Gemma Arterton flaunts her enviable legs in a figure-hugging black dress she appears on Good Morning Britain to talk about her 'psychotic' new movie

Gemma Arterton is nearly at the end of a six-month stint on the stage in the West End musical Made In Dagenham.

But she's not too sad about the end of her theatrical saga, as she's busy promoting her new movie The Voices, in which she stars alongside Hollywood hunk Ryan Reynolds.

The 29-year-old actress appeared on Good Morning Britain on Thursday to discuss her role in the dark comedy, while looking chic and a bit edgy in her all-black ensemble.

She sported a thick ribbed black dress, clinging to her slender curves and sitting just below her knees, and covered up with a biker-ready black leather jacket.

Her legs looked better than ever as she sat on the sofa, elongating her slender pins with a pair of silver strappy sandals.

The British actress looked lovely, her brunette bob slightly mussed-up for the early morning TV interview, as she chatted animatedly to the hosts Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid.

Discussing her role in The Voices, she admitted it's a bit of a 'psychotic' film, but ensured her interviewers at the audience at home that it's actually 'really, really funny'.

She explained the film: 'It’s a horror comedy, or a dark comedy. I don’t want to give too much away of the plotline.

'But it’s about Jerry, who is played by Ryan Reynolds, who works in a toilet factory and in his mind the toilet factory is the most incredible place in the world to work in.

She went on: 'He hears voices in his head that tell him to do things. It’s a psychotic dark horror comedy. But it’s really, really funny.'

Gemma also added that her character in the movie is rather bizarre, because for much of the film she is merely a head in a fridge.

Animated: Gemma admitted that she often over-gesticulates, which is why she was a fan of her role in The Voices, as she mostly had to portray a head in a fridge

'Most of the film I spend in a bizarre situation. I’m a talking head in a fridge! It’s so hard to describe. I liked it because I gesticulate a lot with my hands and I’m quite animated.'

The pretty star also discussed her life-changing role in Made In Dagenham, for which she recently received a prestigious Olivier Award nomination.

'It’s been six months. I’m coming to the end of the run,' she explained.

'Doing the show has probably been my most proud endeavour. It’s not just about doing a show. It’s a message, like with the campaigning we’ve been doing around it for equal pay,' she added of the role which has earned her a Best Actress in a Musical nod.

'I’m very proud. I don’t usually get nominated for stuff, I’m very thrilled!' she said with a huge smile on her face.

Despite starring in the quirky new film, which is set to hit UK cinemas on 20 March, Gemma also recently admitted that she wasn't excited about some of her other roles, and that she now doesn't want to star in 's**t blockbusters'.

The outspoken star told The Independent that wasn't too fussed when she won herself a role in one of the more recent James Bond films.

On getting the Quantum Of Solace role, Gemma confessed: 'I wasn't happy about it. It wasn't like: "Oh my God, I'm going to be working with these people and it's a dream come true."

'It was a great experience and fun to go all those places, but the work wasn't so interesting.'

Gemma played the role of Strawberry Fields, a red-headed Mi6 agent who ends up in bed with Daniel Craig's British spy and dead soon after.

Arterton may not have liked the role but it no doubt helped her land parts opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince Of Persia and Sam Worthington in Clash Of The Titans.

However, now the British actress from Kent has made it clear to her agent she wants to focus on less shallow material.

Just say no: Gemma now says she only takes meaningful parts

'At the time I really thought I had to say yes to those films,' Gemma explains, 'I even have emails from people saying you must do this film, it's the right choice and strategy. Sometimes I think the Hollywood mentality – what is the aim there?'

'I had to call my agent and say no more of that s**t.'

She can next be seen in The Voices opposite and Anna Kendrick, and of course, Ryan Reynolds.

The comedy thriller comes from TV writer Michael R. Perry and stars Reynolds in the central role of a man who is guided by his evil talking cat and benevolent talking dog.

'One of the reasons I wanted to do the movie was because it's so surreal and original, and unlike anything I've ever read' said Arterton.

'There is a humor to this film all the way through, even in the most ghastly moment. I real credit to Michael, who wrote the script and found a subtle way to balance the horror and the humor without it being slapstick in any way.'
