Keith Chegwin loses out to Samia Ghadie in the skate-off as TV presenter is booted off Dancing on Ice

Fourth time unlucky: Keith Chegwin loses out to Samia Ghadie in the skate-off as TV presenter is booted off Dancing on Ice

It was his fourth time in the skate-off but Keith Chegwin couldn't compete against Samia Ghadie and found himself voted out of Dancing on Ice on Sunday night.
The TV presenter was kicked off the show after failing to impress the judges with her skate-off skills with just Jason Gardiner voting to save him.
Keith didn't seem bitter about his defeat and said: 'I've waited a whole year to be on this show and it has not let me down.'

He praised his partner Olga Sharutenko and said: 'Olga has been such a treat.'
Keith's fate was sealed by head judge Robin Cousins after Ashley Roberts and Karen Barber both voted to keep Samia in the competition.
With just one vote for Keith from Jason, Robin gave his verdict and said: 'This is a skating competition, Samia you have proved you can skate.'

He added: 'Where the skating does take precedence, I'm saving Samia.'
Keith had managed to rack up his highest score of the competition earlier in the day.
The 56-year-old TV presenter haopened the show with a rock theme skating to 21st Century Boy by Bad Religion and he was awarded 25 points by the judges.

Robin Cousins told him: 'I just love how you commit to every single ounce of being that you have with every single performance that you give. The performance itself was terrific.'
But Keith found himself on the losing team in the group performance after Beth Tweddle's team failed to beat Matt Lapinkas' group.
The former EastEnders actor scooped a double win picking up the highest score of the series in the individual skate.

Samia Ghadie appears to confirm romance with Sylvain after judges criticise DOI performance

'We're meant to be together aren't we?' Samia Ghadie appears to confirm romance with Sylvain after judges criticise DOI performance

Samia Ghadie appeared to finally admit she and partner Sylvain Longchambon were a couple on Sunday's Dancing On Ice.
Following disappointing criticism from the judges for her over-reliance on the French professional on the rink, the Coronation Street actress admitted it was hard to be separated from him.
After host Phillip Schofield asked why 'can't you let him go?', Samia replied: 'He's lovely. We're meant to be together aren't we?

'I can only do the choreography that I've been given. I couldn't wait to do that routine.'
The pair, who have been romantically linked since they started skating together on the show, have previously refused to confirm reports they are dating.
News of their apparent romance comes after they split from their respective partners Jennifer Metcalfe and Will Thorp in December.
However, the judges, presenters and mentor Christopher Dean all hinted at their romance in the VT prior to their live performance.

After Samia was heavily criticised for her lack of skating skills last week, she barely left Sylvain's side for this week's routine to Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You.
She ended up with a total score of 22 - ending up joint second to last on the leaderboard with Keith Chegwin.
Jason Gardiner was rather blunt with his criticism: 'You're the tabletop mountain of the competition. You've plateaued. You're not improving.

'He's controlling everything you're doing on the ice. It's too contained and restricted. We need more performance honey.'
Head judge Robin Cousins agreed: 'You're confident cos you're in Sylvain's hands for 99.9 per cent of the routine.
'I would like to see some separation from him where you control your destiny. You have to at some point skate.'

Despite their apparent romance, Ashley Roberts felt their routine was lacking passion: 'I can tell you feel more confident with Sylvain. There were moments that were beautiful. But then there were moments I felt some separation. The passion wasn't quite there.'
This week's theme was 'Love Week' ahead of Valentine's Day, with the contestants kicking off the show with a group routine to Seventies disco classic Love Is In The Air.
Gareth Thomas and his partner Robin Johnstone were the first to dance, skating to Labrinth featuring Emeli Sande's Beneath Your Beautiful.
The Welsh rugby ace received an impressive total score of 30, including a 8.5 for Karen.

As expected, Jason and Karen's opinions on Gareth's performances differed, with them disagreeing over the athlete's lifts.
Jason told him: 'I'm a big fan. But tonight I would have liked to see a little more tenderness and more vulnerability. I wanna see more development in the arms.
'Soften them a little more. Apart from that you're working in the right decoration. I wanna see you change up the lifts.'

Karen contradicted him: 'That was a brand new lift and it was performed brilliantly. The performance was strong and gentle. It was very, very beautiful.'
After hearing his feedback, Gareth defending his lifts: 'I may be strong, but you need technique to do the lifts.'
Jason attempted to explain his criticism, saying: 'I wanna see more dynamic, fast lifts.'
However, Karen responded: 'You want to see more fast lifts to a slow, beautiful song?'

Although he had evidently improved from previous weeks, he ended up with a total of 18.5.
Ashley praised Joe for developing: 'Always making me smile. I'd tiptop through some tulips with you. There was some prestige-ness in the upper body.'

Jason added: 'Joe does absurd and ridiculous naturally. There was a lot more content this week. You were leading a little bit more. It's improving so well done.'
Third to skate was actor Matt Lapinskas and Canadian professional Brianne Delcourt, performing to The Lumineers' song Ho Hey.
After ending up in the skate-off last week, the former EastEnders actor admitted he had lost his confidence and ended up receiving a 28.5.

