Ariana Grande reveals she was almost crushed under the stage on tour as she makes appearance on Chatty Man

'I almost died!': Ariana Grande reveals she had an 'Indiana Jones moment' when she was almost crushed under the stage on tour as she makes appearance on Chatty Man

She's known of her high-tempo stage personality and energetic performances.
But Ariana Grande has revealed her act has landed her in serious jeopardy before, as the singer revealed she 'almost died' making an entrance at one of her gigs.
Speaking to Alan Carr on the latest installment of his Chatty Man show, the pop star, 22, explains how she nearly found herself crushed on a rising platform beneath the stage in a.

Appearing on the show alongside actor Will Arnett and comedian Jimmy Carr, the group were asked about stage mishaps - and Ariana certainly had one to remember.
Speaking about the incident on her Honeymoon tour, Ariana explains that the incident happened when she was using a rising platform to make an entrance, but on the opening night in February 2015 something went drastically wrong.
'Opening night of my Honeymoon tour I almost died,' she explained. 'For real, I'm not exaggerating. I usually exaggerate but I'm not.'
Painting quite the picture the former child star went on explaining she was going to appear thanks to 'one of those toaster things' which pop a person up and onto the stage.

However just as she was starting to sing the opening seconds of her hit Love Me Harder, something unexpected happened when the wooden plank she was on was sent flying upwards by a rope snapping.
She said: 'The thing was still going up so I was being pushed against the stage, and it was some Indiana Jones s*** and it was really scary.
'I had to superman myself out of the thing, and my guitar guy helped me get out and then I went on stage a different way. It was really scary.'

Clearly slightly shocked by the near-death experience Ariana had just rattled off so nonchalantly, a shocked Alan exclaims: 'But you nearly died!'
However Jimmy appears to be enthralled with the tale, chipping in: 'It sounds like you were in the trash compacter in Star Wars.'
To which an excited Ariana exclaims: 'Yes, yes! I was Carrie Fisher in the trash compactor.'
'Yes, yes! I was Carrie Fisher in the trash compactor' Talking to Alan and fellow guest Jimmy Carr she likened the experience of being crushed beneath the stage to the infamous scene from Star Wars: A New Hope

The singer's appearance on the Channel 4 chat show comes hot on the heels of her latest single Dangerous Woman, which sees the singer embrace a racier side of her personality.
In an interview on Radio 1 earlier in the week she delved into the inspiration for the unusual video, which sees her don a racy latex bunny outfit, she said the song make the singer feel like a 'black latex super-bunny woman'.
Speaking to host Nick Grimshaw, she said: 'We are doing something weird. We are doing two visuals because this song makes me feel two kinds of ways.
'It makes me feel sexy and glamourous and I wanted to do a simpler more glam-themed video. And then I wanted to do another video because it makes me feel also kind of like a super version of myself.'
'It makes me feel like inside me is a black latex super-bunny woman,' she went on to reveal. 'So there is a simple approach and a weirder more cinematic conceptual bizarre video.'
The rest of Ariana's interview can be caught on Alan Carr: Chatty Man, which airs on Thursday March 31 on Channel 4 at 10pm.

Abbey Clancy dresses up as Miley Cyrus in that infamous outfit for Alan Carr's TV special

Abbey New Year! Abbey Clancy dresses up as Miley Cyrus in THAT infamous outfit for Alan Carr's TV special

|
It is perhaps the most infamous outfit worn by a woman in 2013.
So it's little surprise that Miley Cyrus' notorious VMA outfit has been immortalised by a comedy sketch thanks to Alan Carr's forthcoming New Year special on Channel 4.
Strictly Come Dancing winner Abbey Clancy wears a full-length 'Miley-suit' as part of Tuesday's episode, which recaps cultural highlights from the past year.

The episode's stunt is part of a game called The Great British Twerk Off, which sees Alan dress as Robin Thicke in the Blurred Lines video.
Alongside Abbey, his guests - including Keith Lemon and Ben Cohen - are then split into rival teams of two people, each dressing as either Robin or Miley.
Each 'Robin' is stood behind an oversized cut-out of Robin Thicke’s crotch, which features a photo of a celebrity whose face is masked by ice cream. Each 'Miley' must remove the ice cream by twerking it off. The first team to correctly guess the celeb’s face wins.
Appropriately, they were joined by the UK’s first-ever twerking solo champion, Mizz Versatile, who comes on to the stage to give a twerking demonstration - not that Abbey needs any practice, of course.

The comedy quiz comes just days after she was crowned the winner of this year's Strictly Come Dancing, beating Natalie Gumede, Susanna Reid and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
More than six million people watched her win the Glitterball trophy after weeks of arduous training and liver performances.
But Miley's notorious VMA dance was less successful - instead sparking global castigation.
Not only did she wear a skin-tight, nude bra set, but she also danced provocatively against Robin Thicke and used a foam finger as a phallic object.

The incident, which was watched by a global audience of more than 100 million, has since become a cultural reference point of 2013.
More recently, in an interview with the Today Show, Miley revealed that she'll continue her 'sexual' performances to at least 40 years of age.
'Probably around 40, I heard that's when people don't have sex any more. So I guess maybe around then,' the star said.

