She's blown the critics away with her portrayal of a seductive 'older woman' in The Paperboy.
And it looks as though some of that allure has carried through into Nicole Kidman's real life.
The stunning actress, 44, turned up to the Hemingway & Gellhorn premiere at Cannes today working a sexy Mad Men-style checked dress.

Gathered at the waist with a thick black belt, Nicole's ensemble was very similar to the sort of thing often sported by stars January Jones and Christina Hendricks on the hit show.
Nicole wore her hair in soft waves, pinned back at the front and falling loose around her shoulders.
She kept her make-up simple and summery, with a sweep of blush, pink lipstick and mascara.

The off-the-shoulder cut added an alluring touch to Nicole's below-the-knee dress, and she completed her look with black heels and hoop earrings.

Nicole was reportedly proactive in her involvement with the film from the get go.
Director Philip Kaufman (The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Right Stuff) recalled in a recent interview that he met the actress at a party before he started making the film.
'She said, 'I want to work with you. What are you doing?' he said.

He then told her about Hemingway & Gellhorn, after which he claims: 'Two days later, she called me and said, 'I just read the script.'
Nicole reportedly got hold of it through unofficial channels, but was immediately prepared to play what Kaufman described as 'the model of that 1930s-40s smart, tough babe.'

Before Cannes Kaufman made it very clear that he wished to honour to keep Gellhorn's reputation: 'Though she was on the covers of major magazines and is to this day regarded by many as the greatest war correspondent of all time,' he said.
'She has often been reduced to 'Hemingway's third wife,' a mere footnote in his life... She was the first correspondent ashore at Omaha Beach, and one of the first correspondents at Dachau.'

Thigh's the limit for Nicole Kidman as she accidentally flashes her perfect pins at Cannes film festival debut

Getting into a car while wearing a flowing grown with a unpredictable thigh high slit proved a little too tricky for Nicole Kidman to manage in Cannes earlier tonight.
But her  wardrobe difficulty only served to give onlookers a glimpse of the actress's perfect pins.
She struggled in vain to keep the gown over her long and toned legs, but eventually needed an aide to help her into the car.

At one point, the actress's gold high-heeled sandals got caught up in her frock, which added to her struggle.
The French seaside city has certainly brought out the romantic side between happily married  Kidman and her husband Keith Urban.
The country music star came out to support his Hollywood actress wife for the premiere of her new movie, The Paperboy.

The doting singer even carried his wife's clutch bag as they shared their amorous public display of affection.
Earlier Keith let his wife have her time in the spotlight as she walked the red-carpet.
The actress dazzled the crowd as she arrived in a rose-coloured draped Lanvin dress that cutaway to reveal her toned upper body.

She posed for the cameras and headed up the press line with her much younger co-star Zac Efron.
Efron, 24, looked decidedly dapper in a tuxedo as did fellow stars John Cusack and Matthew McConaughey.
The Paperboy is set in the 1960s, with Efron playing an aspiring writer helping his journalist brother (McConaughey) investigate a possible miscarriage of justice.

In the film, Efron's Jack falls for Nicole's sparky but sultry femme fatale, who is in turn obsessed with a death row inmate (Cusack).
The cast also includes singer Macy Gray as Jack's family maid and surrogate mother, and British actor David Oyelowo as an ambitious big-city journalist.
'I'd been looking as an actor for something raw and something dangerous,' Nicole told reporters at the festival.

'I may be uncomfortable watching the movie. But that's my job - it's my job to give over to something, not to censor it, not to put my own judgments of how I feel as Nicole playing the character. I am there to portray a truth.
'I don't want to be pigeonholed,' she added. 'I'm willing to fail because of that. I just want to try.'
Nicole worked hard to create Charlotte Bless, interviewing women who were in love with convicts and putting together the character's bold look.

'[Director Lee Daniels] said to me, "Look, we've got no money, you're going to have to do your own hair and makeup,'' Kidman said.
She decided to sit down and experimented with fake tan, fake eyelashes and a platinum hairpiece, then photographed the results.
The Paperboy has drawn mixed response in Cannes, where it is one of 22 films up for the Palme d'Or, to be awarded on Sunday.