Jason admitted something was lacking compared to previous weeks: 'First of all, you're working a little bit better today. For me, I just felt there wasn't the same Matt we're used to seeing.
'It didn't have the same energy. The technicality was there, but you lost something special tonight.'
Robin agreed: 'It started out brilliantly, but lost its way a little bit, but then improved towards the end. The bravado of Matt needs to come back but with the control.'

Luke Campbell and his partner Jenna Smith ended up with a 24.0 to their routine to Buddy Holly's Everyday.
The Olympic boxer was struggling with the lifts because of hurting his wrist and ended up making last-minute changes to the routine in the dress rehearsal.
Jason was left red-faced after he praised Luke for performing a pressage lift... which was actually removed from the routine due to the star's injury.

He said: 'I can see that improvement. I liked the pressage lifts. Please stop licking your lips throughout it. Licking your lips throughout that looks like you're hungry.'
However, Jason's arch-rival Karen contradicted him: 'You notice everything Jason, but there was no pressage lift there... we took it out.

TV presenter Keith Chegwin showed he was continuing to perform as he skated to McFly's It's All About You with partner Olga Sharutenko, ending up with a 22.0.
Robin remarked: 'Its such a pleasure to watch you enjoy yourself on the routine. You're in control. I do want to see the basics getting tighter. You're moving with such confidence.'
Although she told him his smile 'lit up the room', Ashley pointed out Keith's lines were lacking: 'Make sure they're strong, long and giving that strength.'

Last to skate on Sunday's show was Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle and her partner Dan Whiston.
The pair narrowly missed  the top spot on the leaderboard after getting a 29.5 for their routine to Rihanna's We Found Love.
The judges agreed Beth's anxiety over the headbanger in the routine affected her performance somewhat.
Ashley told her: 'I did love it and it was tricky and the technique is there. But I wanted to see that fire throughout that routine. I wanna see the fire and the attack in the performance. I wanna see that fierceness.'

The laughter stops: Dancing On Ice joker Joe Pasquale voted off after going head-to- head with fellow prankster Keith Chegwin

It was battle of the jokers on Sunday night's Dancing On Ice after Keith Chegwin went head-to-head with long-time friend Joe Pasquale.
However, it was the comedian and his partner Vicky Ogden who lost out after the judges saved TV presenter Keith and Olga Sharutenko following their 'save me' skate-off.
The pair were in the bottom two after receiving the least amount of public votes and had earlier ended up languishing last on this week's leaderboard.

Shayne Ward is booted off Dancing On Ice although it's Matt Lapinskas who takes a tumble in the skate-off

Shock exit! Shayne Ward is booted off Dancing On Ice although it's Matt Lapinskas who takes a tumble in the skate-off

After battling it out in the skate-off against Matt Lapinskas, Shayne Ward became the latest contestant to be booted off of Dancing On Ice on Sunday night.
Despite the fact that former favourite Matt fell over during his skate-off, three of the four judges chose to save him over former X Factor winner Shayne.
The pressure was on this week as contestants had to perform a 30 second solo routine, but Shane clearly failed to impress the voting public, despite picking up his best score yet from the judges.

Clearly emotional, he told host Philip Schofield: 'Matt was always going to come out on top. Thank you guys - you're such a great bunch.'
The judges decided to save Matt despite the fact that he fell on the ice during his save me skate, claiming that he was the better skater overall.
'This is the skate-off that should never have been,' said Karen Barber. 'Neither of you should be here but I'm going to save Matt.'

'Shayne you skated the best you've ever skated, but I'm also going to save Matt.' said fellow judge Ashley Roberts.
Jason Gardiner was clearly unimpressed with the fact that Matt fell during his routine and opted to save Shayne instead.
'In my opinion the save me skate should be skated perfectly - which is why I'm saving Shayne,' he said.
After an agonising wait, head judge Robin Cousins also decided to save Matt, putting him through to next week.

Matt, who has been one of the strongest skaters throughout the competition, was visibly upset about being in the bottom two.
After his tumble in the skate-off he broke down in tears admitting that he felt like he had let everyone down.
Keith Chegwin, who has been in the skate-off twice, was the first to be put through to next week, followed by leader Beth Tweddle, who bagged the top score.

The last safe contestant was Samia Ghadie, who was also bottom of the board, meaning that Matt and Shayne had received the fewest public votes.
In a complete turnaround in positions on the leaderboard, Olympian Beth bagged the top spot after being awarded the best score of the series.

'The team fell apart when Sylvain left your side,' admitted head judge Robin Cousins.
'It was tragic, darling,' said an unimpressed Jason Gardiner.
'That whole solo section fell apart for me. We can see that you are very much reliant on Sylvain. This shows that you're not up to par as a solo skater,' he added.

The judges loved the dramatic performance which incorporated ballet moves, giving him a total of 28, the second highest score of the series.