Tess Daly appears on Alan Carr in sexy leather-look minidress with Strictly gang

That's better! Tess Daly puts yellow fashion disaster behind her as she appears on Alan Carr in sexy leather-look minidress

|
She sent the Twittersphere into a frenzy on Friday for all the wrong reasons when she wore a very bright and tight yellow dress on Strictly Come Dancing.
But it seems Tess Daly’s frock horror was just a one off as she put the comments behind her to make a spectacular appearance on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man, which is due to air this Friday.
The 44-year-old stepped out looking confident and sexy wearing a short black leather-look mini dress, which featured a peplum detail around the waist.

The tight number fell to the middle of her thighs showing off her very long and slim legs – which were elongated with a pair of nude heels.
Her blonde hair was tied off her face in a sleek ponytail  with a slight quiff to it and she completed her stunning TV look with plenty of smoky eye make-up.
The mother-of-two may have opted to wear a slight frill around her waist after raising speculation that she was pregnant during her Strictly appearance over the weekend.

Many felt her outfit was far too tight for her slender frame and it wasn’t helped that it became transparent under the glare of the lights, treating those at home to the unflattering sight of her shapewear, which had creased underneath and displayed what appeared to be rolls of flab around her middle.
Viewers tweeted complaints including ‘Tess Daly, fat or pregnant? #girdle’, ‘Can someone please tell Tess Daly that the yellow hair,  yellow face, yellow dress look on HD is iris destroying’ and ‘Is Tess daly pregnant? #SCD if not sack the stylist!’.
A spokesman for Miss Daly however did not hesitate to say that she is not pregnant and nor has she had cosmetic surgery on her face.
Let's talk: Ben Cohen and Julian McDonald also appear on the show which airs on Friday

The pretty blonde was joined on the show by a number of contestants from this series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Abbey Clancy wore an equally as flattering dress showing off her very slim figure in a chic black dress with a cut-out section around the centre.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor also looked simply stunning in a tight red leather look dress which fell to her knees.

Olivia Colman is finally the leading lady as she picks up two trophies at TV Baftas + Winners list

Just call it the Olivia Awards! Ms Colman is finally the leading lady as she picks up two trophies at TV Baftas

    • Made In Chelsea is surprise winner in Reality And Constructed Factual category
    • Olympics coverage snubbed as it fails to pick up a single award
    • Game Of Thrones beats Olympic Opening Ceremony and Strictly in Audience Award
    |

Her face may have been familiar. But before the runaway success of Broadchurch, you may not have known her name.
Last night, however, Olivia Colman changed all that when she picked up two awards at the Baftas – days after she revealed she thought she’d miss out on roles because she wasn’t ‘the archetypal looker’.
Indeed, the normally mild-mannered actress was so shocked at her win that she turned the air blue muttering ‘f***’ before quickly apologising.
Scroll down for video and full list of winners...

Miss Colman, 39, won the award for best supporting actress for her performance in BBC1’s Accused (Mo’s Story) and for best female in a comedy for her part in BBC2 Olympics satire Twenty Twelve.
The star, who has two sons, topped off a successful year when she appeared alongside David Tennant in ITV1’s crime thriller Broadchurch, She has also starred as Margaret Thatcher’s daughter Carol in The Iron Lady.
But last night she was honoured for her portrayal of Sue Brown, the mother of the victim of a gangland killing in The Accused.
What a handful: The actress seemed choked as she was invited back on stage for the second time on Sunday evening

The actress, who looked glamorous in a purple dress, said: ‘I can’t believe it. I keep thinking it’s wrong. I feel very wobbly. I thought I might be in with a chance for Accused, because it is such a beautiful script. But Twenty Twelve, I didn’t think, because I was against such wonderful talents.’
She added: ‘Hollywood hasn’t called, unless they have got a digit wrong. Of course I would go if they asked. It’s warm and they pay better. I wouldn’t like to live there as I’ve got a family, but who wouldn’t go for a couple of years.’
In an interview last month she said: ‘I’m never cast as the love interest. I’m just not seen as that girl.  I’m just not the archetypal looker. You see a row of girls and go, “There’s the classic beauty”. And that was never me.  I never really minded and I’m grateful now because I think it’s so much harder for beautiful actresses to last in the business.’

And her shock was apparent each time she was welcomed back on stage by host Graham Norton
After the second trophy for her role in Accused, Olivia told the crowd while looking clearly delighted: 'Thank you to my agents... I love you and I'm never, ever leaving! Also to Mr Hands, my first drama teacher, thank you very much. To my husband and best friend.'
She then quipped jokingly: 'And my children, if you're watching it looked like I said a bad word, I didn't... oh and my parents for babysittting, thank you very much.'
But her shock was even more visible as her name was read out for the third time for her role in Twenty Twelve.

The 39-year-old actress told BANG Showbiz at the winner's press conference: 'I'm a bit wobbly. I just can't believe I've won. I keep thinking it's wrong and they've made a mistake.
'I thought I might be in with a chance for the drama award because Accused is such a beautiful script. But the comedy award I didn't think I would stand a chance against those girls.'
First-time nominee Sheridan Smith beat off stiff competition from Sienna Miller, Rebecca Hall and Anne Reid to win the prestigious Leading Actress BAFTA for her portrayal of the titular character in Mrs Biggs.

'I was so convinced there was no chance I would win. But when they said my name it was like an out of body experience. It was surreal.'
Ben Whishaw received the Leading Actor award for his performance as Richard II in the four part series The Hollow Crown, while Simon Russell Beale was named Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Falstaff in Henry IV Part 2.
