This year's Oscar nominees pose together for class photo after gathering for annual luncheon celebrating their achievements

Say cheese! This year's Oscar nominees pose together for class photo after gathering for annual luncheon celebrating their achievements

It's one of the most eclectic groups in the world and while many are called, few are chosen.
And those few who succeeded in earning an Academy Award nomination this year came together for a class photo Monday in Beverly Hills.
It took time to assemble them all in place but once they did, the gaggle of actors, directors, producers and other movie-making professionals did mange to say 'cheese' at the same time.

Dotted among the crowd were famous faces familiar from being on screen in the most acclaimed films of 2016.
But everyone including the behind-the-scenes folk that make the magic happen and are recognized with an Oscar nod are featured in the group picture.
And with just three weeks to go before the big show, the excitement - and the nerves - is clearly ratcheting up.

The annual nominees luncheon is a rite of passage and naturally everyone tried to put their best sartorial foot forward as they gathered at the Beverly Hills Hilton.
And the group got the chance to nibble on salad and drink red wine or pink champagne in the cavernous ballroom, which was decorated with huge bouquets of white roses.
Leading actresses Natalie Portman, Emma Stone, Nicole Kidman and Michelle Williams showed just how it is done, showing up in designer duds and perfect hair.

For many this will be their first time at the gilded ceremony on February 26. But a select few will be returning in the hope of adding a second or even third Oscar to their collection.
Indeed that's the case for Natalie, a one-time winner who received her third nomination for Jackie.
The pregnant 35-year-old, named Best Actress in 2011 for Black Swan, showed off her growing bump in a belted black dress.
For Michelle Williams, 2017 marks her fourth Oscar nomination.
The 36-year-old is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Manchester By The Sea, and attended the luncheon in a asymmetrical peach and black dress.
Nicole Kidman is nominated for a Best Supporting Actress for Lion; this is the fourth Oscar nomination for the 49-year-old, who was named Best Actress in 2003 for The Hours.

The 28-year-old, who wore an off the shoulder gown, is nominated for Best Actress for her film La La Land, which looks set to be a big winner at this year's show.
The romantic showbiz musical topped the Oscars nominations list with a whopping 14 nods, tying the all-time record set by Titanic and All About Eve.
The movie - a whimsical tribute to Hollywood's Golden Age of musicals, set in modern-day Los Angeles - earned nods for best picture, best director for 32-year-old Damien Chazelle, and for Emma and her male co-star Ryan Gosling.
Emma certainly seemed happy to be at Monday's party, and gravitated for her fellow nominees and former The Help castmates Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis.
Viola is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Fences, while Octavia was nominated for Hidden Figures.

This year's crop of nominees clearly reflected a push by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voters to show more diversity after the #OscarsSoWhite controversy of the past two years.
The list features the largest number of nominations for black actors ever - six.
Mahershala Ali and Naomie Harris are first-time nominees for Moonlight, while two-time winner Denzel Washington and multiple nominee Viola Davis are in the running again for their performance in Fences.
Also nominated are past winner Octavia Spencer, a Best Supporting Actress candidate for Hidden Figures, and Ruth Negga, in the best actress category for Loving.

No him for the weekend! Chloe Grace Moretz wows in LBD at The Rose Bowl for Coldplay... but beau Brooklyn Beckham misses out

Chloe Grace Moretz wowed in a little black dress when she went to see Coldplay this weekend.
Unlucky for boyfriend Brooklyn Beckham, who appeared to miss out on what would surely have been a romantic evening.
The 19-year-old dressed up for the gig at The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, pairing her sexy LBD with a long black coat.

Suggesting she wasn't headed for the mosh-pit, the Kick Ass star finished her outfit off in a lofty pair of platform heels.
Across the city, her in-laws-elect the Beckham family were enjoying dinner in at Nobu in Malibu - again mysteriously without Brooklyn.
His dad David, mom Victoria, brothers Romeo and Cruz and sister Harper were all there, with the 17-year-old appearing to miss out on two pretty good gigs.

Back in Pasadena, celebs were packing into the stadium, including Chloe's friend Meghan Trainor.
The actress posted a little clip on Instagram taking off the singer, claiming she was 'just trying to be my fave @meghan_trainor'.
Staring at her reflection in a display of Trainor's five platinum discs for All About That Base, Moretz spins and - in her best Meghan impression - declares 'my name is Chlo', subbing her own name into Mehgan's song No.

Alicia, girlfriend of fellow actor Michael Fassbender, smiled and laughed for photographers in the cold-shoulder mini dress, which perfectly flaunted her seemingly endless pins.
The frock, designed by Proenza Schouler, featured soft, girly frills beneath the shoulders and at the mixed-length hem. The open neckline was supported by a delicate velvet halterneck, which extended into an adorning ribbon down the front.
The Swedish beauty paired the number with some simple black heeled sandals and a classic red lip, adding a touch of sex appeal to the classy ensemble with the flash of bold colour.
Her trademark brunette locks fell loosely across her exposed shoulders and her makeup was kept simple and clean, undoubtedly to show off her smooth, tanned complexion.

He confessed that the tough stunts required for Bourne had taken their toll on his 45-year-old body, even with a year of strict training and diet regime.
He said: 'Everything is tougher at 45, just getting into shape is a much more difficult proposition. I started these when I was 29, it was so much easier.'
It wasn't all standing and posing at the Madrid appearance however, as Matt got playful for the cameras.
Placing himself behind a large bullet-hole imposed in the background, the Saving Private Ryan star laughed as he pretending to be in the firing line of his own character's shot, to the entertainment of fans present.

The actor posed with the jersey he was gifted, with his name emblazoned on the back, to the delight of his Spanish fans.
Matt was also given a match ball from last season by the club's representatives which the hunk playfully tossed around, giving Spanish football its moment of glory in light of their unsuccessful participation in EURO 2016.
