Those dreams eventually died and Whedon switched comic book teams to have staggering success with the first two Marvel Avengers movies.
Patty Jenkins eventually brought Diana Prince back to life but Whedon is about to sign of the dotted line to helm the first standalone outing for another major female superhero.

Variety has an exclusive report that the movie studio is close to finalising a deal with Whedon that would see him retaining extensive creative control over the project.
