Katy Perry admits that she had feelings for current boyfriend John Mayer long before they started going out

'I'm actually dating my crush': Katy Perry admits that she had feelings for current boyfriend John Mayer long before they started going out

They have been dating on and off for well over a year.
But Katy Perry has now admitted that she had strong feeling for current boyfriend John Mayer long  before the pair got together at the start of 2012.
In a new interview with W Magazine, the 28-year-old songstress, who split with husband Russell Brand at the end of 2011, says she's thrilled to be now dating her 'crush'.
He's my crush: In a new interview with W Magazine, in which Katy Perry also poses in a sexy shoot, the singer has admitted that she had a crush on current boyfriend John Mayer long before they got together
He's my crush: In a new interview with W Magazine, in which Katy Perry also poses in a sexy shoot, the singer has admitted that she had a crush on current boyfriend John Mayer long before they got together
'I had a crush on him for a long time, and it just so happens we fit together great,' she tells the magazine.
In her sit down chat with the fashion publication, the Roar star also reflects on her failed marriage to Brand.
Telling the magazine that she 'loved' being married, she chalks the split with the funnyman up to 'everything happening for a reason'.

'It was a new, fun, exciting journey. But I like how I am now, and I think all things happen for a reason,' she says.
The raven-haired beauty also discusses her new single Roar, which has so far been yet another hit for the star, topping the U.S. charts and the accompayning video clip generating over 35 million YouTube views.
This time Katy says she's proud to be singing about standing up for herself and staying strong, something she admits that she had to work on personally for a very long time.

'This song is about sticking up for yourself,' she explains to the magazine. 'People talk about bullying, but you can be your own bully in some ways.
'You can be the person who is standing in the way of your success, and that was the case for me.
'I was having a great professional streak, but personally, I was really immature, so I had to balance those things out. If you are not happy with something you should change it,' she added.
'So I went to a lot of therapy, and finally, I am able to speak up for myself: You are going to hear me roar!'
Still going strong: Katy and John have been dating on and off for well over a year
Still going strong: Katy and John have been dating on and off for well over a year
Katy was just 17-years-old when she signed her first record deal with Glen Ballard, the producer behind Alanis Morrisette's Jaggered Little Pill.
Coming to Los Angeles as a teenager, Katy says she found herself becoming somewhat of a 'self-entitled spoiled little brat' until things started to go horribly wrong.
The ex-factor: Katy split with Russell Brand at the end of 2011

'I was living in Beverly Hills, and a big famous producer had taken me under his wing.
'I was getting a monthly allowance - I had a Louis Vuitton keychain for my Jetta! I thought I was the bee's knees,' she explains.
'But it didn't last: I got dropped from my record label. And the Jetta was impounded. And I couldn't pay my bills. I suddenly heard no more often than yes.
'As cheesy as it sounds, the rejection built a lot of character in me. It takes strength to stick around in this business. And I have always been highly ambitious.'
Katy, whose parents are Pentecostal pastors, had previously sang gospel music up until the age of 15, before later moving onto hit racy songs, such as I Kissed A Girl.
Keith Hudson and Mary Perry have made it clear in the past that they don't altogether approve of their daughter's lyrics, but fully support her.
While Katy is known for often singing about raunchy subject matters and performing in suggestive clothing, she says she is still religious.
'I try and keep my connection with the G-O-D or with a power that’s bigger than me,' she says.
'It’s important—otherwise, you don’t have any kind of accountability. If you think, Hey, at the end of it all I am just going to be dust, or I have no soul or whatever, why not just be a menace to society? For me, accountability works.'
Despite their ups and downs, Katy and John currently appear to be still going strong.
The brunette bombshell split with the Born and Raised singer back in August last year, before rekindling their love in September.
John has a notorious reputation for loving and leaving some of Hollywood's most eligible ladies, including Taylor Swift, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, and Jennifer Love-Hewitt.
Katy reportedly 'believes she can change' the strummer and 'doesn't want to be just another one of his conquests'.

Paloma Faith looks super stylish in red prom-style dress and stilettos as she performs at SXSW

Retro in red: Paloma Faith looks super stylish in red prom-style dress and stilettos as she performs at SXSW

She's just as well known for her quirky style as she is for her music.
And British singer Paloma Faith made sure that she stood out from the crowd at South by Southwest festival in Texas on Saturday, wearing a bright red prom-style dress.
The 27-year-old Londoner created an edgy take on a retro 1950s style, pairing the dress with red stilettos and piling her orange hair on top of her head.

