Louis Walsh loses TWO acts as Blonde Electra and Overload Generation are sent home on The X Factor's first elimination night

Double blow: Louis Walsh loses TWO acts as Blonde Electra and Overload Generation are sent home on The X Factor's first elimination night

It appears that Louis Walsh's dream of finally having a winning act on The X Factor may be slipping through his fingers once again.
The Irishman saw two of his acts - Blonde Electra and Overload Generation - leave the ITV show, after a tough first elimination night on Sunday.
Sister act Blonde Electra were the first act to learn that they were departing the show, as it was announced by host Dermot O'Leary that they'd received the least votes.

Looking disappointed, Jazzy and Ruby hugged the members of Overload Generation before heading centre-stage to speak with Dermot, who repeatedly told them he was 'so sorry' about their elimination.
'It's OK. We're still going to keep doing it,' said the sisters. 'We're going to keep trying... We just wanna thank everybody for giving us this opportunity. We've had the bext time ever.'
As they exited the stage, it was left for Overload Generation and Stephanie Nala to battle it out in a sing-off.

Overload Generation went first, performing Christina Perri's A Thousand Years, followed by Cheryl Fernandez-Versini's performer Stephanie Nala, who nervously sang her way through Brandy's Have You Ever?.
After their performances, Simon Cowell said: 'Neither of you had a good night last night. Boys.. that performance was shockingly bad.
'Stephanie you were good at the beginning and then kind of went off-key at the end. I cannot support an act i have no belief in at all, so I'm going to send Home Overload.'

With Cheryl opting to send Overload home, and Mel B opting to boot out Stephanie, it was down to Louis to make the deciding vote, predictably choosing to save his act.
His decision sent the competition into deadlock, which meant that the public vote came into play after the judges failed to reach a majority verdict.
As the group made their exit, they told the cheering audience: 'Obviously, we're gutted. But we just want to say thank you so much for all the support.'
Added a visibly upset Louis: 'I want them to stay together and become a big band.'

'They said "thank you" and then one member quickly said "oh but we were kicked out at bootcamp".'
Meanwhile, Simon Cowell has reportedly given his acts Jay James, Fleur East and 29-year-old Ben a stern warning about what he expects when it comes to live shows.

X Factor fights back in the Strictly Come Dancing ratings battle as 8.81 million tune in to see nail-biting Judges' Houses episode

X Factor fights back in the Strictly Come Dancing ratings battle as 8.81 million tune in to see nail-biting Judges' Houses episode

It's the nail-biting moment during which The X Factor wannabes found out who made it through to the live finals.
And the mounting tension and heart-stopping scenes helped the show fight back against Strictly Come Dancing to put the rivals on almost level pegging on Sunday night.
So far this year, BBC1's Strictly has been way ahead of the ITV singing contest when they have been screened on the same night.
They've got The X Factor: 8.81 million viewers tuned in to see Cheryl Fernandez-Versini put through Chloe-Jasmine Whichello, Lauren Platt and Stephanie Nala to the X Factor live finals

But X Factor fought back on Sunday as the final 12 who go through to the live stages were revealed as the Judges' Houses section of the show drew to a close.Strictly was ahead by the narrowest of margins with 8.84 million, while ITV's programme drew 8.81 million, which included viewers of its catch-up +1 channel.
The X Factor was up 400,000 on the 8.4 million who tuned in for the equivalent episode last year and Strictly was also up for its first results show by 600,000 on 2013, when it was actually slightly behind in the ratings battle.

On Saturday night, Strictly - which saw MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace become the first to leave the show - had a commanding lead with an average audience of 8.8 million, to X Factor's 7.2 million.
During this weekend's X Factor, viewers saw sister duo Blonde Electric mysteriously change their name to Blonde Electra as they made it through to the final 12.
Along with quartet Only The Young and a yet-to-be-named eight-piece boy band, they will be mentored by Louis Walsh.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini chose to take through Lauren Platt, Chloe Jasmine and Stephanie Nala - who previously appeared with The Luminites in Britain's Got Talent - for her girls category.
Andrea Faustini, Paul Akister and Jake Quickenden represent the boys category, after being chosen by Melanie Brown, while Simon Cowell is in charge of Ben Haenow, Fleur East and Jay James in the Overs category.
Bookmaker William Hill has installed Italian Faustini as favourite to triumph in the contest at 2/1, with the unnamed boy band next at 5/1.
Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams said: 'Andrea is the stand-out act so far and will be very hard to beat.'

X Factor's Chloe-Jasmine, Stephanie Nala and others start rehearsing

Already thinks she's a diva! X Factor's Chloe-Jasmine dons oversized sunglasses despite cloudy weather... as Little Mix's Jesy Nelson gives advice to contestants

She is one of the most talked about contestants in this year’s series of The X Factor.
And it seems the fame may already be going to Chloe-Jasmine Whichello’s head as she put on a diva style display on Monday morning.
The 23-year-old looked like she loved the limelight as she joined her fellow contestants for their first studio rehearsals in London.

Braving the chilly temperatures in a metallic dress, the singer covered up in a tweed jacket and flashed her smile for the cameras which she sat in the waiting car.
The contestants were sure to be feeling first day nerves and so it must have been great comfort to see Jesy Nelson arrive with some words of advice for the group.
The Little Mix star – who won the show in 2011 with her group – was on hand to talk the hopefuls through the process and share her tips for coping with the pressures of the live shows.
Burn hitmaker Ellie Goulding was also seen making her way over to the studio to talk to the contestants.

While most contestants jumped for joy at hearing they’d made it through to The X Factor live shows over the weekend, posh Chloe Jasmine seemed to have a bone to pick with Cheryl Versini-Fernandez over picking her.
'Oh my gosh... Why?' the confused 24-year-old asked after finding out she was one of the star’s final three.
An even more confused Cheryl then replied: 'Because you're wonderful!'
