'It was really, really glamorous': Gemma Atkinson admits she drank tea and watched Only Fools And Horses on her first date with football ace Cristiano Ronaldo

He earns around £15M a week and he's one of the most eligible bachelors in footballing world.

But ex-flame Gemma Atkinson has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo tried to woo her with tea and Only Fools And Horses, instead of fast cars and fancy restaurants.

The former Hollyoaks actress, 31, joked this week that her first date with the international footballer was 'really, really glamorous' as she revealed details of their short-lived fling, seven years ago.

Dishing on her not-so romantic encounter with the Real Madrid player, she told Manchester radio station Key 103: 'It was really, really glamorous. We just went to my house and drank cups of tea and watched Only Fools And Horses. Genuinely.

'I don’t know if he’s into it now, but it was on the telly. Only Fools And Horses and cups of tea, he seemed to enjoy it then but I’m going back about six or seven years.'

The British comedy about happless Wheeler Dealer brothers Del Boy and Rodney Trotter and starring David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst is an unlikely choice for the Portuguese professional.

He was at the height of his international career at the time, having made his debut for native Portugal in August 2003.

Gemma, meanwhile, was five years out of Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks in which she played Lisa Hunter for four years, until 2005.

The actress previously admitted that her fling with the footballer 'just sort of ended' when he was 'caught [sleeping] with prostitutes,' according to The Sun.

Superfit Gemma could certainly give the footballer a run for his money in the strength stakes, after spending the last decade honing her physique.

She told The Mirror this month: 'I am very happy now. I still get insecure like most girls. My legs will always be my problem area, that's where we hold weight in my family.

'I have kind of learned to love them in a way. They have been with me for 31 years carrying 11 stone around, so they are doing something right.'

She added: 'I remember telling someone and they couldn’t believe I was that weight. But I am 5ft 9in tall, have big thighs and I’m broad – from "good stock" as my grandad would say.'
