WHAM! MICHAEL'S PREVIOUS SMASH HITS... ON THE ROAD

July 2010: George Michael crashes his Range Rover into a Snappy Snaps shop in North London after taking cannabis.

Handed eight-week prison sentence and given five-year driving ban after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and possessing cannabis.

August 2009: Jailed for eight weeks after driving his £80,000 Range Rover into a lorry on the A34.

    2007: Handed two-year ban for drug-driving

April 2006: Former Wham! star admits he's 'a terrible driver' after hitting three cars while trying to park.

June 2004: Smashes into a bollard near his home after falling asleep at the wheel.

May 2004: Writes off BMW convertible after hitting barriers on A40 at North Acton, London.
Two friends he was travelling with pulled over onto the hard shoulder and ran across to tend to the pop star.
Meanwhile, Katherine reversed her Mini to a point in the carriageway where it shielded him from oncoming traffic as an off-duty police officer helped to direct vehicles around the scene.
Katherine, a children's nanny, told The Sun: 'George didn't say anything, he just seemed in shock. He was sitting down against a car and in the arms of his friend.
'The guy holding him was quite scared. If he'd landed in the second lane he would have been hit by a car without a doubt.'
The motorway was closed while Michael was airlifted to hospital with a head injury.
He was initially reported that he had been well enough to be discharged later that day.
But a spokesman for the former Wham! star today confirmed he remains in hospital for observations, although she insisted he was 'fine'.
She said: 'He's still in hospital, but this is standard practice to keep an eye on him.
'He has a couple of bumps and grazes and cuts to the head, but he's making good progress and looking forward to getting out.'
    Police are investigating the incident.
Speaking at the singer’s home in Highgate, North London, hours after the crash, Michael’s boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, 39, said: 'He is perfectly fine. Of course I was worried, but I have spoken to him and he is good.
'He suffered a few bruises but there is nothing to worry about. I have no idea what happened, I wasn’t there.'

Katherine was driving behind a silver Range Rover when George, 49, suddenly tumbled from a passenger door on to the third lane of the northbound carriageway.
She and other drivers hit their brakes and skidded to a halt. Katherine said: “I saw blood everywhere and a man on the ground.
“I thought someone had run across the road and been hit.
“I asked what had gone on and was told he tried to open the car door and shut it again because it wasn’t shut properly and apparently fell out at 70mph.
“I was on the phone to the ambulance and said, ‘You’d better come quick. This doesn’t look good’.
“George was wearing a black and gold Adidas tracksuit that was ripped all down the arm and shoulder. He had no trainers on.
“I grabbed one from the second lane because cars were swerving to avoid it.
“His sunglasses were also in the road. I could hear the crunch as cars drove over them.”
George was in the car on a four-lane stretch of the M1 near St Albans, Herts, with two friends.
They pulled on to the hard shoulder and ran back across two lanes of traffic to help George.
Katherine reversed her Mini so it shielded him from other vehicles and an off-duty policeman stopped and directed traffic around the accident scene.
    Within minutes paramedics had arrived.
Katherine, a children’s nanny, said: “George didn’t say anything, he just seemed in shock.
“He was sitting down against a car and in the arms of his friend.
“The guy holding him was quite scared. He kept saying to George, ‘Are you all right mate?’
“I think George was lucky he didn’t die.
“If he’d landed in the second lane he would have been hit by a car without a doubt.
“He was in the middle of the M1. I could have run him over.”
George was airlifted to hospital on Thursday from the scene at the M1’s junction 6A with the M25.
Hours later his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, speaking at their North London home, said: “I’ve spoken to him and he’s good.”
George was treated for cuts and bruises. Police are investigating.
