King of the jungle! Kian Egan wins I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! 2013

Kian Egan has been declared the king of the jungle in I’m A Celebrity 2013.
On leaving the jungle after an all-boys final with David Emanuel, Kian said: 'It was the best three weeks of my life.'
He told the show's hosts Ant and Dec that he made 'amazing friends', adding 'it is genuinely something you'll never forget - I recommend it even to you two!'

He said one of the most challenging moments of the show was taking part in the Bushtucker final feast, in which he ate a fish eyeball.
He said 'I had never gagged until yesterday - all the other trials I was mentally prepared for.
'I think the fish eye was the worst thing I'd ever encountered. It was like thousand-year-old fish but thick and slimy.'

Kian also commented on being the camp chef, saying that cooking wasn't a particular forte of his.

He said: I went in there with no intentions about being the cook. It started naturally and escalated.'

He explained that his biggest difficulty as the cook was 'chopping up the possum and trying to make the most of it'.

He said: 'It's a dream. The dream is now reality. I didn't really think i could hack it.'
He explained that he thought the celebrities would have had access to luxuries once the cameras were off.
He said: 'I thought we could do a little then we go off and have a bacon sandwich.'

The fashion designer also joked that he was unaccustomed to living it rough, saying: 'I like beautiful things - beautiful women and beautiful fabrics, but I didn't see any of that in the show!'
He also said he thought about yelling 'I'm a celebrity...get me out of here!' when a snake ventured underneath his trousers in a Bushtucker trail.

He said: 'That snake went to parts it shouldn't go to. It proceeded to wrap itself around my waist. I thought "how could I be killed on national television!"'

He added that appearing on the show had been a personal accomplishment and had helped him lose weight after surgery for prostate cancer.
He said: 'I was - dare I say - impressed with myself. This time last year I had overcome surgery for prostate cancer.
It was a severe blow and I thought if I could conquer cancer I could conquer the jungle and I think I have.' Enlarge The finalists: David Emanuel and Kian Egan compete in I'm A Celebrity

'You can survive - I needed to lose weight after the operation and I managed it.' He added that his daughter advised him to 'show the real you.'
On the last show of the series, both stars couldn’t quite believe how they had survived until the finale.
Kian told David: ‘You’ve come in here and outlasted everyone else and that’s because you are a good guy and people vote for nice people.
‘I have a fan base of Westlife fans but nothing like what Joey has – he has over 2 million followers on twitter, I have 250k.

‘That’s still a lot but even so he has 1.75m more than me so it’s like, what has happened? It’s way beyond my expectations. I never expected to be here in the final. I’m absolutely gobsmacked.’
David agreed: ‘I’m deeply honoured, I can’t quite understand this whole thing, and all I know is that I’ve had the most amazing time in here.’
Kian and David had to do a final Bush Tucker Trial to win their final evening meal. They would each be given four gruesome courses and would earn an evening meal for each one they managed to eat.

Before the trial, Kian said: ‘It’s the one I’ve been dreading the most, I’m not going to lie.  Put me in a cage with any animal, hang me out of a helicopter, no problem, but this is the one I feared the most.  But that’s why we’re here, to be challenged.’
David was given Cheese Fruit Fondue for starter – a bowl of blended cheese fruit with King Cricket on the side. 'Do this for my country,' he said as he took his first bite.  ‘It’s bitter,’ he said as he screwed up his face.
Kian was given Tap-ass for starter – Ostrich anus in a tapas dish with some dressing. ‘It looks like chicken, tastes like chicken.  It’s alright,’ he said as he ate it without too much difficulty.

Next David was given Cock Au Van for his main course – A pig’s penis floating in a casserole.  ‘He’s a big boy,’ said David.  ‘It’s like rubber,’ he said as he put it in his mouth.
Kian was given Fish and Nips for his main course – Fish and cows udder.  As Kian tried to eat it he gagged.  ‘I’ve never gagged before.  That’s the first time in my life,’ he said.
David was given Seaworm Sundae for dessert – Sundae glass filled with live beach worms.  He gagged but after he finished it he said: ‘Totes amazeballs. I’ve learnt that since I’ve been here.’

Kian had Cock –olate Eye Scream – a fish eye and a cockroach.  ‘Oh my god. Disgusting,’ he said as he ate the cockroach.
He ate the eyeball extremely quickly leading Ant and Dec to tell him that he had topped the record as nobody in the history of the series had ever eaten an eyeball so quickly.
Finally they were given drinks.  David had Cham-pain – blended cockroach, cricket and mealworm.  Kian advised David to ‘Go back to your college days when you were downing drinks in a bar.’  David replied, ‘One didn’t do  that.’  He downed the drink and said, ‘Truly disgusting.’

