't want it to end': Pendleton said that she isn't yet ready to leave the competition

Olympian Victoria Pendleton started crying as she believed she would be in the bottom, but looked relieved when her name was eventually called out.

Laughing at her, dance partner Brendan Cole quipped as he pulled her in for a hug: 'Look at you getting all emotional'.

Speaking about her reaction later with co-host Claudia Winkleman, Pendleton said: 'Just watching numbers go down and down you're like "Oh no".

'I just don't want it to end, I'm having such a good time and I just want to do a really good dance.'

Shocked: Richard Arnold admitted that he believed he would be in the bottom two

Richard Arnold was last to make it through and admitted to Winkleman that he genuinely thought he would be in this week's dance-off.

The results show also featured performances from Dionne Warwick and the cast of West End musical Top Hat.

Next Saturday night's show will be a Halloween special.

She said in a recent interview that she 'turns into a Beast' when she put on heels and gets on stage.

But despite belting out her best hits last night as she performed with Dionne Warwick in London, Alexandra Burke left a lot to be desired in an outfit which did nothing to flatter her slim figure.

Former X Factor winner Alexandra wore a dress which featured a plunging sheer black lace top and a full pink skirt - an overall outfit which made her appear much bigger than she actually is.

The 23-year-old singer teamed the dress with silver earrings, and wore her black hair slicked back into a quiff.

In a recent interview with Javari.co.uk, Alexandra said she finds that she really gets into her element when she's on stage.

She said: 'I’ve been training in heels since the age of 14. My sister once said to me: ‘If you really want to be a superstar like Beyoncé, you have to be able to dance in heels.

And last night Alexandra achieved one of her life's aims as she performed alongside singing legend Dionne Warwick.

Before the performance, Alexandra wrote on her Twitter page: 'About to perform with Dionne Warwick... So nervous x'

She later added: 'Show done.. I can't believe my luck. I actually got to sing with Dionne Warwick. I'm still speechless.'

Alexandra also tweeted pictures of herself backstage at the performance, looking radiant as she smiled for the camera.
