But the graduate of the London College of Fashion also has an unusual day job – working in her mother’s needlework shop, Tapisserie, which specialises in tapestry slippers and cushions.
Petra, whose father played polo with Prince Charles and became a close friend of Princess Diana, discovered her passion for embroidering as a child and developed her design skills under her mother’s watchful eye.
She says: ‘I am hoping to inspire people of all generations to hand-embroider creative designs. My aim is to make needlework cool.’
Lord Palumbo became embroiled in the bitter legal fight with the children from his first marriage over the financial management of the family trust fund.

Aliki Chrysochou “Music brought me back to life”

Изображение:
Having trained as classical soprano, Aliki Chrysochou’s career took a surprising turn when she entered Britain’s Got Talent, reaching the semi-finals with her impressive rendition of the song “Bring Me to Life”. Watching her poised and perfect performance, it is difficult to believe that this confident singer, who radiates her own special energy, has experienced a potentially devastating illness. Her road to success has been a difficult path; but Aliki Chrysochou is someone who never gave up on her dreams…
As a child, you were described as a musical prodigy, working with renowned Cypriot composers, poets and musicians; did you always believe that you would become a classical soloist and soprano?
Growing up I was a big part of the Diastasis group. We travelled and we sang with Nana Mouskouri, Dalaras, Mario Frangoulis and Deborah Myers. I wouldn’t exactly call myself a child prodigy; it was mostly a title that was given to me whist I was growing up by my teachers and people around me in the music field. Perhaps it was because people saw how entranced and enthused I was, whenever I was involved with music. I grew up in a family in which the arts had a significant role and so it was not unusual for me to want to dedicate my life to music, especially singing.

When you were diagnosed with focal encephalitis, a disease which can cause permanent brain damage, you must have felt that your dreams of a singing career were over?
During my worst moments, all I could think about was how to keep myself alive and remain alive, in order to continue living and to be able to complete all of the dreams that I had. The worst thing was that I was completely aware in my own head of what was happening. I was trapped inside my own body and not being able to do anything. My mum used to feed me and bathe me, and I was in a wheelchair. In a matter of two weeks, I was in the neurological hospital in London. I recovered in about a year and a half, when I returned to university under medical supervision.
Even in the darkest of times, you credit music as being a lifeline and the inspiration for your recovery?
During my recovery singing was the only thing I was able to do. My mum would write down lyrics for me, to be able to study them, because I wasn’t able to write them down. After completing my piano recital during my freshman year at University, I was devastated that now I could not even play one note. It took me about a year to go back and touch the piano, and when I did it was as if not a day had gone by. All the notes were there! It was exactly as if somebody had switched you off and then switched you on again! Music is what brought me back to life.

As well as many stunning, classical performances, you recently became a semi-finalist in Britain’s Got Talent; with acts as diverse as ventriloquists and dancing dogs, did you find the talent competition, a strange experience after your formal musical training?
Britain’s Got Talent was an amazing experience, the talent and the challenges were at a very high standard, and I have met some fantastic people in front and behind the scenes, although it felt quite strange being up against some different acts which did not really have anything to do with music or singing, but none the less, I treated the competition seriously and I did my best.
On the show, you received a standing ovation for your performance of “Bring Me to Life” by Evanescence. This song is obviously important to you?
It is very poignant for me, and every word describes perfectly how I was, back then when I was diagnosed with encephalitis. Singing at the London Palladium was such a dream come true; being on that stage, where so many amazing artists and performers have been. As soon as I stood in the middle of the stage, I just soaked in so much energy, which was given to me from the whole room, that I think I was the happiest person on earth, when I was there.
You looked very poised and confident on stage?
When I am on stage I feel most at home. I am nervous before I walk on, but once I am on, stood in the middle, I think I find my Zen and I feel a lot of positive energy coming from the audience. When the music starts I am at peace and ready to sing.

Simon Cowell compared you to the very talented Katherine Jenkins; does she inspire you in any way?
She is an absolutely amazing artist and mezzo soprano, and growing up I admired her music, and I was influenced by this kind of music. Maria Callas, Sarah Brightman, Andrea Bocelli, Nana Mouskouri, Julie Andrews, are the people I grew up listening to, and we are all influenced by so many things around us, to create our own being, our own music.
Has your life changed in any way since appearing on Britain’s Got Talent?
It was great stepping stone for me, which gave me a huge platform for more exposure, which has really helped to broaden my music worldwide. After Britain’s Got Talent, I was given the honour to have been made an ambassador of the world Encephalitis Society, which gives me a perfect opportunity to raise awareness and give help to the families and individuals who are going through this terrible brain disease.

