Holly Valance follows the stars' favourite 'Clean and Lean' diet

The secret to Holly Valance's slim figure? Actress follows the stars' favourite 'Clean and Lean' diet (or if you believe Holly's Twitter pic, it's lettuce leaves and water)

Holly Valance has received some unjustified flak lately for her weight. But the Strictly Come Dancing star is far too smart to let a few shots from a bad camera angle get her down.
Instead, the 29-year-old has taken to Twitter to poke fun at those who have shone the spotlight on her figure.
Alongside photos of herself pulling a 'fat' pose, Holly put up a picture a single torn lettuce leaf and a bottle of water, joking that lunch had been served.
The good-natured way she has tackled the issue head-on comes as no surprise to friends, who say Holly is a 'good fun, normal and beautiful girl.'

'She's a normal, good fun girl, she's beautiful and she enjoys life,' a friend said of Holly

'She's a normal, beautiful girl, who eats normally,' they said. 'There have been some photographs recently that have caught her at really bad camera angles, when she's in the middle of eating.
'But if you saw her in person, she's beautiful. She's really petite, and she's a normal girl who just enjoys life.'

So how does the former Neighbours actress, who is planning a wedding to property developer Nick Candy next year, stay in such good shape?

Her secret is the Clean & Lean diet - a healthy eating plan that proposes an entire lifestyle overhaul, rather than short-term quick fixes or fads destined for failure.
Devised by wellness guru James Duigan, one of the world's foremost personal trainers, the diet puts the focus on good, clean food (nothing processed, no refined sugar, plenty of fresh ingredients).
It's not draconian, meaning that girls like Holly, who readily admits to 'loving her food' can follow it with ease.
There's even room for a cheat meal once a week - and yes, that can be an enormous slice of chocolate cake.
Holly has been a devotee of the Clean & Lean idea, which proposes healthy meals like lamb cutlets, quinoa, grilled figs with avocado or courgette and chicken skewers, for months.
The star also works out with James Duigan at his gym, Bodyism, where clients like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley among others have followed his programme of specially devised exercises to hone their enviable figures.
Indeed, Holly has become firm friends with Duigan, a notoriously good fun personal trainer who inspires incredible loyalty and affection in his client list, celebrity or otherwise (as one look at his Twitter account @jamesduigan, with its fun back-and-forths between him and Holly, and indeed Rosie H-W will reveal).

For his part, Duigan says Holly is a 'great friend,' and one of the 'kindest, most wonderful' people he has met.
Holly provided the foreword for Duigan's Clean & Lean Diet Cookbook, published earlier this year where she waxed lyrical about his holistic - and humorous - approach.
Holly even put on her virtual chef's hat to write some of the recipes featured in the book.

'Ask me to do something and I probably won't,' Holly wrote in the cookbook. 'Ask me not to, and I'll hop to it. It's always been that way.
'So when James and I started out on our first training session I figured I had another bloke who'd turn out to be Chief Sarge of the Fun Police and poo poo everything I've always done, and try to make me do things I've never been interested in doing to begin with.
'Guess what? I was wrong. Which I've only been once before, obviously.
'Becoming Clean & Lean is the simplest, most enjoyable lifestyle choices I've made, and the only one I've actually stuck to.
And it's been easy. Clean & Lean eating is common sense, and your body doesn't have to go through any torturous reactions - as it does with silly fads - to get results.
'You need to be healthy first and foremost. Inside and out,' she continues.
'The hardest part is actually your head. Once you decide you want to be at your optimum, whatever that may be for you, focus on that, and not on what the Barbie girl who's been retouched within and inch of her life looks like.
'We can't all be supermodels,' she says with great wisdom. 'But we can all be clean and lean. There's an opportunity through diet and exercise to create a longer, healthier life, a calmer mind and better existence for ourselves. And that is what this is really about, she says. 'Living life better.
