She made her red carpet debut earlier in the night in a frock that was frowned upon by fashion critics.

So Ireland Baldwin chose to up her sartorial game as she arrived at the Vanity Fair Oscars party wearing a plunging purple gown, that just about kept her modesty in check.

The 18-year-old model turned fashion reporter stepped out in the floor length gown, when turned to the side the violet fabric just about clung to the right places.

Paring the grown up look with strappy gold heels, gold cuff bracelet and ring the daughter of actor Alex Baldwin chose to carry a simply black clutch bag to finish the look.

Friend and fellow model Gigi Hadid tweeted a picture of the pair in the back of a taxi on their way to the party, posing and pouting for a back seat selfie.

The ash blonde model posed with a bevvy of light haired ladies at the event, including fellow models Gigi, Karlie Kloss, singer Taylor Swift and actress Jamie King.

Ireland divided opinions earlier in the evening as she has been named on multiple worst dressed lists of the evening, as she chose to pair a lacy ox-blood Burberry gown with gold strappy shoe.

Ireland Baldwin arrived early to the Oscars to present for Entertainment Tonight, opting for a burgundy lace Burberry Prorsum gown, also with a thigh-high slit for added sex appeal.

Unfortunately, the dress's matronly design and unflattering fit did not do much for the 18-year-old model daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger.

Ireland seemed to be having a great time larking around on the red carpet with her fellow presenters Nancy O'Dell and Joe Zee.

Ireland had previously revealed she was overwhelmed when E gave her the opportunity, saying: 'I'm not used to being on camera so it's interesting. I'm into it, I love it.'

Tweeting after completing her first shift as fashion reporter the model said: 'That concludes my wild red carpet experience with @etnow ! Thank you for letting me in on all the Oscar fun!'

Movies have traditionally been the more glamorous cousin of television.

And Hollywood A-lister Lucy Liu didn't disappoint today as she made an appearance at the summer press tour party for the Television Critics Association at the Beverly Hills Hilton.

The 43-year-old, who became a household name with Ally McBeal but went on to have a huge career in Hollywood films, wore a stunning black dress with a cutaway cleavage to the awards.

Looking much younger than her years, the Charlie's Angels star clasped a simple red clutch and accessorised her outfit with tiny drop earrings and a gold watch.

The actress came back to the small screen this year, joining the cast of the TNT original series Southland.

She joined dozens of other television names at the TCA party, including Rachel Bilson, who left her designer frocks at home and opted for trousers on the red carpet.

The O.C. actress stepped out in black trousers and a sleeveless cream blouse with black pocket trimmings and a huge satin bow at her neck.

The 30-year-old beauty completed her flawless look with cream heels and an unusual hairstyle which saw her brunette locks swept to one side and pulled loosely from her face.

The actress, who turns 31 at the end of August, is about to begin shooting season two of her latest TV series Hart of Dixie.

Joining Rachel on the red carpet was Sin City actress Jamie King, who plays Lemon Breeland in the new CW show Hart of Dixie, which premiered last September.

Jamie also made a somewhat bold fashion choice with a black-and-blue floral print tailored dress with a high neck and fluted skirt.

The blonde former model wore her hair pulled back in a bun and rounded out her look with black strappy heels, a black clutch and a splash of bright red lipstick.

Also attending the CW, CBS and Showtime 2012 Summer TCA party was model and media personality Tyra Banks.

The America's Next Top Model host opted for an off-the-shoulder black dress and black heels.

The Mentalist actress Robin Tunney, meanwhile, looked stunning in a floor-length emerald green number.

Sequins made an entry with 2 Broke Girls star Beth Behrs, who shone in a black and white evening gown which she paired with black stilettos and a black clutch.

Australian actress and Chuck star Yvonne Strahovski also made a striking entrance in evening wear, wearing a high-necked back taffeta dress with circular appliques.

Jessica Lowndes, a Canadian singer and actress best known for her role as Adrianna in 90210, showed off her tanned pins in a very short white dress with a chiffon outer layer and towering blue suede heels.

The other half of the 2 Broke Girls duo, Kat Dennings, showcased her generous cleavage and curves in a figure-hugging midnight blue strapless dress.

The CBS comedy is one of the most watched shows of 2011 and 2012.

One Tree Hill actress Sophia Bush stood out in a simple but gorgeous dress in fire-engine red, while Shameless star Emmy Rossum was all class in black and white lace.
