But Kristina Rihanoff has set the record straight, explaining in an interview on Monday's This Morning that her partner Ben Cohen told his twin daughters from his previous marriage that the couple were expecting before the Strictly dancer told the nation.
The professional dancer was keen to defend herself following criticism over how she announced the news, insisting that she couldn't have kept the secret during the reality show.

Kristina and former rugby player Ben met when they were paired up together on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013, with the couple always insisting that they got together after Ben split from his childhood sweetheart Abby.
The 38-year-old beauty announced her pregnancy to housemates in the Celebrity Big Brother house in January this year.
While it is a first child for Kristina, Ben has twin daughters Isabelle and Harriette, eight, with his ex-wife Abby.

Kristina told Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield on Monday's This Morning that it was important to her and Ben that the girls were among the first to hear their news.
Ben told the twins a couple of days before she revealed the news on CBB, Kristina explained, adding: 'It was the most important thing that they knew first.'
She insisted that while she was keen to keep the news to herself during her stint in the Big Brother house, 'it would be obvious as I would not be drinking, I couldn't starve doing the tasks or do physical tasks and I knew that people would start to question it.'

Kristina went on to reveal that the couple's new baby girl was a complete 'surprise'.
'I had a tour planned, my own show after Strictly. But clearly the universe had other things planned as it all worked out differently.'
The blonde also spoke candidly about getting her dancer's body back after giving birth, admitting: 'My body will never be the same again.'

'That’s fine because she's the most important thing in the world. I'm not one of those women who are obsessed with getting back to their pre-baby shape, if it happens it happens.'
'I still need to shift quite a few pounds but I'm breastfeeding so I can't diet.'
Kristina pointed out that training for her upcoming dance show One More Dance with fellow ex Strictly pro Gleb Savchenko should whip her into shape.
