At first glance it could be a scene from the Paranormal Activity series.

A screaming toddler can be seen on a 'nanny cam' climbing the side of his cot, before precariously standing up and balancing on the side rail.

The creepy YouTube video has had more than 2.5 million views, and promoted many people to claim to child was 'possessed'.

Demon child? A video of a 'possessed' toddler balancing precariously on the side oh his crib has the internet spooked

'Caught on Nanny cam in the middle of the night... No children were harmed. This is not my child in the video,' YouTube account Chris and Keelan Chronicles wrote alongside the clip.

The 52-second video shows a clearly distressed toddler crying in their cot in the middle of the night.

As they continue to wail the child, named Connor, appears to scale the side of the crib before hauling his body upright on the railing.

Paranormal: Connor balances on the side of the crib for a total of 22 second, before falling back on to the mattress with a thud

Connor stands on the railing for 22 second, all the while screaming and calling out 'mummy'.

At one point his eyes flash bright, eerily lighting up the dark room.

Then, with a loud thud, Connor falls backwards on the mattress.

But if you look closely just before he falls he disappears, which viewers have taken as evidence that the video a fake.

Opinions divided: The fake video had views divided, with some suggesting the child was 'just good at balancing'

Despite the obvious discrepancies, the video still had viewers divided.

'This will end up being part of a new horror movie... I guess,' one apparent skeptic wrote.

But while some were quick to shun the idea of paranormal activity, they did believe the child was able to pull himself up on the railing.

'Not possessed its just good at balancing.. It would however been scary if the baby fell forwards,' wrote another.

She never fails to shock and entertain her fans, with one outrageous outfit following another. 

So as Halloween draws closer, Lady Gaga took inspiration from ghosts and ghouls and stripped naked as she performed in a banshee costume at G-A-Y on Friday. 

The 27-year-old singer appeared on stage looking pale and ethereal in a long, white petticoat-style gown.

She sported a long frazzled blonde wig and enhanced her already porcelain skin with a dusting of white powder on her hands and neck.

She also lined her eyes with white shadow and eyeliner and made her eyebrows paler, while she also reminded fans that she was still in the land of the living with a touch of blusher and rose-pink lips.

Gaga made the most of her floaty outfit and long wild hair, moving her arms around in an exaggerated fashion as she performed.

The controversial singer proceeded to surprise her audience, throwing off her gown to reveal her nudity and waving her arms in the air.

The star recently told The Independent that there are messages behind her fashion choices and her song lyrics. 

She said: ‘all of my songs have meaning, all of my clothing has iconography buried into it. 

‘But by the same token, [my work] is just as special if you look at it in its shallowest form. The point is that it’s memorable. [To make] commercial art be taken seriously is a difficult task.’

Gaga is currently preparing for the release of her third album ARTPOP, which is set to be released on 11 November. 

She is also set to star in a special episode of The Muppets in a 90-minute special on American network ABC. 

Sir Elton John and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are among the other guests who will be a part of the show.

Lady Gaga & The Muppets' Holiday Spectacular will air on 28 November, which is Thanksgiving in the US.

Lady Gaga is also set to perform on Sunday's X Factor live show.

The British X-Files: Natural History Museum sets up unit to investigate bizarre phenomenon such as Somerset's 'space slime'

The secrets of the universe, including the origins of a mysterious 'space slime' are slowly being unravelled by a unit of museum experts dubbed the 'British X-Files'.

Carrying out work which would leave even the cult television show's Fox Mulder and Dana Scully baffled, the team at the Natural History Museum have been tasked with identifying a host of bizarre items discovered by the British public.

Among the finds examined by the museum's Identification and Advisory Service was a mysterious slime discovered in a peaceful nature reserve in Somerset.

The object appeared to be a meteor, although this was not confirmed by astronomers.

Nature buffs claimed the slime was merely frogspawn, while others said it was 'star jelly', a strange substance said to appear when meteors fall to earth, which has continued to stump scientists.

The London museum's Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity, which houses the Identification and Advisory Service, was tasked with investigating the mysterious slime, with the aim of establishing whether it had fallen from space, or if its origins were rather more terrestrial. 

Laboratory tests have so far failed to find just what it could be - and where it had come from.

The tooth is out there: A deer skull was mistaken for that on an ice-age sabre tooth cat because of its long tusks

Scientists from the unit extracted DNA from the jelly and tried to match it against that of birds and frogs, without success.

DNA traces of worms and bacteria were found in the substance, but these were not thought to have been the source of the slim, and had more likely come from organisms which colonised the matter.

Chesca Rogers, from the AMC, has been working on the mysterious substance since it was sent to
the unit by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, which runs the nature reserve where it was found in February.

'The slime is still a genuine mystery,' Ms Rogers told The Daily Telegraph.

'There are stories in folklore that link it with meteor sightings. Some people think it might be unfertilised frog spawn, others think it is a fungus, or a slime mould or that it is plant related.

'None of the tests we have done so far have told us anything conclusive, but the samples we got were not in the best condition and highly contaminated.'

Ms Rogers is set to open up her very own X-Files this Friday at a museum talk where she will explain how she has been unravelling the mystery, as well as other examples of the AMC's most intriguing and puzzling cases.

However, some of the mysteries of finds brought to the AMC by eagle-eyed members of the public have proved easier to solve.

The haul has included stones they believe to be the remains of a dinosaur and 'meteorites' that are in fact discarded aluminium foil.

A skull believed to have belonged to an ice-age sabre tooth cat, its fur still intact, was instead found to be that of a Chinese Water Deer, thought to have been mistaken for the ancient predator because of its long tusks which could have been mistaken for powerful teeth.

Other animal remains have been mistaken for something even more incredible, such as the pelvis bones of sea birds, such as auks and puffins, which were thought by their imaginative discoverers to be dragon skulls. 

In one case, which initially appeared to be one for agents Mulder and Scully, an 'alien' in a jar of liquid was brought in, only to be revealed as a science fiction toy.

It's scary enough watching Carrie wreak havoc with her telekinetic powers on a movie screen. Imagine what it would be like to see it while you were ordering a latte.

For some unsuspecting patrons of a New York City coffee shop, a scary confrontation straight out of a Stephen King novel (and its two movie adaptations) happened right before their eyes. But creating supernatural occurrences in real life takes a lot of planning and effort. Watch the video of the prank inspired by the upcoming new version of "Carrie," then read on to find out how the creative team made it happen (without dumping pig blood on anybody).

The video was the creation of Thinkmodo, the New York-based viral video marketing company. The company previously grabbed headlines with their video that showed a man "hacking" the video screens in Times Square (actually a promotion for the Bradley Cooper movie "Limitless"). And they flew remote control airplanes that looked like flying people over the Hudson River for the superhero flick "Chronicle." But to create a stunt for "Carrie," it took an army of technicians, actors, stunt performers, and one very amenable coffee shop.

Being stuck in a lift without power or light is an unsettling experience for most people.

But throw in a little ghost girl who seemingly suddenly appears from nowhere and it becomes terrifying.

The concept is a popular prank on a Brazilian television show.

In the video the adults who are set up are seen arriving in reception and are shown to a lift.

They think they are traveling up- although the lift is actually still - until it suddenly halts and the lights go out.

Reactions range from jumping in the air, cowering in the corner and jamming the emergency button.

None of the unfortunate victims realise it is a prank and as the lights flicker on and off she reappears from the hiding place.