Kian was given an Eggspresso – a mug containing blended fermented duck egg, and said: ‘Have you ever vomited into your own mouth?  Multiply that by a million and put really sour eggs in the middle.’
David and Kian both successfully consumed all of their courses meaning they could look forward to a delicious three course evening meal with beverages.
David’s menu consisted of smoked salmon on brown bread with lemon and pepper, a fillet steak with mushrooms, tomatoes and fries followed by Eton Mess and washed down with a glass of beer.
Kian’s dinner was margarita pizza with Peri Peri sauce to start, burger and chips and then banoffee pie and to quench his thirst, he also drank beer.
‘We’ll be up and down to the toilet like yo-yo’s after that dinner,' said Kian. 'Particularly when you consider everything we’ve eaten today,’ said David.

While rumours about the line-up have been rife for months, the 10 names entering the jungle when the show kicks off on November 17th were confirmed by ITV on Wednesday.
For the girls, Emmerdale actress Lucy Pargeter and EastEnders' Big Mo conclude the four female names that will be trying their luck in this year's Bushtucker trials.

On the boys' side, reality star Joey, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor Alfonso Ribeiro, Westlife singer Kian Egan, presenter Matthew Wright, snooker player Steve Davis and designer David Emanuel will all be heading into the jungle.
But Matthew admitted he is more than a little scared about having to face his phobias on the show - particularly his fear of spiders.
Admitting he had been hoping to get professional help for the phobia but ran out of time, Matthew said: 'I have a terror of spiders and based on the fact that I have seen every I'm A Celebrity so far, I will say, hand on heart, you have never seen anyone quite as frightened of spiders than me.

THE GIRLS:

AMY WILLERTON

Age: 21
Date of Birth: 18 August 1992
Known for: Being Miss Great Britain
AMY WILLERTON
Phobias: Weird things creep me out like china dolls!
Missing any special occasion: I have been so busy I haven’t had a chance to check my diary but I am sure I will be
Relationship status: Single
Is she looking for love in the jungle? 'I am completely and utterly single. I have no idea who is going in the jungle but I am going in knowing I might meet someone in there. If I meet someone in the jungle who is right, then who knows what will happen…!
What she's most scared about: 'I don’t have any massive phobias as such. In my family, if there is a spider, I am the one they send to get it. My phobias are actually stupid ones like china dolls. I am more scared of a china doll than I am a spider – which I know is stupid!  Weird things creep me out.'

LUCY PARGETER

Age: 36
Date of Birth: 1 March 1977
Known for: Playing Chas Dingle in Emmerdale
LUCY PARGETER
Missing any special occasions: Thankfully no. I will be home in time for Christmas.
Relationship Status: Engaged
Hardest thing she's anticipating: 'There is nothing I am really petrified of as a lot of it is mind over matter. You have not got any choice and you have to do it. But I can’t sit still for five minutes and I don’t do well with boredom. This is going to be a life experience for me. I am there on my own with people who I may or may not like, no food and things running about crawling all over you.'
Has she packed bikinis? 'I have chosen three, but not that anybody will see them. I will probably wear a modesty smock constantly!
What her aim is: 'I have got a job and I am not doing it to further my career. When I come out of the show, I will go back to Emmerdale. For me, it’s more of a personal challenge.'

LAILA MORSE

Age: 68
Date of Birth: 1 August 1945
Known for: Playing 'Big Mo' Harris in EastEnders
LAILA MORSE
Phobias: I am not a great lover of spiders and cockroaches
Missing any special occasions: No
Relationship status: Dating
What she's most excited about: 'I am really excited about doing this show. I love the trials, I love not knowing what is going on and I love what you have to put your head into! I am a bit frightened but I am still going to give it a bash!'
How she's prepared: 'I have tried to shrink my food intake but it is not working. You know you can eat. When you are in there, you will have nothing and so you will have to suck on a twig!'
What she expects to gain from the show: 'I don’t need to do this for other TV work. I have been in EastEnders for 13 years now. I am more or less like Mo, although I won’t be doing any dodgy deals! I still love playing her. It is part of my life being Mo. But it’s going to be fun doing this too.'