What about your recent and future projects?
I have recently sung for the British troops with the EPI Military Wives Choir.  I was invited to sing at the opening ceremony of the world youth sailing championship competition, and I have been invited to sing in Melbourne, in November for a gala. I am currently working on many different projects. There are a lot of offers and big opportunities! Classical singing is what I love the most; it is such a big and powerful expertise. It is the foundation to everything, but I am open to experiment with different kinds of genres of music as well, sometime in the future.
As someone who has persevered through very difficult times to achieve success; what does Status mean to you?
Status for me is something that relates directly to a sense of self happiness. It is the road that takes me on a life-long journey and every little thing I have come across, my accumulated experiences, in this beautiful journey called life. This year is the first time I have actually spoken about encephalitis; but before, when everything happened, my family and I, we were just focused on getting over it and moving on.  It’s in the past now, but what I went through has made me be the person I am today.

Nicole Scherzinger continues to try and heal her broken heart with a luxurious getaway to Venice with pals

'Take my breath away': Nicole Scherzinger continues to try and heal her broken heart with a luxurious getaway to Venice with pals

Nicole Scherzinger is undoubtedly still hurting after calling off her seven-year relationship with Lewis Hamilton in February.
So it's little wonder why she decided to jet off to Venice on Friday for a much needed getaway with a few close pals.
Clearly having a blast on her mini escape while soaking up the sights of the historic Italian city, the 36-year-old has been regularly posting pictures of her holiday on Instagram.

In one snap, the US star can be seen posing on a speedboat with a face full of makeup with San Giorgio Church in the background.
Underneath the picture, she wrote: '#Venetian #sunset #SanGiorgioChurch #Venice #takemybreathaway.'
Minutes later, the star posted another image of herself posing seductively while cruising around the city's famous canals.

She captioned the picture 'Io am #Venezia', which of course is Italian for 'I love Venice'.
However, despite the former Pussycat Doll's declaration for the city, her choice of destination was a poignant one, as it's the place she celebrated her sixth anniversary with Lewis last year.
The two then-lovebirds were seen on a romantic gondola ride around the city's famous waterways, taking in the sights of their beautiful surroundings.
So it must be with a slightly heavy heart that she is back there once again, less than a year after celebrating their special time together.

Nicole parted ways with the 30-year-old last month due to the pressures of a long-distance relationship, and is said to be 'heartbroken and devastated' at seeing their seven-year on-off romance come to an end.
A source close to the star told MailOnline: 'It was a mutual decision. The long distance kept them apart for long periods of time.'
But another source hasn't ruled out a reconciliation between the two.
'It's been seven years now, and it's always the same reason that splits them up,' the second source said. 'Love always brings them back together.'

