Emmerdale's Fiona Wade opens up about new role on Dance, Dance, Dance

HELLO! exclusive: Emmerdale's Fiona Wade opens up about new role on Dance, Dance, Dance

BY GEMMA STRONG
Fiona Wade has adored ballet ever since she was a little girl, so when she was asked to take part in ITV's new show Dance, Dance, Dance, it was a dream come true. "I started dancing as a young child and have always loved it," the Emmerdale star told HELLO!. "I used to be in West End shows but I haven't danced properly for 18 years. It took a backseat when my acting and singing took over so it's been a while."
Fiona, who has appeared in Emmerdale as businesswoman Priya Kotecha since 2011, continued: "Juggling dance training with filming hasn't been easy. I knew it would be a challenge but I loved doing both. It was definitely exhausting at times but I've loved the challenge of learning to dance again."
Each week the show, hosted by Alesha Dixon and Will Best, sees celebrities recreate iconic video and dance movie sequences. "It's a celebration of dance," the 37-year-old enthused to HELLO!. "Being trained by amazing choreographers and learning famous routines performed by the world's biggest artists was such a fantastic experience."
Fiona is one of five celebrities competing in the show – Jonny Labey, JB Gill, Lucy-Jo Hudson and Jess Wright are also taking part. The opening show saw her perform Rihanna's Umbrella with her choreographer partner Ronnie V Del, as well as the aptly-titled Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing. Had she felt apprehensive about the famous lift?
"Oh my goodness this is such an amazing dance to recreate but yes the lift is not easy. It's so iconic there's no way around it. You just have to go for it," the star said.
It's pretty much her mantra for life. "I'm very ambitious, and I always think of the future. I think success is what you want it to be," she added. "The last five years have honestly been the best years ever. I feel so blessed to work in Emmerdale. It changed my life."

Emmerdale's Fiona Wade reveals almost every inch of her long legs in a VERY racy split-skirted gown at the British Soap Awards

Thigh's the limit! Emmerdale's Fiona Wade reveals almost every inch of her long legs in a VERY racy split-skirted gown at the British Soap Awards

It was one of the biggest nights in Emmerdale's 18-year history, as the programme scooped the top gong at the British Soap Awards.
So it was a good job actress Fiona Wade went all-out in her racy ensemble as she rocked up to the ceremony on Saturday evening - held at London's Hackney Town Hall Assembly Rooms - flaunting almost every inch of her pins in the process.
The stunning brunette, 37,  looked incredible as she showed off her slender legs in a daring leather bodice with a sheer skirt that was slashed to reveal her super-toned thighs.

Giving the appearance of a two-piece ensemble, the slender stunner - who plays Priya Sharma on the hit soap - made sure to flaunt her trim waistline and slight curved hips in the strapless corset-style top.
From a wide leather band around her middle fell a long sheer black skirt, completely open at the front, allowing her to show off her amazing stems.
However, she appeared to come into a spot of bother with the tricky garment as she walked up the crimson runway, holding the skirt as it caught in her heels - but she pulled it off with panache.
Best foot forward: Fiona, 37, ensured she showcased her long legs to their best advantage in her daring dress, which left very little to the imagination

Keeping the rest of her dazzling look simple, she scraped her hair back in a chic top-knot as she strutted her stuff, looking the epitome of elegance despite wearing such a risque get-up.
Fiona showed off her natural beauty going for a nude make-up palette and accentuating her stunning cheekbones with brown blush.
She accessorized with a black and white clutch bag and stood tall in black strappy sandals, and blinged up her look with plenty of jewels on her hands  -  but left her neck and decolletage bare.

Emmerdale saw off their rivals from EastEnders and Coronation Street to scoop the best gong on the night, meaning there were no doubt plenty of celebrations later in the evening for the stars.
Lucy Pargeter joined Fiona to lead the glamorous brigade of cast members as they descended upon the red carpet for the star-studded event.
The 39-year-old actress looked incredible in a sophisticated black gown with a sheer cut-out at the bust and a leather belt cinching in the waist.
Also flying the flag for Emmerdale was Eden Taylor-Draper, who upped the glamour in a strapless black dress with a gold band around the waist.
The ITV show beat off competition from last year's winner EastEnders, as well as Coronation Street, Doctors and Hollyoaks, for the public-voted prize.

There was further victory for Emmerdale's Danny Miller, who plays Aaron Livesy, as he won both best actor and best male dramatic performance.
At the ceremony at the Hackney Empire in London, Miller said: 'Soap actors and soap actresses, we're the hardest working bunch of actors in the business as far as I'm concerned, we come in at seven, we go home at seven and we do 60 pages a day. And we're paid s***e.'
EastEnders actress Lacey Turner had similar success, bagging the awards for best actress and best female dramatic performance - as well as being recognised for her character Stacey Branning's postpartum psychosis storyline.

But her cast mate Danny Dyer left empty-handed, despite three consecutive nominations for best actor.
Speaking earlier on the red carpet at Hackney Town Hall, he said: 'I don't win I'll be gutted. I'll be absolutely gutted, I ain't going to lie to ya. Everyone will say they'll be fine with it, but I will be really upset and I will sob me heart out.'
Emmerdale's cast and producers were presented with their award by Dame Joan Collins, who starred in 80s' American soap opera Dynasty.
She said : 'It is a real, real honour to be here because having worked on a few soaps myself, I really know not only how hard you work, but how truly talented you all are.
'And I also know how difficult it is to be able to turn on the waterworks at the drop of a hat, and most of you do that so brilliantly, so it's really, really impressive.'
EastEnders' actor Steve McFadden, who has played Phil Mitchell for 26 years, received an outstanding achievement award.
Appearing in a pre-recorded message, he said: 'Wow, wow. What can I say. I don't know what to say, because I don't really get awards - but I've got one now.'
After thanking his parents and the cast and crew of the BBC soap, he gave a special mention to Dame Barbara Windsor.

Dame Barbara played his on-screen mother Peggy Mitchell until earlier this month, when her character died of cancer.
McFadden said: 'Last but not least, I must mention Barbara Windsor, who has been an absolute pleasure to work with, and a wonderful, wonderful person and friend in my life.
'Thank you Barbara for everything.'
Others to win awards included Coronation Street's Connor McIntyre (Pat Phelan) and Patti Clare (Mary Taylor), Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine (Sally Webster and Tim Metcalfe) for best on-screen partnership, EastEnders' Bonnie Langford (Carmel Kazemi) and Hollyoaks' Ruby O'Donnell (Peri Lomax).
The British Soap Awards airs on Sunday May 29 at 8pm on ITV.
