Scarbiena revealed he received a call in the late Eighties from Storm Models' talent scout Sarah Doukas who wanted him to do some test shots with her 'new girl'.
While Scarbiena said he had 'no clue' of how famous Kate would become, he could see she was a 'natural' who suited his 'very minimal' photography style.
He told The Daily Telegraph: ‘Some girls come with a ready-made photo pose and you have to work through that. But I just said to Kate, “Pretend you’re bored waiting at the bus stop,” and she got it.’
The result, displayed in both black-and-white and colour, show the fresh-faced youngster looking nonchalantly into the camera lens while her brunette hair is left natural and windswept.

Other early shots show Croydon-born Kate braless in a men's large white shirt and a pair of tiny navy shorts. She poses in a variety of ways, crossing her arms, flashing a toothy grin and kneeling down.
Kate also has a chance to show off her playful side as she dances around in a plain black vest top and a pair of high-waisted jeans.
Recalling his memories of the momentous shoot, Scarbiena told Vogue: 'She was unimposing, innocent, fresh, unaffected and had a striking, nymph-like beauty.
'I loved the way that she sat for me in that shoot, because she demonstrated that she had no pre-conceived ideas about how models are supposed to pose or stand.'

He said the pair remained in touch 'for years after your shoot' but they 'gradually lost contact' when Kate became a global name.
Scarbiena admitted the images had been 'partly forgotten' until a close friend suggested he approach a gallery with view to exhibit them.
While he is not sure if Kate will be attending the exhibition, he says she has been invited.
The set of landmark snaps were taken a year before she appeared on the cover of Vogue and shoot the series of iconic portraits with photographer Corinne Day.
