Sneak peek: Peter Capaldi held at gunpoint in Doctor Who Christmas special clip featuring Matt Lucas and masked vigilante The Ghost
The clip opened with The Doctor spying on a sinister looking character twisting the giant lock on a vault door and walking off down a corridor.
The Doctor - played by Peter Capaldi - was accompanied by a young woman who told him her name was Lucy Fletcher, a reporter from the Daily Chronicle (played by Charity Wakefield).
It soon became apparent that the clip was set in America as both Lucy and The Doctor stood before a world map, titled Harmony Shoal: Science Research Associates - a corporation creating brains that can work independent of a body.
The Doctor pointed out that there are headquarters for the organisation in every capital city - only to be interrupted by a sudden appearance of Nardole (played by Matt Lucas) informing him New York isn't a capital city.
'That's not what you're here for,' scolded The Doctor.
At this point, the same man from the start of the clip turned up brandishing a gun.

In a very thick French accent, he said: 'I would call security, but they might keep you alive. I do not want any awkward questions about intruders I was forced to shoot for my own protection.'
The Doctor then spun around and told him to shoot him in the back - in a bid to stop him shooting them at all.
At this point, there was a knock at the window.
'But we're on the 100th floor,' Lucy observed.
Outside the glass panel was a floating super hero-like figure, at whom Lucy exclaimed: 'He's real. The Ghost!'

Given that he was covered in a metallic suit, The Ghost repelled the bullets and allowed him to grasp his shooter by the neck and throw him across the floor.
'Please understand it's against my personal code to cause lasting harm to any individual,' he said. 'However, light to moderate injury is fine.'
Actor Matt's appearance comes after his initial turn in a previous installment of the cult sci-fi series.