Paloma, who has just been announced as a special guest at Bruno Mars' debut show at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre next month, performed an intimate set at Peckerheads at the Austin Festival.
And the singer-songwriter made sure that all eyes were on her in her attention-grabbing ensemble as she put on a typically energetic show.
She had opted for the brightest possible colour for her performance outfit, making sure that her set was memorable for all of the festival-goers.
Kooky style: Paloma stuck to her typically quirky look, matching the prom-style dress with a huge beehive hair do

Red alert: Continuing with her stand-out red theme, the singer-songwriter added bright lipstick and huge sunglasses

The stand-out dress has sheer panelling at the top and throughout the skirt, and looked dramatic paired with her huge hairstyle.
Continuing with the red theme she wore a splash of red lipstick and added a pair of red sunglasses as she headed outside for photos after the gig.
The Picking Up The Pieces star was joined by her equally glamorous backing singers, who wore green sequinned minidresses and matching stilettos.
Strike a pose: Paloma was joined by backing singers Miss Baby Sol and Naomi Miller as they posed for pictures on the bonnet of a car

And although the performance seemed to go off without a hitch, there was obviously a technical problem as she wrote on Twitter:
'Had a great time at SXSW even though the technical stuff was constantly shambolic!thank you to everyone watching x.'
And while her star might be on the rise, it seems that not everyone is a fan of the kooky performer, as Noel Gallagher recently criticised her, saying:
'You look at the ‘best’ now. Paloma Faith? Do me a favour. Who’s f****** decided she’s a star?'

Nicole Scherzinger shows off her pert bottom in skimpy leather outfit at Comic Relief show

Don't Cha wish you had a derriere like me? Nicole Scherzinger shows off her pert bottom in skimpy leather outfit at Comic Relief show

She's got an incredible figure, so who can blame Nicole Scherzinger for taking the opportunity to show it off during the Comic Relief fundraising event on Wednesday night.
The 34-year-old singer emerged onto the stage at London's Wembley Arena in a pair of leather knickers, bra and a netted top that left little to the imagination.
Nicole showed off her pert derriere in the outfit as she performed at Russell Brand's Give It Up For Comic Relief event along with a host of familiar faces.

The singer had her hair tied back into loose cornrow plaits and wore large hoop earrings to finish off her fierce look.
She performed Right There, before launching into Don't Cha, a hit track from her Pussycat Doll days.
Nicole also sang her latest track Boomerang as well as Don't Hold Your Breath and seems that she certainly caught the eye of host Russell Brand.

After her performance the comedian joked: 'Wow, Nicole Scherzinger, that's done my sex addiction the world of f*****g good!!''
Nicole accompanied her performance with a series of tightly-choreographed dance routines, and said in a recent interview with MailOnline that her rehearsals help her stay in shape.
Asked to share her exercise tips, Nicole said: 'Just get your ass to the gym, there's no other way! I'm really excited about this new type of spinning class I have been taking called SoulCycle. I'm a runner, I like to jog and get into my music and zone out.
'My dance rehearsals really get me in shape as well, and also yoga - just anything to keep you active.'

As for her diet, Nicole said: 'I try to keep it balanced. I try not to deprive myself of anything because generally it's just going to come back around and then I'm going to eat everything. But the smart thing to do is to control it and to not eat late at night - try to stay away from processed foods.
'Last night I was craving chocolate so I had half of a Galaxy bar and I was cool with not having the other half, and that's ok - everything in moderation...'
Rizzle Kicks, Paloma Faith, Kasabian, Noel Gallagher and Emeli Sandé were among the other musical guests at the charity event.
Emeli showed off her recent weight loss in a fitted pencil skirt and grey T-shirt as she opened her set with Heaven, before taking the tempo down a notch with a vocally stunning performance of Clown.
The Scottish singer finished her set with a performance of her hit track Next To Me.

