'He's like a big brother': Fifth Harmony's Normani Kordei 'friend zones' her Dancing With The Stars partner Val Chmerkovskiy after topping the scoreboard with Foxtrot choreography
She's paired with hunky ballroom dancer Val Chmerkovskiy for this year's Dancing With The Stars competition in the US.
But while previous contestants of the franchise have ended up dating their partners, Normani Kordei insists the relationship between her and the 31-year-old is purely platonic.
'He's like a big brother,' the 20-year-old Fifth Harmony star told The Kyle & Jackie 'O' Show on Thursday.

When host Kyle Sandilands posed the rather crass question of whether they would eventually 'root,' Normani claimed: 'No. He's like the homie. He really is.'
Jackie 'O' Henderson quickly interjected and observed that the Ukraine-born dancer had been 'friend zoned'.
Normani's comments come just days after the duo performed a Foxtrot on Las Vegas night during the third week of the season.

They earned the highest score of the night with a total of 34 out of 40.
Meanwhile, Normani has also been busy travelling the world on tour with her band.
Australia's own Bindi Irwin won last year's competition, taking out the top honour with her partner Derek Hough.
Normani found international fame with Fifth Harmony after appearing on X Factor.

The group originally had five members, however, Camila Cabello left to embark on a solo career in December.
'After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony,' a statement from the group read.
'We wish her well.'
