The pressure to pull out a stylish look during Fashion Week can leave some celebrities crumbling under the pressure.

But Gemma Arterton proved she is head and shoulders above the rest and wore a sophisticated asymmetrical black dress for a party in Paris.

Gemma, 27, wore the figure-hugging outfit to attend a bash at the Trianon Theatre, hosted by beauty brand Lancome.

The star's outfit boasted an oversized ruffle on her left shoulder and a long sleeve down her left arm.

She left her dress do the talking and pulled her hair up into a sleek up do.

Alex Babsky, UK Make Up Ambassador for Lancome did Gemma's make up using Lancome Hypnose Palette in shade ST2 in for the khaki smokey eye and Lancome Hypnose Show Doll Eyes mascara, from the new Alber collection.

She added a chunky cuff with a large jewel and carried a small hard leather clutch bag by a strap.

The Lancome Show by Alber Elbaz party was held to celebrate the beauty brand's collaboration with the Lanvin designer.

Alber and Françoise Lehmann, the newly appointed Lancôme International General Manager, together with Nicolas Hieronimus, President Selective Divisions of L’Oréal, greeted an impressive list of guests on the red carpet.

Nicky Hilton attended the event, walking the red carpet solo without her sister Paris.

The blonde heiress wore a strapless dress with metallic and mirror detailing for the evening.

Francoise was seen mingling with a number of fashion friends including former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris Carine Roitfeld.

Alber has used his creative genius to inject whimsical design detail to some of Lancome's best products.

Speaking about the new collection, which includes mascaras, an eye palette and fake lashes, Alber said: 'The real theme running through the collection is the eyes. The bottles are so fabulously rounded that they were my inspiration. I wanted to create rounded shapes with a hint of humour.'