Paloma Faith also entertained the crowds with her unique sound, showing off her slim figure in a pale pink latex skirt and floral corseted top as she belted out her hits including Picking Up The Pieces.
Jake Bugg was another popular act at the event, singing his hits Lightning Bolt and Seen It All, while Rizzle Kicks entertained the crowds with their boundless energy and performances of When I Was A Youngster, Mama Do The Hump and Get Down With The Trumpets.
Noel Gallagher closed the show with his band High Flying Birds, but complained to host Russell that his name had been misspelled in the programme for the show.
But Noel put any aggravation over the missing 'h' from his surname behind him for a stunning set, singing What A Life and If I Had A Gun.
Much to the delight of the excited crowd, Noel ended the fundraising event with a rendition of Oasis' Don't Look Back In Anger.
Meanwhile, host Russell Brand certainly didn't shy away from controversial topics as he hosted the show and made reference to the now infamous 'Sachsgate' as well as the recent Jimmy Saville scandal.

Asking one woman to text to give money to Comic Relief, Russell said: 'Bear in mind that we're on the BBC and I'm playing with someone's phone so that's dangerous.'
    'Now what's your grandfather's number?'
He paused before adding: 'And probably on the BBC this will be edited to take out the grandfather reference... a wise editorial decision.'
Brand and Jonathan Ross caused controversy in 2008 when they prank-called former Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs and left messages claiming that the comedian had slept with the actor's daughter.
Hair today, gone... soon: Jessi J took to the stage at Give It Up For Comic Relief at Wembley in a sheer lack crop top and a PVC skirt. The singer joked that she was making the most of her hair before she shaves her head

But Brand wasn't the only controversial comedian of the evening, as Frankie Boyle found himself booed by the audience when he launched his crude and revolting jokes onto the crowd.
He said: 'I wish the Queen had died the night before the Royal Jubilee - I wish she'd f*****g died. They wouldn't have been able to tell us. They would have to hollow out her body and get the guy who plays Gollum to wear it.'
After making a crude joke about the Duchess of Cambridge's figure, Frankie then added: 'I can't believe she is pregnant to be honest because she told me she was on the pill.'
Making a quip about the Jimmy Savile scandal he said: I think the BBC made Jimmy Savile wear that jewellery so children could hear him coming.'

Turning his attention to religion he joked: 'The Pope must have done something that even the catholic church found unacceptable. My theory is that he is f****g an adult woman.'
Brand organised the concert to try and battle drug and alcohol addiction, something he has personal experience with.
He also remembered the late Amy Winehouse, whose tragic death inspired him to organise the event.
He said: 'When Amy Winehouse died I had a realisation of sadness and futility of her death but also that addiction is an illness that can be helped.'

'I did drugs because I was a little sad and lonely inside and I think that's what happened with Amy and I think that's why we lost her.
'If we regard alcoholism and addiction as a health issue and not a criminal issue then we can help more people.'
'Amy Winehouse was a catalyst but her death won't be in vain because we can help others.'
Jack Whitehall, Jimmy Carr and Jason Manford also took to the stage to try and raise a few laughs during the evening.

She may not have been on home turf, but Taylor Swift certainly made sure to pull out all the stops as she attended the 2012 ARIA Awards in Sydney, Australia, on Thursday night.
The 22-year-old singer showed off her fashion credentials in an impeccably elegant, Grecian-inspired flowing cream gown.
Featuring lace panel cutaway detail at the sides, a bustier top and a draped skirt, the chic garment ensured the We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together stole the show as she hit the red carpet at the Sydney Entertainment Centre for the Australian equivalent to the Grammys.

Taylor teamed the sophisticated gown with a retro-style, twisted hairstyle, while offsetting the dress's cream colour with a slick of bold red lipstick and dramatic blue eye make-up as she settled into her new metropolitan surroundings.
The star - who is rumoured to be dating One Direction singer Harry Styles - seemed to be in her element as she arrived at the prestigious awards bash, stopping for pictures and to sign autographs for her Australian fans.
She wrote on her Twitter page: 'Woah. The fans at the ARIAs came out in full force!! This is INSANE!'

However, Taylor's purpose in attending the ARIA Awards wasn't merely to decorate the red carpet, with the singer performing her new track, Here Comes Trouble, in the ceremony.
Prior to taking to the stage, she tweeted: 'So excited about performing on the ARIA's tonight! Never been before. Here's comes 'trouble'.... See what I did there? Sorry. I know. Sorry.'
