Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has thrown her support behind former X Factor contestantLauren Platt who revealed this week that she's giving up music to pursue a TV career.

The former Girls Aloud singer - who herself made the move from music to TV when she joined the panel of the X Factor - told the teenager she was "so proud," of her following the announcement.

Lauren became the youngest ever solo finalist to reach the show when Cheryl chose her in her final three, eventually coming fourth in the competition, behind winner Sam Bailey.

The now 17 year-old - who has already carved out a successful YouTube following - insisted on Twitter that she hasn't completely shut the door on music, but was just trying other things.

"Obviously I'm never ever giving up singing guys..but aswell as singing why not take all of the other amazing opportunities I've been given," she wrote after her first appearance on Good Morning Britain.

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain earlier today, the star revealed that she now has her sights set on presenting.

In fact, she's already been offered the chance to present her own talent show next year by the BBC called Got What It Takes.

Explaining the reasoning behind her sudden career change, Lauren revealed it all started when she fell ill last year.

"I had to take a little bit of a backseat from singing because I got really really ill just before and just after The X Factor tour. Well, actually, I got ill while I was on the show really but it wasn't picked up on.

"You can still hear the croakiness in my voice now - especially in the mornings.

"So yeah, I did take a bit of a backseat. I panicked at the time but do you know what? I think it was a blessing in disguise. I still love singing but I've found so many different avenues that I love doing instead, like presenting."

The setback inspired Lauren to launch her own YouTube channel which was an instant hit with fans.

It also impressed industry insiders as the Essex teen admitted this is what persuaded the BBC to hire her for her first presenting job on TV.

Alesha Dixon used her gold buzzer to put through dance group Entity Alltstars to the live shows on Saturday night's episode of Britian's Got Talent. 

And it was X Factor star Lauren Platt's younger brother, Lewis, who stood out from the troupe, which also consisted of 20 of his friends, all aged between 10-15.

'My sister Lauren Platt came fourth on last year’s X Factor and I was lucky enough to dance with her on the live shows,' the young star explained. 'So I went back and got the team and said, "let’s do it".'

Receiving a standing ovation from the audience and all four judges, the dance troupe were reduced to tears after they stunned the room with their impeccable break-dancing skills.

'You absolutely smashed it,' yelled Alesha Dixon.

David Walliams quipped: 'You are absolute world class.'

'It felt so dynamic and so many dance crews come up here and say, "Oh yeah, we’ve got something different" but you smashed it today,' explained Amanda Holden.

'This is why Great Britain is great,' Simon Cowell said. 'Seriously unbelievable, great choice Alesha. 

'I kind of feel that I’m sort of part of your crew because I did invite you onto the show so I am part of you.'

Alesha went on to say: 'I think you’re fantastic. The strength and the power and the focus and the determination was superb. You absolutely smashed.'

They have talent: The dance troupe were reduced to tears after they received a standing ovation from the audience and all four judges

The show kicked off with Aaron Carty, a former policeman from London, who transformed into a Beyonce impersonator.

Impressing all four judges, Alesha shouted: ‘You were fierce girl. You’re fabulous darling.’

With David adding: ‘You make a very beautiful woman, I’ll tell you that. Feel free to arrest me anytime.’

Also impressing the panel was Russian-born Vladimir Georgievsky, who had everyone gasping and grimacing with his death-defying trampoline act. 

David teased: 'I think you're secretly really good at trampolining, aren't you?! That was great and we're always saying we're looking for something new.'

'It was great to see a younger audience enjoy something like this,' added Amanda.

Dancing to Jessie J's track Bang Bang, Dylan Byrd failed to impress Alesha, who was the only judge to press the red button 

'I buzzed because I personally didn't think you were up to the standard that I'm looking for,' she explained.

To make matters worse, the 16-year-old told the Strictly Come Dancing winner that it was her dancing that inspired him.