“Wonderful music that combines classic soul influences with a distinctly modern production approach…” The Sunday Times
“As heart-warmingly catchy as anything from Stevie Wonder’s purple patch” Uncut
After 3 years of touring worldwide and releasing albums ROUTES TO RICHES & THE LIFE & SOUL, Mamas gun present their third studio album ‘Cheap Hotel’ on global release. This release sees the band back with the ‘dream team’ who produced their debut (Routes to Riches) – Julian Simmons (Ed Sheeran, Guillemots) and founder member Andy Platts. The album is a huge sonic step forward; at the same time arguably more experimental than previous work, yet full of timeless song writing, it is laced with a mixture of modern and retro sounds, pure pop sensibilities and the kind of musical clarity only heard in a band who have truly cemented their bonds.
The first single from the album ‘Red Cassette’ achieved A list status on BBC radio 2 and achieved top 15 airplay chart positions both home and abroad. The band were also invited onto Chris Evans breakfast show to perform to his 9.7 million strong listenership. The track has been described as a nostalgic summery tune, echoing the synth pop sounds of Prince and Daft Punk. “It’s a song about nostalgia, life choices and tracing the roots back to when I first started making music  – when I was around 8 or 9 years old,” says lead singer Andy Platts, “staying up late and recording fake radio shows and making up songs which I recorded onto cassette…I also  like the idea of uplifting songs which revolve around one simple chord sequence.”
‘Cheap Hotel’ contains a range of moods from the mellow Bob Marley influenced track ‘Midas Touch’ through to the lifting melodic sounds of ‘Hello Goodnight’, a nod to Electric Light Orchestra. “For me ELO combined fantastic Beatlesesque song writing with a bit of the flavour of American soul / R & B and the bombast of Queen,” says Andy, “three musical ingredients I personally really identify with.”
Mamas Gun are a five-piece band, fronted by the charismatic and striking singer/composer/producer Andy Platts, who blend Motown, soul, funk and rock influences to stunning effect. Having released two critically acclaimed albums, toured with the likes of De La Soul, Raphael Saadiq, and Beverley Knight and played to tens of thousands of fans worldwide, their third offering, ‘Cheap Hotel’ is a landmark release that will surely take Mamas Gun to a whole new level. As Andy puts it:
“I think this is our coming of age record. There was a consensus this time round to take our time, to try to examine every riff, every melody scrap, every chord change and indeed every song that any member may have to put on the table. It was a very democratic process”
Mamas Gun’s debut album ‘Routes To Riches’ picked up support from the likes of Sunday Times Culture, The Guardian and Billboard as well as BBC Radio 2, amongst others. It was the band’s unexpected impact in Japan that really made the world sit up and take note: Mamas Gun were heralded as the most played international act in the country that year (beating Madonna to the No. 1 airplay slot), also achieving the No.3 sales slot on the Japanese Billboard charts
The second album ‘The Life & Soul’, produced by Grammy Award winning production team Martin Terefe and Andreas (noted for success with artists such as Jason Mraz, Train, James Morrison, Jamie Cullum, and KT Tunstall) categorically cemented the band’s reach and reputation both in the UK and internationally.
During the period between ‘The Life & Soul’ and the recording of the new album the guys concluded the long search for the bands new bass player, spent months as a group writing the new material, and toured the world including headline slots and sold out shows around the world from Java Jazz in Indonesia (alongside Stevie Wonder) to 14 date runs throughout Germany and Europe.
Most recently Mamas Gun have been approached by some major sync placement companies based in North America who have picked up on the bands’ music through the internet grapevine (having seen it used by several influential Vloggers) and will be working with them on placing their music to the wider Film/TV world from 2015.
Their return to the Jazz café on March 1st sees them perform the second leg of the CHEAP HOTEL tour and kicks off the bands touring activities for 2015!

Daily Mirror - Ariana Grande thinks she's Buffy the Vampire Slayer plus Buffy's reaction to the disturbing news in gifs

The teeny tiny singer said she can tell if a demon is near and talks about how she fearlessly flew over a Hellmouth. As you do.

Ariana's not a fan of angels either, apparently
Ariana Grande is a woman of many talents and it appears demon hunting is one of them.
There's not really any other way of putting it, but the pint-sized pop princess says that she can smell demons and a whole host of other weird stuff that would put Buffy the Vampire Slayer to shame.
In an interview from 2013, little Ari makes some - er - bold claims about her relationship with the supernatural.
"We were in Kansas City a few weeks ago and went to this haunted castle and we were so excited," she told Complex magazine.

"The next night we wanted to go to Stull Cementary, which is known as one of the seven gates to hell on Earth."
Is it really Ariana? We must have missed that in the brochures.
"The Pope won't fly over it," she continues.
Uh huh. On his many trips to Texas, we guess.
"I felt this sick, overwhelming feeling of negativity over the whole car and we smelled sulphur, which is the sign of a demon, and there was a fly in the car randomly, which is another sign of a demon."
Cyrus
Has anyone alerted the authorities? This is serious.
But don't worry - while Buffy would grab her weapons and kick some serious demon behind, Ariana is a much more of a lover than a fighter.
"I rolled down the window before we left and said, 'We apologise. We didn't mean to disrupt your peace.'"
Unlike previous demon hunters, Ariana was smart enough to take a picture of the demons.
"Then I took a picture and there are three super distinct faces in the picture - they're faces of textbook demons."
Textbook. Demons.
Cyrus
Unfortunately Ariana deleted the photographic proof of the "textbook demons" but that's when the situation gets even weirder.
"I deleted it. The next day I tried to send the picture to my manager and it said, 'This file can't be sent, it's 666 megabytes.'
"I'm not kidding. I used to have a folder called 'Demons' that had pictures with all the screencaps in it, but then weird things started happening to me so I deleted it."
Ariana then went on to describe an incident she had in bed where she heard "whispers", saw  "really disturbing images" due to some "massive black matter" in her room.

"It was like a cloud of something black right next to me. I started crying. I was on the phone like, 'What do I do, what do I do?' and they said, 'Tell it to eff off'."
Naturally Justin Bieber's selfie-friend refused.
"I'm not going to do that. It's going to upset it, so I'm just going to chill and not feed into it because all it wants is fear. It feeds on fear. I watched it move to the front of my bed and then I fell asleep on the phone. I woke up and it was gone."
Buffy would not approve.