REBECCA ADLINGTON

Age: 24
Date of birth: 17 February 1989
Known for: Winning gold at the Olympics for swimming
REBECCA ADLINGTON
Missing any special occasions: Thankfully no
Relationship status: Engaged
Hardest thing she's anticipating: 'The daunting thing for me is the mixture of everything – you are starving, not sleeping very well and trying to cope with the boredom'
What she will miss the most: 'My fiancé Harry -  it’s the longest we have been apart. I have been away in the past for two to three weeks but at least we had Skype. I am also going to miss my two little dogs too!'
What her aim is: 'I am not going in the jungle to win it. I will be really pleased if I get half way. That is my target.
'For me, it’s all about people getting to know me better, having some fun and enjoying myself.  I never ever expected to be on a celebrity show. It’s going to be lovely getting to know the human, normal side of people and supporting each other as much as we can.'
If Mark can do it, so can he! Joey Essex heads into the jungle as did his former TOWIE castmate Mr Wright

'But it's not just spiders. I have a fear of heights, I don't like creepy crawlies and I am quite a fearful person underneath my tough, journalistic exterior.
'It's getting worse as I am getting older. I have to put a stop to it and this is my decision.'
Wright is not the only one of the show's 10 confirmed contestants to admit being scared of the creepy crawlies that regularly feature in the show's Bushtucker Trials.

David, Joey, Laila and Alfonso have all admitted to being afraid of creepy crawlies.
But US actor Ribeiro, who starred opposite Will Smith in the hit sitcom admitted he was more worried about missing his baby son who was only born a few weeks ago.
He said: 'I am going to miss them a tonne. I love being a dad. My little guy is just a ball of strength and energy and I can already tell he is going to be something.'

Known for: His Channel 5 chat show
matthew wright
Phobias: Absolutely terrified of spiders
Missing any special occasions: Yes my daily weekday talk show on Channel 5
Relationship status: Married
What he's most scared about: 'Based on the fact that I have seen every I’m A Celebrity so far, I will say, hand on heart, you have never seen anyone quite as frightened of spiders than me. I know I will be teary. I just don’t want to act as big a girl as Paul Burrell. That was the most humiliating moment I have seen on television and my wife, Amelia, worries I can out do Paul Burrell. I am still hoping I won’t.'
Who would be his nightmare campmate? 'If you could create this horrible mixture of Sinitta and Helen Flanagan, then that is pretty close to the creature that would be my nightmare camp mate.'

DAVID EMANUEL

Age: 60
Date of Birth: 17 November 1952
Known for: Designing Diana’s wedding dress
david emanuel
Phobias: Everything, anything – you name it. Claustrophobia, heights, creepy crawlies
Missing any special occasions: It’s my birthday in the jungle! Also, the Emanuel family get together in the last weekend for a special Christmas get-together
Relationship status: Divorced
Why he's doing the show: 'Going on I’m A Celebrity is a personal challenge. This time last year, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. It was a huge shock. It (cancer) has given me a second chance. Had I not had those tests, I might not be here. What is there to lose?
I have everything to gain.'
What he will miss the most: I will miss my doves, my beautiful bed, a nice hot bath and I am also going to be missing my birthday as it is whilst I am away.

KIAN EGAN

Age: 33
Date of Birth: 29 April 1980
Known for: Being a former singer in boyband Westlife
kian egan
Phobias: None but the coffin challenge is, for me, the worst one
Missing any special occasions: Thankfully no
Relationship status: Married
What he's dreading the most: 'Without a shadow of doubt, the hardest thing is going to be being away from my boy. I am not going to be able to see him or know what is going on with him. That will be tough.'
How he has prepared: 'I have started not eating as much as I want to shrink my stomach a bit. It’s a conscious decision I needed to make. I have been told that most people eat loads and loads before they go in and then they have a swollen belly. But I want to try. It’s hard to tell whether I will shrink my stomach enough but I have tried.'
What he's hoping to achieve: 'Of course it would be amazing to win it but my aim is to go in and have a good time. It’s a big adventure and I am really looking forward to the whole experience. Television is what I want to do now.'

STEVE DAVIS

Age: 56
Date of Birth: 22 August 1957
Known for: Being former Snooker World Champion six times
STEVE DAVIS
Phobias: I may appear stupid but do you really think I’d let you know what I am scared of?!
Missing any special occasions: Yes, the UK Snooker Championships
Relationship status: Long-term relationship
What he's most scared about: 'Like many viewers, I would like to know, faced with a plate of animal innards or a cockroach filled space helmet, whether I could handle it. And now as it is getting closer, I’m feeling more excited but the trepidation Richter scale is rising fast!'
What he will miss the most: 'I am going to miss not being able to contact my girlfriend, Jeannie, and my two sons, Greg and Jack, although I think they will both refuse to say they know me while the show is being aired – probably by claiming their mum had the hots for the window cleaner!  I am joking of course!'
What he's hoping to achieve: 'I am not really interested in winning. Unless it is snooker or poker…'