The episode also featured former Playboy model and magician Chloe Crawford, strongman Daniel Crute and Hungarian shadow theatre dance group UDI.

She's host of the Xtra Factor so of course Sarah-Jane Crawford was at the O2 to see the X Factor live tour.

The radio DJ chose a 60s vibe for her outfit and beauty as she made her way through the South East London venue.

The 33-year-old was wearing a classic high-necked shift dress in a simple navy and white stripe.

The short hemline and half beehive only added to the retro look.

Instead of a full homage to Twiggy, though, she stopped short of spider-leg lashes and wing flicked liquid eye-liner, choosing rather to have a dark smoky eye and a peach blush and lips.

He long brown hair was in loose curls past her shoulders and she kept her accessories simple.

The dark haired presenter wore a pair of nude pointed stiletto heels with a crocodile effect blue box handbag.

Sarah was recently revealed to be four years older than the age the public had assumed but reps are adamant that she never lied.

It appears that she may have been happy to let people assume she was 29 because of the work she does.

Feeling the pressure? She apparently went along with the conception that she was 29 rather than 33 because of the pressures of working in a young entertainment environment

BBC Radio 1Xtra has a largely young crowd of listeners and the X Factor is known to appeal to a lot of children and adolescents.

Many of whom no doubt, were in the crowd on Friday night as the top contestants on last year's show took to the stage.

Fleur East has was tearing up the dance floor yet again for another signature performance of Uptown Fun.

The 26-year-old was showing less abs than usual, opting rather for a racy bondage style set of crop top and trousers.

Never shy of a good stage outfit, Fleur took the opportunity, on the Irish leg of the tour to crack out the leathers.

While she did give her mega-toned midriff a bit of a display, her look was showing off he shapely arms and left little to the imagination everywhere else.

The trousers had a distinctly biker feel with several zips across the legs and lines of stitching over the thighs. 

She added a pair of buckled high-heeled ankle boots to the strictly all-leather outfit.

The top looked designed with inspiration taken from Ancient Rome, combining a tight leather bustier with buckled neck straps, a caged midriff section and chainmail around the neck and waist.

She left her signature afro loose and big and added a slick of bright red lipstick as she performed her chart topping routine.

Back in classic Stevie Ritchie form, the former panto star had a bevy of women around him as he danced and thrusted around the stage.

Also taking her place on the tour was Lauren Platt, the 17-year-old wore an oversized t-shirt dress and sports socks as she sang her tracks.

She has been at the centre of controversy surrounding the appearance of her waist as one of Disney's best-loved princesses.

But putting the criticism to one side, Lily James cut an icy figure on Thursday evening at the UK premiere of Cinderella.

Taking to the blue carpet at London's Odeon Leicester Square, the 25-year-old looked amazing in a sparkly silver bandeau gown which featured a thigh high split.

Striking various poses for photographers, the Surrey born actress stood tall in a pair of chrome coloured strapped heeled sandals.

Beautified with two large gold buttons, Lily's dress was the polar opposite of the bouffant gown she wears in the famous fairytale.

From behind-the-scenes to the frontline... Cinderella costume designer Sandy Powell and producer Amanda Lamb were both in tow

The $95million live-action fantasy is set to hit cinemas in the UK on March 27 and also stars Cate Blanchett, Hayley Atwell and Ben Chaplin.

Directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh, the film was inspired by Charles Perrault's fairy tale Cinderella and borrows elements from the unforgettable 1950 Disney animated motion picture.

Although the film has received positive review, it recently faced backlash due to the appearance of Cinderella's tiny waist in her ball gown.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of the premiere, Lily hit back at critics deeming the issue 'irrelevant'.

Stating that children are more interested in Cinderella's morals than her body, she said: 'Why on earth are we focusing on something so irrelevant?'

'I've had friends' kids and a little boy called Daniel, whose nine, who said "it's amazing how you promised your mum to be kind and good and you remembered it" that's the message,' Lily explained.
