Eyes front captain: Chris Pine could not help but stare as he acted out the scene with the English actress
And it seems the 31-year-old Men In Black 3 favourite will be a prominent character in the forthcoming feature, as she is playing scientist Dr Carol Marcus.
Fans of the original series will know the character was the love of Kirk's life, and the mother to his only son David.
Even more importantly, her character created the Genesis device that could create life on barren planets, and which was the main focus of the film The Wrath of Khan and its follow-up, The Search for Spock.

Fans also got more insight into the mysterious villain being played by English thespian Benedict Cumberbatch.
The trailer opens with a terrifying terrorist bombing in London, and it emerges his character John Harrison is a 'former agent' of Star Fleet.
In a voiceover the 36-year-old Hawking favourite says: 'Your commanders have committed a crime that I can not forgive. None of you are safe.'
His co-star Karl Urban inadvertently blabbed in December that he would be playing Gary Mitchell a an old academy friend of Kirk who ends up transformed into a wrathful God-like antagonist after encountering the galactic barrier.

Terrorist of the future: Spiteful villain John Harrison is responsible for a bombing in London
Explosive: The attack certainly seems to have the desired effect as fire ravages the British capitol
Man on a mission: Harrison does not seem worried to be in the custody of Star Fleet as he marches ahead of Kirk and Spock
And while the comic book delivering the background story to the forthcoming film showed this character 'dying' and being given a space burial after being hit by phaser fire, this does not preclude Cumberbatch playing Mitchell's angry and vengeful alter-ego.
The rest of the trailer is filled with rapid fire clips showing the thrilling action sequences taht are the hallmark of JJ Abrams re-imagined Star Trek universe.
And Kirk's trademark cockiness is also clearly evident, as he orders Spock to fly their shuttle craft through a narrow gap in what appears to be a large space station, despite the Vulcan warning him 'We will not fit.'
