CBS has renewed eleven veteran series.
The top-rated TV network announced on Thursday which shows will return for the 2016-2017 season, although it has left all its freshman series, including Supergirl, in limbo.
Comedies Mom and 2 Broke Girls were renewed, along with long-running reality shows Survivor and The Amazing Race.

On the drama side, Blue Bloods, Elementary, Hawaii Five-O, Madam Secretary, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Scorpion have all been renewed for next season.
CBS had already picked up hit shows The Big Bang Theory and NCIS.
However, the network did not give any word on the fate of drama Criminal Minds.

One of the show's stars, actor Shemar Moore, announced Wednesday that he was stepping away from his role as Derek Morgan in order to seek more balance in his life.
The future of the crime thriller could also be linked to new spin off Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, which debuted this month.
The network previously announced it was ending Melissa McCarthy's sitcom Mike& Molly as well as final seasons for critically-acclaimed drama The Good Wife and formerly top-rated show Person of Interest.
The network has yet to announce the fate of Patricia Arquette's CSI: Cyber or Matthew Perry sitcom The Odd Couple.

CBS is still deciding which of its new shows will be back for a second season, including Supergirl, which debuted this year to huge hype.
New family comedy Life in Pieces and medical drama Code Black are still up for renewal or cancellation, as is spin-off Criminal Minds: Beyond Boarders.
And the future of new show Limitless, which had an appearance from producer Bradley Cooper this week, is also still uncertain.
CBS is currently the top-rated US television network among total viewers.

FIRST PIC: Melissa Benoist reveals her Supergirl costume as the DC character prepares to get her own TV series

These are the first images of Melissa Benoist donning the iconic costume of Supergirl.
The 26-year-old is set to play Kara Zor-El in the new CBS series premiering later this year.
Wearing the famous knee high red boots, red cape, yellow belt. blue torso and red skirt, the outfit is essentially the female version of her cousin Superman's - with the skirt replacing his even more famous red exo-underpants.

The muted colors appear to be a nod to Henry Cavill's costume in Man Of Steel, avoiding the brighter hues of some of the Kryptonians' earlier incarnations.
Also toned down is the cut of the costume - her much bustier comicbook counterpart has been known to rock an even shorter skirt and an exposed midriff - while this Supergirl has also opted for only the barest hint of make-up.
On Friday the American actress posted an Instagram snap of her proudly baring the 'S' (that isn't really an 'S') writing: 'THIS. I still can't believe I am wearing the House of El coat of arms. #supergirl #wbdctv'.

Earlier this week, Benoist also posted a picture of Helen Slater, who played the original Supergirl in the 1984 film version, proclaiming: 'Supergirls then and now....@HelenSlaterNYC...is this real life?! So crazy/amazing!!'
Slater has actually been cast in the new TV series, as has Dean Cain who played Clark Kent in the 90s TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, though their roles have yet to be confirmed.
Supergirl is the latest in the DC lineup to be given her own TV series following the Green Arrow, The Flash and Batman prequel Gotham.

Executive producer Greg Berlanti, who also writes and producer Arrow and The Flash, has previously indicated that all three are based in the same universe and may cross over to each others shows; however since Supergirl is on a different network to her DC counterparts, this has been put on the long finger.
The plot centers around 24-year-old Kara Zor-El who was taken in by a foster family after being sent away from her home planet of Krypton. She has kept her powers hidden under their guidance, but is forced to reveal them during a disaster.
The show will also star Calista Flockheart as Kara's boss; Mechad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, photographer and love interest of Kara; and Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Kara's birth mother.
David Harewood meanwhile plays Hank Henshaw, a supervillain in the comic, but a government agent chasing Kara in the show.

In late 2014 it was heavily speculated that Claire Holt from The Vampire Diaries would land the part.
Supergirl is being executive produced by Greg Berlanti, the man behind Arrow and The Flash.
According to Deadline, Benoist 'will play a denizen of Krypton who escaped amid its destruction years ago.
She's not the first Supergirl: Laura Vandervoort played Supergirl in from 2007 to 2011 for the CW's Smallville. Helen Slater played the character for a film in 1984

'Once she arrived to Earth, she hid the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But at 24, she opts to be the hero.'
Supergirl also goes by the name Kara Zor-El.
The show is also looking to cast her sister Alex who, at 26, sounds like she'll be an influence on Kara.
The Colorado native has also starred in the Oscar-nominated film Whiplash.
The brunette's upcoming films include Danny Collins with Jennifer Garner and Annette Bening, Billy Boy with Greg Germann, and The Longest Ride with Scott Eastwood.

CBS has given a series commitment to Supergirl, a DC Comics character that was first introduced in 1959.
CBS Entertainment Chairman Nina Tassler said in early January that she thinks Supergirl will 'fit nicely alongside more mature characters like The Good Wife's Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies), Extant's Molly Woods (Halle Berry), and Madam Secretary's Elizabeth McCord (Téa Leoni),' according to the site.
Laura Vandervoort played Supergirl in from 2007 to 2011 for the CW's Smallville.
Helen Slater played the character for a film in 1984.
Henry Cavill will play Superman in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice which comes out March 25, 2016. Ben Affleck plays the part of Batman.
